>bought a BoboVR Z4 Mini for my phone
>have had other plastic chinese headsets in the past but they're all too small, especially around the nose
>some shill on YT said BoboVR Z4 has plenty of nose room and it's the best cheap headset ($16)
>order it on ebay
>it arrives 2.5 weeks later
>try it on
>it completely blocks my nose from breathing
Fuck this shit.

>inb4 having jew nose
My nose isn't big at all, but my eyes are quite "back" from my actual nose line. And I have tried Gear VR headsets and those were fine.

Oh shit, now that I'm looking at pics, it seems that the non-Mini version has decent nose room.I bought the Mini edition because I thought th eonly difference was that the non-Mini had built in headphones, but I read that they're pretty much garbage so I ordered the Mini and use my regular headphones with it.

What do you even use it for?

Mostly for VR porn, but I also play games with Trinus VR (streaming from PC to phone). Unfortunately I'm poor and can't afford the real thing.

bump

Just won a bidding for a Rift DK2 on eBay. Hope I haven't done goofed.

Does it really work well enough to not feel like a gimmick though? I've heard people say it's not even something worth spending time on even if it were free or something.

I wouldn't say it's a gimmick, it's just the ghetto or Russian version of a real VR headset. If you want a taste of VR then it's good enough for that.

Depends on what you paid. Anything more than $150 probably isn't worth it.

It slightly over 150 with shipping. It's still nowhere near the price of a CV1.

DK2 basically means you're stuck sitting down and always forward facing. The tracking area is pretty small. Make sure to mount the camera about 6 feet back and not on your monitor or on your desk, it really helps.

Thanks, will do. Are there some ghetto mods to add DIY controllers?

I remember back a decade ago there was a homemade solution by some guy that only required a webcam and a small ball with some neon color that it could track. Then you could use your webcam and that ball on your hand (or on a stick) to control mouse movements.

Is there similar for VR controllers?

Looks interesting.

Razer Hydra were the go to motion controllers before Touch and the Vive. They even have SteamVR drivers.

You can also look into PS Move. I remember someone hacked together drivers for it. There's something called Trinus that lets you use PSVR on PC now so maybe look into that for PS Move support.

Look what I've found:

It's for phones, but there's got to be something similar for desktop.

I'm sure you can find some sort of marker tracking but the problem you have is input. If you don't need that then you might as well go for a Leap Motion that you can find for $20 and get decent hand tracking.

Gameplay looks interesting but I hope it has some form of a good story.

I heard Rift was sued out of existence , can Sup Forums confirm Vive is only viable platform now?

Nope. Zenimax sued them, but they're dragging on the case and will probably drag it on for years since they have Facebook's lawyers and backing. They don't have to pay/do shit right now and if they did, they could not somehow take back everyone's paid for products and software already in their possession.

As a lesson, these kinds of cases where one big corp is suing another big corp usually doesn't affect the consumer much.

Just bought the rift bundle, Do i need to buy a third sensor for roomscale? Is the tracking improvement worth it?

What is the easiest/cheapest way to look at some models I've made in Blender in VR?

>Do i need

No, you can do room scale but no larger than 3x3 meters at the max of their tracking limits, when you set them up right. If more, then you'll want 3 sensors. The tracking improvement mainly comes only if you're close to or beyond the range limit.

Anyone know when this sale ends?

Ma nigga
I get that shit with the gearvr and I had to sell that shit, it's clearly an issue for alot of people if we coincidentally have the same problem.
