Actually a good suggestion, thank you!

>Just installed Fedora as my first Linux OS. What next fellas?
sudo apt-get install supertuxkart

Jokes on you, dropped out years ago

Fuck GNU, its Linux.

rpmfusion free
rpmfusion nonfree
(if new I recommend fedy)
google gnome extensions
google gnome look

t. Autistic fedora user

...

No lie, almost installed that earlier. It looks 'interesting' to say the least.

Feels man

Thanks, I'll look more into this.

copr is fedora's equivalent to PPA

if on a laptop, install tlp for more battery life. Also:
sudo systemctl mask ModemManager.service plymouth-quit-wait.service
and whatever else you don't need in services

That's good advice. I'd also recommend installing the freetype-freeworld package to help with fonts. I also found that removing the package qgnomeplatform will fix fucked up scaling in QT apps (but I'm not sure if that's still needed in F26).

When I switched the hardest thing was choosing which software to use for stuff. I'm assuming you're running gnome - I'd recommend ditching the default programs and looking into alternatives. Here's what I use:

Mail: Thunderbird
Audio: Audacious (Basic), MPD and ncmpcpp or Cantata (Advanced / library management)
Graphic Editing: Pinta (Basic), GIMP (Advanced)
Video: mpv
File Browser: Nemo
Text Editor: Pluma (Basic), Geany (Advanced)
Image Viewer: Viewnior

Also, don't forget to install gnome-tweak-tool and dconf-editor in order to tweak shit.

this but followed with the realization that the software is probably not in the official fedora repos.

Lube up for Redhat.

...

no to sound like a douche, but you should have gone with a more noob friendly distro like mint or ubuntu.

>Just installed Fedora as my first Linux OS
I unironically applaud you.

good choice.

Give QubesOS a chance when you feel like it.

Fedora is no less noob friendly

install gentoo
install i3
rice it
set a loli as a wallpaper
shitpost in *fetch threads

stop giving OP shitty advice

rpm fusion is nice, it's a big repisitory of Software

It's Systemd/GNU/Linux, i don't recall using the "gnu init system" if that even exists

Rice out GNOME and then install XFCE/MATE/KDE when you inevitably get frustrated managing windows with it's tablet interface.

Rpm fusion.
GNOME tweak tool.
GNOME extensions (dash to dock, maximus, suspend button).
Mpv.
Arch theme.
Numix icons.

First off, make sure your up to date by running (sudo dnf upgrade --refresh). Add the RPM Fusion repo to your system (rpmfusion.org/Configuration).

>sudo
OP, lemme teach you about su.

Do $su to log in to root. Do su USER_NAME to login to any other users.

holy fucking shit who cares?

>>>/facebook/

Their is no need for a regular user to use su nor log in as root. OP should just stick with sudo.

Okay, but I go to websites and I see 10 lines of sudo commands. It's good to know about.

Blog your initial impressions and amusing anecdotes on a Peruvian funny pages site.

You don't need to reenter the password when using sudo for current session. So he can copy and paste those 10 commands without going into root.

sudo rm /bin/vi
sudo rm /bin/vim
sudo ln -s /bin/nano /bin/vi
sudo ln -s /bin/nano /bin/vim

>You don't need to reenter the password when using sudo for current session. So he can copy and paste those 10 commands without going into root.
Not true, try sudoing in the same window half an hour later.

Not sure about the time limit during a logged in terminal session because I close my terminal once I'm through with it but half an hour is plenty of time to input 10 sudo commands. Anyways, as I previously stated regular users should never login as root. Surely not for the reason you stated.
