I don't know much about browsers, I have heard this botnet crap about chrome, my question is, are all chromium based browsers using botnet? Is it something inherent with chromium? Or is that not the case?

Both are open source so they should be fine.
I tried brave, but it used up 1.7GB of ram just from opening it and letting it sit idle, read that I was a bug, I gave up on it after an hour of use. Using vivaldi at the moment and it's great, fast and uses chrome extension so it was much easier for me to switch over from chrome/Firefox. I just transferred over all my bookmarks and stuff and was set.

'Brave' is a scam, Brendan goes around to companies and ask them to pay him in order to let their ads through, and anyone dumb enough to use 'Brave' get to see those ads.
It's literally a way to separate out the most stupid web users, because only they would run 'Brave' and subject themselves to ads so that Brendan Eich can be richer, because that's the entire scheme.
