They didn't have to use the projects Twitter account to take a stance on this issue though. They could very well could have commented on Daily Stormer through their personal accounts but they preferred to do otherwise. They deliberately meddled politics into the project themselves. What is your point really? Do you wan't some picky faggot mod like the /sec/ has? Does talking about political issues regarding open source communities make you uncomfortable?
It could be much better if we could take politics out of open source community to prevent fragmentation among the developers and users but it becomes really hard to do when a project that claims to defend free speech takes a stance against a certain ideology.
I'm saying that I am uncomfortable with the number of people here that simply don't understand enough to be involved in the conversation yet attempt to have an opinion anyway despite this being the technology board, a place where I want to go to escape that kind of fuckery.

What do they don't understand that doesn't grant them enough privilege to talk about this topic? Tor Project can very well become corrupt in the future, discussing something like that beforehand can prevent a lot of damage by allowing the project to be forked into something else.

You don't have to know everything about everything, you just have to know a little bit about the things you care about. I follow the development of the open source projects that I care about and I make an attempt to understand what is going on and what is being changed. I'm subscribed to a number of development mailing lists for software I have never contributed a single line of code to, so I can read the patches. When I discuss these projects on the internet, I like to think that my opinions are well reasoned, or at least based on better sources than fucking Twitter.
I don't expect everyone in the Tor threads to be like this, but if Sup Forums was good, there would be enough of them that the technical discussion would drown out the mindless panic and FUD.
