The New Ubuntu Dock (First Look)

LMAO

it still looks like shit lmao

It looks like a bad deviant art skin for windows based on macos.

This is objectively disgusting

Why can't freetards into design?

it looks fine, just needs better icons and maybe a new theme

good thing that i use openbox. i have used it many years and nothing has changed in it.

...

>750x469

>it looks fine, just needs to be completely different

Ubuntu (vanilla) is always so damn ugly. They should take a page out of MATE's book, at least when it comes to Dock design

>.gif
>doesn't move
What did he mean by this?

What's the point of using vanilla Ubuntu when Gnome edition exists?

Vanilla comes with some gnome skins that tries to look like the old unity.

>tfw god tier Unity top global menu panel is getting replaced by a clock in the center.
>Putting the app launcher button on the dock right under the 'Activites' button which does the exact same thing.
why did Unity have to die brehs

>750x469
What is this running on? A microwave?

just compile it manually if you like it that much

that background, are you a faggot?

>"new" DE
>dont bother to change icons
guess we'll have to wait until 2019 at least

Are you cooking with butane gas?

>having a weirdass neon fursona
Is your fursona some sort of dog that was dipped in uranium?

>having a brand as wallpaper
>"flat" disgusting icons none of them are actually coherent with each other
>and then one icon is rounded because user is fucking lazy
truly the epitome of linux on the desktop

REEEEEEEEEEe
BRING BACK UNITY

>people care about DEs and GUI
Just learn to use a terminal, retarded illiterates.

Its a dichotomy for the existence of Ubuntu.

We expect it to move ahead, but its just stays the same.

>people care about CARS and PLANES
Just learn to use horses, retarded illiterates.

here is the deal: install dash to panel + arc menu

It's kind of a shame - unity is basically anti-rice and I think that's a good thing (at least nice to have within all the DEs). Gnome on the other hand forces you to rice because of how it behaves out of the box. I don't mind unity's default look either but this is gash. I guess you could get by with just dash to panel though.

i appreciate the accuracy

here is the deal: thats not the point

why do the apps have huge gaps between them
is this a touchscreen based environment

Needs more brown.

Get a (You). Nice one.

>clicking with the mouse
>navigating menus with the mouse
>having access to less features in a graphical frontend then you would with the original CLI program
>download hundreds of MBs of libraries and dependencies just to run a GUI
What a contrived analogy. You can do everything in a terminal more efficiently than you can in a GUI.

BRING
BACK
THE
GLOBAL
MENU

>super + type first few letters of application/file + tab + enter
or
>shortcut to open terminal
>cd dir
>cd d + tab + ir + enter
>vi f + tab + ile + enter

KeK

Underrated

This is obviously a WIP, hopefully it will end up as polished as Unity. I remember gnome before Ubuntu and it was total garbage, Ubuntu made it good and they will make gnome3 good.

PICKLE RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK!!!!!

dmenu >>> docks

You can change that. Not sure why you wouldnt. looks like ass.

Why is Ubuntu still fucking brown, and burnt orange?

Dont these autist know anything about color psychology? Ugly colors do not sell. Brown is an ugly color. Burnt orange looks like baby shit brown.

10+ fucking years since Ubuntu became mainstream, and these retards refuse to make something visually aesthetic. why?

Ubuntu looks so fucking ugly, and yes, you can change it,and customize it, but that's not their audience.

Dichotomy or analogy?

>Sup Forums hates it but /gd/ loves it

Guess whose opinion matters here?

ding ding ding

Why so much wasted space in that application screen?

I stopped using kde because of that

How does it look even worse than unity.

it's literally dash to dock

Link to thread.

Why are freetards absolutely incapable of UI design? Both Windows and macOS have good shells yet out of the hundreds of different shells available for linux there is not a single one that doesn't look straight up bad or just like a poor clone of the mac/Windows shell

Unity was probably the best they had

ubuntu BTFO!

>rad
>rootin' tootin'
Why does Joe Sneddon do this?

That operating system is fucked. Install Windows 10 LTSB.

That is the GNOME edition you fucking faggot

Gnome is vanilla ubuntu now, Unity is dead

>I remember gnome before Ubuntu and it was total garbage
i wish i could slap you.

>wasting time customizing and ricing desktops
don't you have a life or something

wrong. 16.04 is still current LTS and fully supported through most of 2018

Gnome can look way better than that.

Very good.

...

I can understand why they switched to gnome but I still dislike it. I still use XFCE on my workstations, tried Gnome few times but it still needs more work.

Maybe after Ubuntu releases new Gnome LTS we will see a usable Gnome default desktop without 5-10 extensions to make it usable.

Fuck you crappy niggering asshole
Ubuntu is my cock. I WILL play with it.
I let Ubuntu CUM all over me. I even let it shit in my mouth. I love the taste nigger.

You make sense to me nigger

wrong
Wayland is new default for next LTS
Unity was dropped for GNOME

seems pretty good

>so white
how do you deal with the eye strain user?

Why can't freetards into design?
Besides eOS and Solus there is literally no aesthetically pleasing distro out of box.

This is what I did except for the gaps between the launchers. Then I realized that's just cinnamon but more bloated.

You must know that in general Sup Forums has a Luddite mentality and tend to be influenced by the aggressive opinion of the majority instead of thinking by themselves, they don't like new Firefox, new Ubuntu. They will like it only if it would be called neo-Fox or neo-Buntu, then they'll think that that's cool and superior.

>canonical, my son
>it's time to pick a DE for your distro
>will you pick glorious qt-based
>or bloated with no features
>...

except access files if you dont remember its exact name and location. still easy if you remember it but annoying af if you dont.

qt is ugly bloat

...MATE doesn't have a dock, user...

Ubuntu just loose it's only added value by droping Unity.

>Was originally hyped for LXqt
>Now dreading it phasing out LXDE

>ubuntu drops unity
>replaces it with THIS

wtf I love unity now

looks better than unity, that's for sure

improvement over the old unity 7 interface, definitely, but it's a step down from unity 8. Meh.
