Why does my windows guest under proxmox show the real RAM usage thanks to virtio, but fails to free RAM to the host system? since if I htop I see constantly the full max RAM being reserved.

Is there any way to import all torznab links with categories directly to sonarr? or do I really have to go through like 40 links manually?

Bitdefender now requires Internet explorer for installation. Which free AV now is good to download?

Me mum said her internet stopped working after a thunder strike.
How do I quickly verify if an onboard LAN controller is fried?
Will pinging 127.0.0.1 be enough or should I bring my router with me?

I'm trying to play a movie on my ps3. The original file is an mkv which I converted to an MP4 (H.264 +MP3).

The PS3 recognises the file when I insert my USB, but when I play the movie, the first 20 seconds or so play, with no audio, and then the screen goes black permanently after the logo's have finished. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

i have 3 computers in my house, all connected to a single router via switch. can i somehow make each of them have a different external IP? like using DDnS or something?

The original file you have is encoded with DRM protection. Most media players ignore this, but the PS3 media player doesn't, and will halt playback whenever the distributor intended.

127 doesn't go through the NIC so it won't be enough to tell.

still looking for an answer..

i tried imagemagick but its super cryptic and i don't understand it

Not if your ISP hasn't assigned your three IPs, you can only forward ports.

Is there some fucking server manager that is secure and would allow me to note down things like what ports route where, credentials I have, its hard keeping track of like 15 servers with all their individual ports, IPs etc.

not even on a dynamic IP?

So, I am using Win 7 because fuck Win 10. Now there is this annoying problem after a while.
Whenever I boot up my PC the Keyboard and Mouse keep disconnecting. Even when I want to reinstall the OS.
What can I do?

>brown and purple eyes

stop the shop

You've only got one modem that logs into one account with your ISP

i guess that more modems won't help?

Recommend me some userscripts

No.

Why do you want 3 different ip's externally though?

you do have 3 different ones within your network.

I need a drinks container that wont spill and has a straw so I can use it while messing around in vr with no need to take the HMD off or worry about knocking it over, any suggestions?

we can't play online game because it treats us like one computer

Get an infants sippy cup.

Even if you have different accounts? That's pretty lame. Proxies are the only other way but it'll add latency.

Is it possible to run bookmarklets in Firefox Mobile?

sure it's not a hardware issue? shitty usb ports? shitty mouse+kb? both?
also, if you have them plugged into usb3.X (blue) or extra power (red) ports, try moving them to regular usb2.0 ports. using older hardware on new usb ports has given me trouble recently.

my dumb question: can anybody recommend some good windows software for notekeeping? ideally:
- can do checklists
- can do calendar/timed events
- can do notifications
- super lightweight
- free/oss

basically I want the tixati of notekeeping programs.

Literally a disposable plastic water bottle. works great, I've accidentally punched them and, as long as you've got the cap on, am still disaster-free. Super easy to open and close while still in vr, too.

Got a drive that was working perfectly until today when it suddenly shows as non-initialized and Windows is asking me to format it again, which I obviously refused to do. Tried moving into a different enclosure but same thing happened, tried running a free partition recovery tool and didn't seem to do any good. Is it safe to assume it's fucked and my data is gone at this point, or is there something else I should try before I chuck it in the trash?

HDD? I'd take it to a repair shop

Well there's nothing in there that vital, probably cheaper just to buy a new drive and restore from backups if I have to, just wondering if it can be salvaged before I go there.

So yeah, could someone rate this setup?
I just bought it from a friend, and i'm kinda of worried about it

-Amd Ryzen 3 1300x
-Asrock Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming K4
-Sapphire Radeon r7 370 4gb GDDR5
-A WD HDD of 1tb and a Kingston SSD of 256 gb
-DDR4 2400 mhz 2x4gb Corsair Vengeance

I know i won't be playing at ultra settings, but, with games like overwatch, will i at least do like 60fps on medium-high at 1080?

i'll ask ISP. maybe they'll be kind enough to spare one or few extra for free

Put javascript:alert("hi"); in the address bar and find out.

or maybe i should consider buying an IPv6 block

I do 90fps with my 270x, I souldn't be worried about that.

Does anyone have a fountain pen? Long story short, I was looking at pic related. I'm a faggot who writes down my thoughts, ideas, and overall keep a journal. I'm sick of garbage pens and having a dedicated journal pen seems ideal.

what are you paying for that r7 370? why not get a gtx1050 or 1060?

