I want to slip my way into some basic tier helpdesk job so I can have better money then study for the real shit I want to do, that being DFIR. I get bored studying for the A+ but I know it's probably more immediate for me than learning about write-blockers and encryption.

If I can be convinced that I can jump right into DFIR, then I'll probably skip the first step. I want to beleive.

Sounds interesting.
Any idea about how to break through and get experience in the field? Or what to learn in order to build up your knowledge in that area?

Love the company since it's really generous and wants you to grow but the other departments "agile" workflows are annoying when you have to deal with all their bullshit and last minute cramming.

How did you get the job?

Found it on indeed. It's pretty cool since all I have as an educational background is an associate from a cc in business technolog.

what companies hire digital forensic analysts? Private, government?

right now I work on data structures for representing genome variation among humans. The idea is that someday we'll be able to sequence someone's genome and quickly annotate all of their mutations and correlate those mutations with diseases. Right now we can do that with single-base mutations, but not really with complicated rearrangements of the genome that happen in certain areas, where large segments get inverted/moved/deleted/inserted/etc. For example the BRCA region has a huge amount of variation among humans, and some genotypes are very strongly correlated with breast cancer, so it would be nice to be able to detect those

Love it, somehow my job is always taken care of by someone else. Eager interns, co-workers etc. I basically review other peoples work all day. Takes like a couple hours tops. I come half an hour early, leave half an hour late and spend half my day bullshitting around the building.
>Where do you want to work next
No where. I will coast this until I am dead or the bank fails. One's more likely to happen than the other. Worst case, stuff changes and I have to actually start doing my job again (oh no)

is that you in the pic?

15$ an hour, i am videographer of the sorts. i am helping with a college get interviews and information by conducting interviews. It's pretty tight, some days are so slow i just shitpost all day but now i am just doing tons of editing which sucks but still fun at times since i am learning new skills. unfortunately summer is almost over and that's when my contract ends. Usually i do IT work but this has been a great learning experience and i would want to do more media work in the future rather than IT.

Quit your whining fuccboi, tons of musicians out there would literally kill you for the opportunity to get a record contest

Not him But most record contracts are worthless and fucks you over. This user doesn't sounds like he's turning down $1million contracts. He's prob been offer a contract that's only worth 20k and locks him into a company for 10 years where everything he makes belongs to the company.

Yep, same when it comes to writing. Publishing houses cannot be trusted unless you learn the business side.
