obviously

>spreading out sound waves and contaminating them with other sound waves is better than directly injecting them into your ears
lol no

>He doesn't jam out in his mattress wall rape basement.

In a studio setting, speakers produce clearer sound, especially since 85dB not booming into your head > 85dB booming into your head.

In any setting, the closer a sound is to your ears, the quicker your hearing degrades. It also allows editing sessions to go on longer due to less fatigue.

3/10 bait

>hpg shitposting is so strong it cannot be contained

As an owner of both studio monitors and studio headphones, monitors are objectively better if you have the right acoustic treatment. With that said, there will be things you hear with headphones that may not be heard on monitors. That's why both are necessary but monitors are better.

My neighbor thinks so too

Headphones are better resolving unless you have a quiet treated room and good speakers.

The opposite is true for me, but I use both for editing for different reasons. I'll use my headphones with my speakers running sometimes just to make sure any clicks, thumbs, etc. are coming from the file and not any other obstruction.

Sometimes I wear my headphones and just have the subwoofer on for that extra presence in the bass.

What are the meme of the month speakers?

He's right though.

this is true

Nope, even a typical untreated room is actually a lot better to engineer for than headphones. Headphones are ultra near-field and have complex interactions with the shape of the ear and the skull itself. Just compare real in-room response graphs from a simple LSR305 desk setup to pretty much any headphones' frequency response.

If you live somewhere where you can actually use speakers without disturbing the entire neighbourhood then yeah, speakers are great.
I don't though, so headphones will have to do for me.

A decent speaker setup is much more expensive.

Speakers are for Chads. The contemplative and ascetic NEET prefers headphones.

How am I supposed to listen to my anime intro music collection and night core music with speakers? What, you expect me to reveal my power level to the entire block?

MB42x + SMSL SA50 = under $200
no it's not much more expensive

>In any setting, the closer a sound is to your ears, the quicker your hearing degrades.
Are these studies properly comparing wattage input into the ear?

>not appreciating the acoustic idiosyncrasies of the space around you
>not feeling the low end vibrating in your chest and your clothing
Pleb

Micca OriGain is not much more expensive than the sa-50, it has a sub out and it's also a dac

>xi doesn't share their tastes in porn with their neighbourhood
fag

I prefer not to wear ear heaters. My ears are already warm enough.

>He says far away in his own thread and not the hpg.
Coward

Studio monitors have very few memes, since most people purchasing them have a legitimate professional usage for them. These people will have HS series, MR's, those JBL whatever models
But some people just want muh speakers to hold over other people as a status symbol or to one-up people who use only headphones, these kinds of people buy KRK memes (because overpriced) and probably have some fucking dogshit garbage headphones like M50's

Not those speakers. I've had those shits for three years and I absolutely can't wait to be rid of them.

Christ, are you the guy that put up the same threads on Sup Forums?

KRK's aren't overpriced though? I looked at them pretty seriously because they were front ported, which is good for my desk situation, and found them for around the same price as the JBL.

Didn't like the way they looked or sounded in the end though.

I got a pair of Mackie MR5's for $300 (basic and tiny, but still better than the DT 770's I had at the time)
Also don't get memed by DACs, you don't need over-CD-quality input (odds are you don't even need an input at all) and you don't need more than a simple volume control of a stereo out, bit depth is practically meaningless for you and sample freq usually isn't very high for average song files anyways

They are overpriced, you're likely looking at 5 inch models, which are gonna be priced like 5 inch monitors regardless of the brand
Having had 5, 6 and 8 inch monitors (with a 10 inch sub for the 5" pair), I'd say go for the 8 inch right off the bat if you care about neutral, or go for a fatty sub and 5's if you care about parties

>tfw they'll never experience music like it's meant to be

Headphonefags will never understand what a 3 dimensional stereo image sounds like.

Do a 360 of your room so I can properly roast you and your awful acoustic hackjob
Do you even know where you're supposed to be dampening echoes?
Looks like you just hung that foam up for the aesthetic, might as well have used egg crates brahther

>that door frame
Do you live in a trailer?

>3 dimensional
>don't own a 5.1/7.1/atmos system

I like using speakers but there are times when I just gotta use headphones
For instance, I don't want my neighbors hearing my japanese hentai going on in the background right when the girl starts doing that aah aaaaah ahhhhhhhh kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~ shit at the climax.

Lol drop dead faggot
I'm not a home theater person, but I listened to a definitive tech Atmos demo at the last audio show I went to and it was very impressive.

You don't invite your neighbors over to watch porn?

Course not, the last thing I need is some old mexican granny watching me whack it in the privacy of my own home.

how can I achieve my dream of using a thousand different speaker drivers with a god-like crossover for ultimate frequency seperation

What you described is called a constant beamwidth transducer. Lots of smaller high excursion drivers that deliver a uniform dispersion pattern at high spls. Similar to a line array but refined for indoor use.

>Indoor/outdoor carpet
>Baseboard heaters
>Fake wood paneling
You should come listen to my electrostatic setup I have in my cardboard box behind Walmart.
Also fix your cable situation. Looks like you don't even care.

Lol that's not at all what I'm talking about

My bad, didn't read the "different" part.

>MB42x + SMSL SA50

That's my setup. Nice improvement over the built-in monitor speakers I was using before. It was nice to finally have a left and right channel.

>not using purposely broken earbuds to enjoy that authentic crinkly vinyl sound

What thread?
