Tfw you buy a 8tb seagate ironwolf drive, thinking it'll last you a few years before it's full

>tfw you buy a 8tb seagate ironwolf drive, thinking it'll last you a few years before it's full
>3 weeks later, it's almost full

Welp.

whats on the drive?
does anyone ever sell drives with movies on and stuff?

What do you hoard?

>he only has 8TB

probably HQ rips of every single animu

sauce pls
also, same thing for me except drive died :(

It's not worth storing anime above 720p

Cuckegurui

>a single 8TB drive
Hope you have backups OP

The file size is not that bigger but you are right.

>SAS
>not NVMe

2D porn, 3D porn, fuckton of images and music. No movies or videos.

and you didnt RMA it?

>seagate
hope you backed that shit up somewhere

they're HDDs you tard

i have had 2 x 2tb fail this year... they were mirrored so didnt loose anything important

poor at the moment.... no mirror living on the knifes edge

welp

I know that feel

I'll lose all my NAS data, unmirrored of my 2tb dies. Probably buy a mirror drive in a few months though

>buying anything but Ultrastar HE8's

I currently have a 6TB mirror array that replaced my full 4TB mirror array. I kinda regret not getting 8TB drives, but I have another pair of 6TB drives that I intend to make part of my main storage pool. Right now the extra pair of drives is just used for backups. I kinda regret not getting 8TB drives, but 12TB should be ok for another couple of years I think. I'll probably get another pair of 4TB drives too, that way I can make a raidz or raid5 array that I can use for backups. I don't really need backups of all that data. I could probably fit everything important to me on one of my old 320GB drives, but fiddling around with stuff like this is fun to me.

I used to be a data hoarder but after I built my new PC a few weeks ago, I've made the effort to keep only what I need. I went from a Frankenstein's monster of hard drives from dinky old 500internals to various mybooks and other externals of various sizes cluttering my desk to one 120gb SSD for system and programs, 1 4tb HGST for critical files (or rather, media I'd really hate to lose like music and games), and one of those 8tb wd reds I shucked from the recent Best Buy deal for everything else (movies, anime, etc. are not hard to find and I'm set for life on all PTs so I can watch and delete as I please and if I want to watch something again, I have the buffer to burn)

Folders are neatly organized and I know where everything is and where everything goes, I also have fewer sata cables cluttering my case so it looks nicer and once I got an m.2 I'll have even less, and above all, I don't constantly fret collecting more shit. I can go on the computer and watch something, I don't need checklists and ever growing backlogs of getting things in order.

Cleanliness really is next to godliness.

Should I raid 1 or raid 5.
raid 1 feel like wasted too much while raid 5 need huge amount of money to set up.

>1 4tb HGST for critical files (or rather, media I'd really hate to lose like music and games)
What do you do for backups?

RAID 5 doesnt require a huge amount of money, it is literally a extra disk and a ~$50 card. You'll spend more on a new BBU than you will on the card.

>hes not watching it already

I would personally go with raid1. It seems the rebuild times for mirrored arrays are faster and safer than raidz or raid5. Adding or upgrading storage later would be easier and cheaper too.

I plan to just copy with one of my old external 4tbs every month or so for music, everything else I'm leaving in HGST's hands. If you want you can add another drive for RAID, the point I was making is more about having less storage space available will lead to less abuse and a healthier frame of mind.

>that stupid-ass plot
>7.85 on mal
It can't possibly be that good, can it?

MAL ratings are only good to tell you if a series is shit. If it has less than 7, it's literally not worth your time in any capacity, but anything higher and it's YMMV (It's probably still shit but you might be able to enjoy them ironically/post-ironically.)

It isn't actually hentai is it

Nope

I once bought a used drive, and it was full of movies, anime, and games when I got it home.

what the fuck do you store?

Why do they even bother if they aren't going to make good porn out of it?

Mostly video at 13TB. Another ~5TB will also be used for a months worth of nightly backups of 60-70 VMs. And ~2TB for my Steam library.

It is also mirrored across servers so I can take a node offline without losing access to the data so cut the capacity in half to 32TB.
