Now that Google is starting to ban people from using their products and services for Wrong Think or some shit, I am going to need to find an alternative. I use google products and services as a work tool, but I cannot wait until they redeem that one of my file on Gdrive has a banned word in it or something.
I am looking for alternatives. Can you tell me what you are using or recommending for:
>email client >cloud hosting for data (like Google Drive) >calendar (synched with smartphone) >map and moving around (like Google Maps) >contacts hosting (like contacts.google.com) >internet search >phone independent from Google >video platform for hosting (like YouTube)
I am going to need to change my workflow, simply work or synch on Google docs and have everything connected won't do it anymore. If I lose my work Google account I pretty much lose my job right now.
If his stats have some valid basis or sources and are defined correctly, he can sue them for mad dough.
Tyler Wilson
Looks like his crime was thinking too much!
Can't have that on Google services!
Parker Howard
Who knows why he was banned tho. Maybe one time in 2004 he called someone a nigger in an email and Google can say that it's against their policy that he signed.
This makes me worried.
Lucas Davis
If it's the reason stated in regards to stats, he can successfully sue them anyhow. Anything else doesn't matter in court as it practices impartiality especially in cases regarding statistics and math. He can do them in for defamation while at it.
Camden Rivera
MAybe he shouldn't be calling people niggers in his emails? Maybe he shouldn't be using an email client where they scan your emails for the word nigger?
Elijah Cox
Sure Tyrone, now be a good little nigger and go wait for your dad to come home.
Kayden Phillips
>maybe you should be wearing that skirt if you don't want to be raped by a nigger? Not an argument mate. Niggers aside, what software/sites do you use?
Jason Cruz
Email and search is too important for me, unfortunately. I might switch to some other email service if they offer more gigabytes, I want at least like 5-10gb for free. The google search is irreplacable at the moment, there is just no way I'm risking using some inferior search and missing out on the right result.
Nathaniel Lopez
I shall now begin to be the least helpful I can.
>email client People will recommend stuff like photonmail, which is relatively expensive imo, I think tutanota is just fine for what you can get free. >cloud hosting for data (like Google Drive) MEGA is good imo, but there are a crap ton of alternative and you can find one that fits your usage style best, like dropbox, onedrive, I'm sure there are open source alternatives out there if that's important >calendar (synched with smartphone) They sell them at walmart but as far as apps are concerned you can try these techrepublic.com/blog/smartphones/the-five-best-android-calendar-apps/ >map and moving around (like Google Maps) >wanting someone to track your movements Buy a fucking real map >contacts hosting (like contacts.google.com) Use a notebook faggot This might be a decent place to start techrepublic.com/blog/five-apps/five-apps-that-leave-google-contacts-manager-in-the-dust/ >internet search Nothing compares to google but, startpage, duckduckgo, ecosia, yandex >phone independent from Google Apple? Old flip phones? A house phone, rooted android with a good firewall. >video platform for hosting (like YouTube) Veoh, Vid.me, Minds, Email the video file.
Easton Ramirez
Fair enough. And it's not like I will tell my clients all of the sudden "please stop contacting me on my .gmail.com because I'm paranoid". What do you use for Gdrive equivalent? This one is a bit crucial too, I have all my scanning, my papers, contracts, etc. Of course I have a hard copy, but what if my home burns down and shit, you know.

>>email client Your own, lesser know local alternatives, cock.li >>le cloud This is a literal meme, set up your own FTP server for Christ's sake >>calendar >what is a physical calendar made of paper >>map >what is a physical map made of paper >>contacts manager >what is an agenda >>non goygle phone Dumbphone >>videohosting Depends on usage, if content creator you're cucked by YouTube, if for personal usage vid.me, DailyMotion or other meme "competitors". Minds.com is also bretty gud.
That wasn't so hard, was it? If only you used your own brain and made the effort to think of or find alternatives to goy's traps.
Jeremiah Barnes
>>email client thunderbird and own server, maybe mailbox.org, cock.li or whatever >>cloud hosting for data (like Google Drive) nextcloud on own server >>calendar (synched with smartphone) nextcloud on own server >>map and moving around (like Google Maps) openstreetmap on your own server >>contacts hosting (like contacts.google.com) nextcloud on your own server >>internet search hex editor >>phone independent from Google nokia 5110 >>video platform for hosting (like YouTube) ftp on your own server

