Is a mid-range PC from 2009 still usable as a main PC today?

HAHAHA XD

yes

idk, probably

For browsing the web probably. A Core 2 Duo would be really tough to justify using, basically any sort of multitasking would bring everything to a crawl. Some people are still using a Core 2 Quad though.

I am using one right now but I upgraded the RAM and bought an SSD

I have a Core 2 Duo P8700 on my Thinkpad and it's very fast and has no issues multitasking.
Yeap, upgrading the RAM and adding an SSD will definitely give new life to a Core 2 Duo system.

Only is you expect to barely get past 1000 FPS on modern games.

Depends what your "main" use is. I've just recently retired my rig from 2008. It's not going to handle much gaming at all but it's been my general purpose machine at home up until now and happily chugged along.

Now I just have to find someone willing to buy its ancient guts.

Depends on what you're using it for. My IMSAI 8080 still performs all the same computing functions it did almost 40 years ago. That said, you're not getting on the Internet with it, but it does word processing just fine. An abacus still works the same way. If your machine from 2009 is still doing what you want it to do, then yes, it's still usable.

Anything other than gaymes is fine, im still using my 2008 Core2 laptop just fine when i'm not on a desk. Gets a little slow on 1080p youtube vids, but then again the screen is 1280x800...
