>What a shame there are plans to demolish the old Flitwick Lesiure Centre when it could be used to rehouse some of the millions of desperate refugees who have fled hellhole countries like Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia and Greece only to find themselves trapped in hellhole France.
>A couple of hundred of these poor wretched people would probably feel very much at home in Flitwick. And allowing them to settle there would also help change Central Bedfordshire's demographics to more accurately reflect those in the other parts of our multi-cultural country like Bradford, Rochdale, and Luton.
>What is more, as we have three churches here in neighbouring Ampthill - which few, if any, people ever attend apart from at Christmas - one could easily be converted into a mosque to cater for Muslims among the immigrants.
>Charlie Garth
I don't know what to think of Charlie, two weeks ago he was bragging about having voted Brexit.

I've been wondering if digesting a large amount of news media everyday, like most people on this sub, actually has a detrimental effect on a person rather than a positive or neutral one.
I can't really think of any significant positive effects, although I think reading/watching news media discussing minority issues or articles from the point of view of people of a similar background to myself (parents are refugees/immigrants) has definitely had a positive impact on me personally.
So I was wondering what all of you thought:
Would your life actually be better if you actively avoided news media?
I can't imagine ever changing who I'd vote for in a general election. For me, there isn't anything the Conservative party could do to get me to vote for them and I live in an area that is hugely pro-Labour so it's not like my vote would impact the result anyway.
95% of news items are depressing and just being aware of these issues doesn't change them unless you are willing to actively campaign for or against them. And since I know I'm not willing to do so, what is the purpose of simply being aware?
Has anyone tried to isolate themselves from the news? How did it affect you?
ah, so she is actually British then.
I think most people are saying they'll move to Germany rather than Direland
loads of businesses have already moved to ireland over the years, this isn't some made up thing

The so called BBC
Rev. Giles Fraser and Dreda Say–Mitchell voted to leave.
Not all leavers voted for reasons of nationalism / pulling up the metaphoric drawbridge, they saw the E.U. as ignoring the world outside and rules on immigration as unfair.