While I agree with this, the reverse is also true, OP has not tried to shut down Google or denied their rights, only to make the same decision they made, going somewhere else. (Also when this comic was made the topic was focused on public universities, which are government funded, and don't have the right to tell you to fuck off)
he thins out of the box too much. a well deserved ban.
Jaxson Cox
Fuck off back to Sup Forums or r/the_Donald, or whatever other gay shithole you crawled out of. I don't say this because the content of your post is anti Sup Forums; it is in fact perfectly aligned with most of our values. However, by making this thread you have exposed yourself as nothing more than a newfag redditor. If you were really Sup Forums you would know that we have this thread about 20 times a day, and that everyone who knows shit about technology already knows the alternatives.
Connor Russell
Thanks mates.
Kevin Watson
>Being this elitist If someone wants to break away from the botnet why not help them out, whatever their motive is? Blue Board
Blake Murphy
>why not help them out because this massive influx of Sup Forumstards is just filling up the catalog with duplicate threads. OP could have literally googled "alternative to (google service)" and he would find good alternatives. He could have checked the archive and seen that in the past few weeks we have literally gotten dozens of threads asking the same exact thing. I'm annoyed at his incompetence, not his goals.
Wyatt Price
Will I get banned if I keep searching for niggers gonna nig videos and images?
Camden Cruz
Go to Waterfox for browser and use Ecosia for search.
Sebastian Adams
fuck off i will speak my mind wherever i want if you don't like it there's the door
Jayden Taylor
Let them do it. For once they may even learn more about Technology and also move to alternatives. It's a good thing to help people who need it.
Bentley Phillips
You know about startpage, right? They basically search what you want on Google and give it back to you while preserving your privacy.
Nathan Perry
So what was the stated reason for which this guy got google-killed? The article makes that completely unclear.
Leo Peterson
>If you were really Sup Forums you would know that we have this thread about 20 times a day We have most threads 20 times a day.
>>email client Do you mean service or client? I switched to Startmail, you can get away with Cock if you don't wanna pay money. If you want a desktop mail client I like Sylpheed. >>cloud hosting for data (like Google Drive) Don't use it. If I wanted to I'd get a VPS. You can still find HDD-backed ones that are rather slower but give you lots of space for cheap. >>calendar (synched with smartphone) Also don't use, never had the need to between my brain and a pocket pen-and-paper notebook. >>map and moving around (like Google Maps) OSM. Available in F-droid. I've never used it for turn-by-turn navigation because I can actually read a map, but I hear it works fine. Only thing you lose is real-time traffic. (which I replaced by putting a news station in my car's radio presets) >>contacts hosting (like contacts.google.com) Also don't use this. Your email provider will remember email contacts anyway. Phone numbers I just have entries for in my password manager, I restore them manually if they're lost. >>internet search Startpage, DDG, etc >>phone independent from Google Anything you can put Lineage on, then just don't flash Google's spyware on it. I picked a Motorola G4 play, it was cheap, has a removable battery, is easily unlocked, and it worked without a hassle for me. >>video platform for hosting (like YouTube) Stop watching video, it's bad for you in the same way television is.
Anyway it kind of amuses me that you alt-right folks are just now realizing that a giant corporation with a big brother business model might be a bad idea. Like, you had no inkling of this before? Google's conduct was disturbing a decade ago.

I understand that they are not a charity and have to earn money one way or another, but that behavior towards people outside of their ecosystem is just not nice.

Im a lib and stuff, but this has disturbed because even though it's happening on the right now, it'll eventually happen on the left. These things are cyclical. So i'm switching off the botnet as much as I can now.

Right now, my friend, is what we call "the test of character". Any tech company that is banning nazis for PR should be considered 100% compromised. Any service virtue signalling but not outright banning people should be considered suspect. Finally the brave contrarians, few and far between, should be remembered.
Austin Collins
For maps you can get offline mapping apps, means your not being tracked but you get that extra convenience

email client: just use a webclient cloud hosting: use a free file hosting website and keep all your data on a solid state drive calendar synced with smartphone: you can pick a calendar up at Walmart but you'll need to ditch the smartphone, chances are it's an apple or Google phone anyway, and if it's not chances are it uses apple or Google services, and if it doesn't it's probably a piece of shit that won't sync to anything anyway. map: check any tourist location for one and use landmarks around you to triangulate your position and don't give me that "but what if I'm in the wilderness" bullshit because your smartphone won't work there anyway. contacts hosting: nothing wrong with a pen and paper or business cards. Internet search: use any terminal phone independent from google: I would recommend a disposable Walmart phone video platform: I hear pornhub is pretty cool about these kinds of things.
Joshua Foster

This clearly shows the nature of the freemium model that Google has patented at the end of the day, you are not a client of their service, so they can change the conditions whenever they want, and you have no guarantees whatsoever about it ie: youtubers getting out of business after years of work creating content
worst of all, now if their agenda is not aligned with yours, they stop giving you the service. Years ago, such a move was a PR disaster, but now that it is trendy to hate on the current USA gov, these moves are publicized and celebrated
Ryan Walker
(cont) >but you are nazis it is funny how some people are using that term to refer to anyone that thinks different from them and funnier that those people are the ones who think they are the moral and judging authority in what is good and what is bad and it is happening everywhere: from afroamericans calling racism at whatever they like, even the authority to feminists calling harrasment at whatever they want, even entire industries, like vidya and now self proclaimed free speech defenders, claiming nazism at whatever they find hostile, which is whatever contradicts their statements even studies, or employees
the good outcome of all these is that more people will realize how much control Google has of the current Internet; this way, things could move forward accordingly, avoiding future ideological traps like this one