I'm paying something like 120-150 Euros, i know i could have bought something better, but the deed is done
Next time i'll just build it myself fuck it

lol, fountain pens are two things:
1. faggy
2. incredibly fun and satisfying to use.
any pen you buy for more than $10 that has a 4star+ rating will be just fine. just know that if you're a ditzy fuck like myself, you should probably give it a dedicated home on a desk as opposed to in a bag or otherwise, lost my first few pens real fast taking them to classes and work.

i use one and won't use anything else. i have a waterman with a refillable cartridge (you siphon the ink from an ink bottle)

ah. yeah, like said you should be fine.
youtube.com/watch?v=d5ZsaavKNR8
if you wanna feel better about not being among the highest echelons of the masterrace™.

Yea I realize fountain pens can be seen as faggy but whatever, I don't care. I'm sick of really shitty pens and any of the pens that are worth using are like $10 for a pack of 3.

And I totally intend to keep my pen on my desk. It'll be for journal and note taking only.
That's good to know. What about those ink packs I posted in my pic? How do I fill from those?

Pocket protector.

do you work on some GIS shit? As you're a winfag try fastpictureviewer.com/ or google for VLIV - it's ancient, but apparently still works well enough.

Another solution may be to try and cut the fucker down into several pieces - no clue on how to do that on windows. This what I'd do with imagemagick:
convert image.jpg -crop 10%x10% +repage image_%d.jpg
which would cut down your monster in 100 pieces.

Greasemonkey or Tampermonkey?

in base64, why is TEST not encoded to VEVTVA
when I do "echo TEST | base64" I get VEVTVAo=
where did the 'o' come from

but fiddling with the cap will be a ballache

git gud, parkinsonsfag

whelp I went ahead and ordered the pen and 2x12 packs of blue ink.

George R. R. Martin look out

Thanks man, that video is great
Now i'm a lot less worried
So yeah, i guess i'll just try a lil bit of everything and fiddle with the settings
(And anyway everything is an imporvement, my current laptop is absolute dogshit, like i wanted to play fallout 4, just to see the story
And i played it at like ultra low, 20ish fps and in 480p)
The good ol days

how do file systems differ from one another? why doesn't everyone use the same one?

How do I make an open source reimplementation of windows

>And i played it at like ultra low, 20ish fps and in 480p)

Lol fuck yeah. I did the same with Bioshock 1 on my old PC. Thought "graphics don't matter at all, people are dumb af to spend hundreds on video cards"

And then 4 years later built a $900 PC and holy shit how I was so wrong

with a lot of knowledge, a lot of time, a lot of friends, and probably a lot of money.

>Graphics don't matter at all, people are dumb af to spend hundreds on video cards

Yea people who are "have nots" tend to be the ones who SWEAR you don't NEED something.

>why doesn't everyone use the same one?
that's actually a good question. it's 2017 ffs, we should have one, ultimate filesystem

...

I mean like, where do they differ in ways that require multiple versions

How do I figure out if my ISP is fucking with me?

For YEARS I have had an off-and-on problem where my internet will just completely die for 5-50 seconds. Sometimes it'll just stop for a handful of seconds. Sometimes it'll go out for a minute or two. Rarely it'll go completely out for 5-10 minutes at a time.

It makes online games impossible. I get DCd constantly. Sometimes its a DC every minute, sometimes I get 15-20 minutes without a DC. But no matter what, some 5, 10, 30 seconds outtage comes along at least once an hour, and usually more like 3-10 times an hour.

It's extremely variable.

I think it happens more during summer, and possibly during holidays.

I suspect that it's just network load crippling my neighborhood or town.

How do I find out what it is, though?
How do I find out if they're "shaping" my connection or putting me on a lower priority because I refuse to pay for more than 15Mbps/3Mbps?

All of the tools online that claim to detect ISP fuckery seem to have shut down. And I don't want to run untrusted .exe's.

I've called the company repeatedly over the years. They send someone out who fucks with the modern, fucks with the cable box outside, fucks with the pole the drop runs from.

Usually nothing gets fixed. Sometimes things will improve for a while. But NO MATTER WHAT, this problem comes back.

