Can someone explain why Sup Forums is so hyped about threadripper when it's not even a consumer-grade cpu?

how many of you are actually going to buy it?

my gf ruris feet are so cute

delete this

delet

I want to sexually fuck that foot

It's shitposting and newfags from /r/amd
You can spot them by how genuinely buttmad they get and post pages of pasta to defend amd.

>not consumer grade
Then what it is? What is a Titan XP that costs 200$ more?

People are excited because it is another market that Intel now has serious competition is. Competition is good.

...

>Literally anywhere else on the internet: Wow it's amazing that AMD has brought this product to consumers for the first time
>Sup Forums the shittiest shithole in existence: HURR DURR AMD SUX IT'S ALL SHITPOSTERS AND SHILLS FROM /r/AMD

Kill yourself.

Intel was more than happy to milk the enthusiast high-end market to death, AMD brought some much needed balance, now we've got close-minded neo-luddite dipshits like you claiming it's un-nessecary.

I don't remember seeing any trash posts like this when Intel was the one delivering absurdly overpriced $1700 10 cores.

Go back to your safespace aku.

>why are people talking about technology in a technology board?
kys yourself

Kill yourself, shitstain. You'd rather have Intel jew the entire PC market to death.

>HURR DURR TR ISN'T 100% PERFECT IN EVERY USE CASE THEREFORE IT'S SHIT

Kill yourself already.

Completion is a good thing. Just look how the Intel CPUs have dominated the laptop market !!!

Have high doubts about amd making it back soon with decent laptop CPUs though

>Have high doubts about amd making it back soon with decent laptop CPUs though
Zen is a shoe-in for a good laptop CPU. Low power usage, better battery life, can potentially run higher clockspeeds, more actual cores instead of fake dual cores w/ HT, way better iGPU. What's not to like?

Show me one decent laptop having AMD processor comparable to an i7 Quad-core, high battery life time, at least 16 gb if ram and a decent screen, ideally with USB c and thunderbolt

They're not out yet. Raven Ridge is coming out later this year.

Any laptop anoincements at least ?

This isn't Raven Ridge but it's still pretty impressive they managed to put a full 65w 8 core desktop CPU in there. asus.com/Laptops/ROG-Strix-GL702ZC/

There's some leaks. Take with a grain of salt. hothardware.com/news/amd-raven-ridge-zen-apu-sisoftware-vega-gpu

Sup Forums can't even afford an 1800x

we're just interested in how the CPU market because it's been stagnant for so long and any new builder is forced to use a mediocre iteration of intel. fuck, more than 4 cores has only been available to the average market in the past year.

1800X isn't really a great buy, I see a lot more around here with 1600/1700.

>43 whs
>17 Inc
Is this a joke? Neither good battery nor portable. There are quad core ì7 with 14 Inc form factor and way bigger battery :/

Thx

Why are all imouto anime fucking abysmal

They're all made by the same guy.

why does he always pick the worst girl?
Not that there are much better girls

>breaking up intels monopoly
>stagnation in cpu market coming to an end
>bringing major benefits to consumers

It's nothing to get excited about I guess. Especially when you can look forward to next die shrink Intel is bringing with a whole 5%* IPC improvement.

*In one benchmark from from 2010.

Fucking tool.

More like 0% from IPC, 5% from clockspeed (and also resulting higher temps)

That's what happens when you bully AMD drones for over 10 years, they just got crazy

It's the first time in history this much computing power has been available to general consumers for this low of a price. If that doesn't bring some excitement you're just a fucking luddite, that's all there is to it.

>literally first day on Sup Forums

>literally every board needs to be an unending trashfire of retardation like Sup Forums

90% here dont even know how to program or are has access to infrastructure or production servers.

Majority of AMDrones are just a bunch of poor people, running old FX cpus counting changes to buy a ryzen, claiming its very good to justifiy to itself why he need to have a shitty machine.

Really, zen can be a good machine, for very specific loads as render or encoder or small server.

I would still stick with intel for vms, better performance all around

Pedro you're not even trying, back to the favela.

Favela monkey got so buttblasted he had to do shoop of someone of Taiwanese origin using the same derogatory imagery directed at him.

But that doesn't make sense, she's not even Brazilian, you empty-headed cannibal.

Kill yourself BR glueeater.

Got my 1700 for 250 right after it came out. Clocked to 4ghz and is stable... now after the 2 months of bios updates finished. I'd say pretty good value, I like not having to use windows ever again for gaming because passthough, as well as being able to run the better Linux minus GNU OS.

>inb4 gaymen
fuck off

If not for the price of DDR4 I would be upgrading my server. If you have a sufficient workload it's absolutely worth the money.

A 16 core CPU for $1000 was unfathomable even just a year ago. How the fuck is this not a good thing? Did you love being gouged by Intel back when they didn't have any competition?

>reddit spacing
Sasuga newfriend-kun

Ryzen is not Xeon or Opteron.

I think OP's point was that nobody here actually needs Threadripper, all the TR vs. i9 circlejerking is completely irrelevant and masturbatory.

>it's not even a consumer-grade cpu?
It is. You can buy it from your local hardware shop.

> another
It's the only one. Intel isn't really trying to get cheap CPUs out and AMD has nothing else.

>10 core intel chips keep up with it in heavily threaded workloads
I'd like the thank AMD for making Intel have to try again but it's still meh.

because most AMD users are really mad that intel has dominated for so long.

they were disappointed with bulldozer after months of saying it'll be great, now that ryzen is decent they think it's a big deal.

Off yourself animetard

But even the 1920 outperforms the 7900X in a fair amount of the benchmarks at $200 less.

I would like a thread ripper 16 cores over my 4790k, I multi-task on 3D rendering software, use handbrake after I'm done with many tabs openned in my browser to reffer to, I do sequantial image upscaling while doing all that. Also would like to have more than 16GB of RAM and better GPU than my 390. Originally built this PC for playing games and watching 1920x1080 res videos
