/edc/ Every Day Carry

...

Moto Sup Forums4, a few keys, card wallet.

Imagine walking around carrying that.
>Sir, drop the object and move very slowly away from it or we will shoot

-bulkier than a laptop
-smaller clearly painful keyboard
-literally as powerful as a mobile phone

+lighter weight probably
why is this a thing

It's not important why, but just that we can.

>or we will shoot
In the states? They go straight to the BRAKKA BRAKKA.

And no "Sir" about it.

>BRAKKA BRAKKA

skrr skrr sheesh turnup

Just tell them it's a clock.

thats not a bad reimaginating of a cyberdeck

Currently I only carry around my phone (Galaxy S6), my wallet, and my house key on a keyring. I'd like to start carrying around more than 3 things, but don't have a backpack, and not keen on getting a bulky one, don't have a laptop, so a laptop bag won't be fully utilised

>I'd like to start carrying around more than 3 things
Why, just for the fuck of it?

well that, but I've come across situations where I've needed things like screw drivers, multitools, battery banks, etc.
it'd also be nice to carry around some minor medical supplies like bandaids and alcohol wipes, as well as a few other things.

....are you a video game character? Unless you are on a job, why do you need that stuff?

More power to you, but as someone who has been down that road before I think you should reconsider. I know I'd feel really good when I had the thing I needed but I'd conveniently ignore the trouble of lugging stuff around every day that I didn't need it. And those "it would be nice to..." things really add up over time. Know what's actually useful? Putting those things in emergency bags, kits for a car, etc. Contexts where it's ready for a major calamity. But when it comes to every day, on balance you're not coming ahead loading up like an urban commando.

I don't know user, am I? how can I be sure?
but honestly, just to be prepared for any realistic occurrences

yeah, that I'm aware of, but being a college student that usually carries around a notepad and some papers anyway, I was considering adding a few smaller things into a decent sized, multi-compartment laptop bag, something fit for 15" laptops, so then I can start carrying around my laptop too.
Also, I don't currently have a drivers license. I'm 27. I get 'looks' any time it comes up in a conversation.

It's fine to not have a car or license. I'm just using that as an example where you can have useful items without literally carrying them every day. It's like those people who carry various tools because "they open/work on/whatever stuff at work." Well then keep one or more of those tools handy at work. Anyway if you find yourself needing your laptop throughout the day then great. Something tells me you've already got a good idea of what you actually need every day though.

>That speech pattern.
>No drivers licence in a place where it is generally accepted.

Ah,an aspie. That all checks out.

Up until recently, I've had no use for it since my girlfriend is willing to drive me places since she works near where I go to college. Or, if she gets off work later than I get off for the day, I just bus it home. For the most part, I'd probably just get a motorbike.
Although you're probably correct.
Yeah that's understandable. Pretty much the only storage I get is any bag I bring for the day, so storing it there is a bit risky since there's a good chance some prick pinches it.
Yeah, I've got a decent idea of stuff I'd usually need. Mainly just a laptop since I can't be bothered using pen and paler anymore, then some smaller thinks like cheap chink toolsets probably.

Yeah, in which case you will be invited to the White House ... for some BRAKKA BRAKKA.

>where I've needed things like screw drivers, multitools
Do you realise you can be arrested for carrying that? No joking, a screw driver will be considered a weapon as deadly as a knife. A dude around here was escorted to his work place by the police who wanted to be sure he carries a rather long screwdriver for purely work purposes. Since this was not in the states he as not immediately invited to sample some hot lead.

The rest of your list sounds like you want to open an impromptu cyberpunk street surgery which will make the police more intrigued than you really would like to.

Take care, user.

Get a life
Bin that screwdriver

Why do people buy those awful keyboards? What the fuck is wrong with you?

They're OK for something like a Kodi box when you only occasionally have to type something, but doing it with a real remote would be a pain. Maybe even for watching YouTube on a TV connected to a PC. But why do people do stuff like OP, I don't know. He would literally be confused for carrying some kind of a bomb.

...

>powerbanks
Useful for when your phone is running low on battery and you can't plug it to a wall socket
>screwdrivers etc.
a small multitool doesn't take much space and can be useful. I have to carry my laptop to work every day so its not much of a burden to put a multitool and a powerbank in the laptop bag as well

not in a position spergy enough to snap a photo but
>lg g4
>pebble steel
>leather wallet
>a t420 (soon!)

Yes it is

>pebble steel
How is it? Been thinking of getting a pebble

i like it but my buttons are failing after 8 months of daily use

A 10 year old X-series Thinkpad is more powerful and portable.

>Sony Xperia Z3c
>watch (one of several, currently a Raketa Copernic)
>wallet
>keys
>pendrive
>Rotring Rapid Pro mechanical pen

And if I'm on a working day
>Thinkpad x230
>cat6 cables
>rs232 cable
>USB to rs232 adapter
>assortment of screwdrivers
>zipties
>multimeter
>ear protection
>notebook

Picture related, current watch.

...

LG G6
RFID blocking wallet
Keys
Headphones
Small notebook
Pebble Time
Fisher AG-7 Pen
Pendrive
AO Pilot Sunglasses

Get an old gas mask bag, they're cheap, hard wearing and pretty conveniently sized for sub-laptop tasks