What the fuck is it? My ISP just being tightass pieces of shit and not upgrading their infrastructure because I'm not in a metro area?

have a program that can sort files listed in it

I implemented sorting, and I am not sure if the correct orientation is set.

The standard, the expected. I never thought about it, but what seems standard - the trianle, is counter intuitive to me.

I opened thunar to test how it goes

▼ - ABCD...
▼ - 4 kB, 100 kB, 500 kB,...
▼ - monday, tuesday, friday, today

obviously ▲ goes in opposite direction sorting
but WTF

larger portion of the triangle at the top, smaller at the bottom, yet size goes from small to large, and I know with date and alphabet its kinda how you feel, but I would still go other way around...

googling took me to stackoverflo question but they bring in to it the word ascending and shit...
ux.stackexchange.com/questions/37564/use-up-or-down-arrow-to-represent-sort-ascending-at-table-header

how do I know if my machine is performing as well as it should given its hardware/OS combo?

>What the fuck is it? My ISP just being tightass pieces of shit and not upgrading their infrastructure because I'm not in a metro area?

Sounds like it. I dealt with the same in a small college town years ago with Comcast. Shit's infuriating, and there's not much you can do besides demand to escalate with customer service

I'm moving my SSD with Windows already on it to a new PC with only an empty HDD for storage. I know I'll have to do a fresh Windows install on the SSD, but is there some specific way I should do it or just plug it in, boot the PC and then overwrite the Windows installation from a disc or USB stick?

I have a bunch of files that share a the same first part of their file names, can I remove that part with a simple script?
ie album name - track # - song
track # - song

When you install Windows, there's always the option to delete/format/resize the paritions before installing

So just install SSD, boot into CD/USB stick, and follow the onscreen stuff

that's because there's rarely an ultimate standard that beats others in any category

So I just bought a TPM-module in belief it'd enable Full Disk Encryption, but I missed a requirement which was InstantGo(and my motherboard don't support that). So now I'm left with a useless TPM-module and no encryption, so I could use some tips to go from here

1. Should I cough up some money and upgrade my license to Pro? First-party 256-bit encryption that uses my new TPM module sounds nice. Remote Desktop and Hyper-V could be useful too, but I don't think I'll use them that often, hence why it feels a bit crappy paying for the Pro license solely to get BitLocker.

2. Use some 3rd-party software, doesn't sound too good and probably won't utilize the TPM module. But it seems to be a cheaper option.

Which way should I go, anons?

Anyone know a program that block Windows download/upload on Svchost.exe?DisableWinTracking doesnt work.
I just want to watch my milf porn online

What are the best programs to block windows 10's telemetry and related (((functions)))? I already have the spybot thing installed with full immunization applied

Also i'm not planning to stay much on this build either until i can get a new drive and reinstall win 7 from there but i'd like to think that m$ won't be reading anything i type in realtime heh

Well so 700, 704 and 708 are a power of 4, so it should be mostly fine? But I don't see a way to label it as exactly 4:3 instead.
Actually I might be wrong. I use MPC-HC as a main video play. When I play the video and go in properties it says 704x576 (176:135) in details, but when I go to MediaInfo it says 4:3. Does it really matter?

I'm new to networking so bear with me

If I got an ethernet switch, could I use it to connect a raspberry pi with openwrt to an adsl connection, then connect an ethernet cable to the switch from my PC to essentially use the raspberry pi as a router?

block it in firewall?

My seagate drive in my laptop is beeping occasionally. It work fine right now but I'm worried why it's beeping.
Seems to happen more when it's hot and I move it.

it might not be 4:3 after cropping, it depends on how that specific video was made
either way, this is a small crop, and such a small potential error doesn't really matter, no
mediainfo is likely just rounding to the nearest common ratio
there are also bluray movies with pictures sizes like 1920x804, 1920x816, etc, you'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference after stretching them to 1920x800, and it's hard to tell what the 'true' ratio is supposed to be

>connect to adsl
Assuming you have a DSL filter (as you normally would) and a wifi enabled raspberry pi, yes.
You can do it with a USB Wifi dongle too but note:
wiki.openwrt.org/toh/raspberry_pi_foundation/raspberry_pi#how_to_use_usb-ethernet_with_raspberry_pi_zero

also, the purist solution would be to just not crop, and use the DAR flagged on the dvd
since a dvd can only be 4:3 or 16:9 (the standard only supports these two), it should be very obvious which one it should be
this way, the result is exactly the same as you would get when playing the dvd normally

