Programming is using compiled languages.
Coding is interpreted.
Programming and coding are two different things.
The people I'm referring to don't understand that.
"programmers" are brainlets
coders write shit like pic related: code that brainlets can't decipher
Coders use lisp
coding is a part of the programming process that involves writing the program code
So coders write terrible C++ using new features they don't fully understand, and do it in a way that ensures no one else will either? Got it.
>someone complains about a pointless thing that doesn't effect them
this is the codefag equivalent of getting pissed over people who don't know the difference between open and closed back headphones.
not everyone is as autistic as you jared
bump because fuck you normalfags
Funnily enough I also sperg out over that too. Sh-shit. Am I actually autistic?
What horrible syntax
Someone shoot the sepples devs before they go any further
More like
>someone refers to operating a motor vehicle as "vehicling"
"Coding" is appropriate only when used with a direct object.
>someone refers to writing CSS as programming
Says who you fat retard?
Wtf like complied? Dumb shit I am interuppted language hahah
What does this distinction actually mean? Aren't all programming languages compiled into machine language and then binary?
get over it you fucking poseur
affect
This
Not exactly. Here: en.m.wikipedia.org
The difference is that subroutines are in machine code, and statements are translated into those. This results in ease-of-use at the cost of performance, so usually interpreted languages aren't considered as "serious" as compiled languages
No, affect is like poison and shit. You know, status affects.
We're female
We're smart
We code.
Language evolves, and you're little boys club has been blown wide open by smart women all over the world. "programming" is a thing of the past.
So what do I call it when I'm writing bash scripts? Is that just scripting?
I usually say the opposite.
For me, programming is interactive or interpreted. Can be also like 'hacking'.
Coding is compiled - first you code, then compile. Programming is when you program.
...
>some lose their shit over nothing
I hate when people say code instead of program because, as others have mentioned, it's like saying you are "car-ing" or "vehicle-ing" instead of driving. When programming, you are writing and manipulating code for compilation or interpretation; the only real way to use code as a verb is when you are changing the nature of a predefined message, e.g. sending something over telegraph.
I used to not care. Those days are over. Now, I consider "coder" to be a red flag, letting me know what whoever/whatever said it doesn't have the first fucking clue what they're doing and is probably some sort of "social justice" fruitcake.
>someone refers women as "humans"
Sad
This thread is stupid and you should feel stupid.
This is a retarded distinction.
if (1) { something(); }
Did I just program or code?
You will never know.
You guys are too autistic. As so many things its not about truth but about perception:
Programming is long and awkward and implies eternal boredom and virginity
Coding is short and snappy. 10% raise every month and you get all the girls
>Yeah I'm a front-end coder

Thanks Kode will Karlie
Does Karlie Kode or Program?
I keep getting ads about that Kode Karlie girl.