How exactly in Firewall? What is the name?
I already disable the Windows Update and stuff on "Services". Also, I blocked Svchost.exe with NetLimiter but can't use the internet in general....
Thanks for respond

Well for WiFi support I need specific drivers for the OpenWRT firmware, and I can't install them without internet, plus I like having my main PC connected via ethernet which is why I'm considering getting a switch. So the setup would be like this?
>switch port 1 connects to adsl
>pi connects to switch port 2
>pc connects to switch port 3
>switch routes pc to pi which routes to adsl

Hello Sup Forums.
I just bought a chink mic, and it annoys me that I have to set the mic boost to 30dB. The buzzing sound is horrendous. Then I read in certain forums that using a 3.5mm to USB jack helps it a lot since a lot of chink mics needs more voltage to work properly. Now, can I just use an XLR to USB cable instead of buying an adapter? Is it safe? How can I guarantee it won't burn itself or explode?

What's a good super cheap web host? I'm currently with 247zilla but my files have started getting randomly deleted which is pretty concerning. They claim to have 24/7 support but in reality there's zero support and their website is half broken. I don't mind no support, as long as the service actually works...

Looking at GitHub, NoSupportLinuxHosting, and KimSufi, but could consider others. Any recommendations?

actually, no. firewall is a stupid solution
you can do it in registry but i don't have enough knowledge on how to do that. you'd have to google it

i'm off to sleep, but if you want more info, there's a lot of dvd ripping related stuff on forum.doom9.org

Thanks and good night.

I'm unable to encrypt my /home partition using eCryptfs on arch and making it automount at login. The partition is with /home is on a separate hd.

After logging out from my user profile and running "ecryptfs-migrate-home" as root and following the instructions to set up pam_automount as detailed on the wiki, when I try to login again with my user profile the password is always incorrect.

What the fuck am I doing wrong?

OneNote works well for that, and IIRC it can connect to the calendar app Windows 10 has.

My toaster has 3GB of RAM but only ever uses 2GB; what gives? Given that speccy shows that I have 3GB I'm reasonably sure that I installed it right but task manager says that 1.6GB is 80% utilization.

Orfox (Android) is insta-crashing a few seconds after I launch it, any known fix?

Handling really large images:
You can trade disk space for ram.....
convert mybigassimage.jpg mybigassimage.mpc
convert mybigassimage.mpc -resize 50% resized.jpg
convert mybigassimage.mpc -rotate 90 rotated.jpg
...etc...
rm -f mybigassimage.mpc mybigassimage.cache
See imagemagick.org/Usage/files/#mpc

My computer is not supported my libreboot. I am relatively clueless about programming (I started learning python a week ago), how hard would it be to write one myself?

how does one go about activating tcg opal capabilities in a samsung 850 evo ssd?

It seems the 3 options are a no go. Mobo doesnt support ATA password, cant find tcg opal software that is affordable and bitlocker requires me to reinstall everything from scratch.

Basically would this work?

different requirements.

some filesystems need to ensure the integrity of every file on petabyte sized storage spanning multiple physical storage devices (even spanning multiple SANs). some just need to make your bootdisk work

I wouldn't do that, raspi is a shitty router.

What makes you say it's a "shitty router"?

incredibly hard.

I have 6 years experience as a commercial developer and couldn't do it without months of researching the hardware spec

No, well, not without a LOT of network fuckery. Raspi's are garbage routers because they're slow and have 1 ethernet port. Just buy a used router and flash openWRT on it.

you need to be able to set up VLANs in your switch, and your router must have more than 1 port. I'd suggest pcengines.ch/apu2.htm - Free as in Freedom BIOS/OS, stupid powerful, 3 Gbit ports for ~120 bucks.

This is a very unusual setup. I wouldn't say it's impossible, it's doable but it's almost certainly not not what you want.
What you want is ADLS->RPI->Switch->hosts

jeffgeerling.com/blogs/jeff-geerling/getting-gigabit-networking
Basically you won't get gigabit networking going.
They're not what you go for if you want quality. It's a cheap low performance router and you should accept it as such.

It's called Excel.

What would you name a software application that predicts the outcome of a football game using machine learning?

You are hunting me cross threads user.
