gaijin living in japan here

op pls go and stop taking photos in public

im 12 and what is this

they have these is austiralia I reall hate these things.
there sould be signs saying hold on to your ticket.
btw good luck with you have two small toddlers using those damn machines.

Hentai isn't anime...

Its a ticket scanner for going on trains and boats and the like. it lets you get in.

>In Japan right now
The age of consent in Japan is 13
Take that as you will

Ah fuck, I just realised that the blue thing was a cover that folded down

Aware now

No it's not.

A cleaner photo for you guys.

And fun fact, no matter how you put the ticket in, like face up or down, forward facing or backward facing, the ticket come out in one direction. A lot of mechanism is used for this minor but lovely stuff.

>not using suica

By the same token, there is no age of consent in America.

nice photo user! hope you enjoy japan while you're there

Do all Japanese people react the way Kanna did after using the ticket scanner?

ICOCA is better as I'm in Osaka, and no, we usually use ticket for taking Shinkansen, since we don't usually put too much money into the card.

Who is we

>not having 40000円on your card

Die serf.

By we I mean tourist.

Okay, sorry.

Not everywhere. And guess what, if she tells you raped her afterwards, it's you who will be fucked.

is this the gaijin tech thread

I'm a Pasmo man.

The shinkansen is unexpectedly smooth, wtf I love Japan now.

How do you live in Japan user?

sauce

stoodent

This law has been misinterpreted by foreigners countless times.

Do you understand Japanese? Is it hard to live a normal life there if you don't know a single tiny little bit of it? Was thinking about having an exchange there.

Well enough to live I guess, though my language level is garbage for having lived here for like 4 years.

Obviously knowing absolutely nothing is bad but you can get by with a surprising little.

That looks so unnecessarily complex

Age of consent is 16 in Tokyo idiot.

MAMONAKU MAMONAKU

It is unnecessarily complex. As I said, they have included the mechanism to flip the ticket to the right orientation, which takes up quite a lot of space compared to other turnstiles. And well, maybe there's other functions that I haven't discovered.

thanks for the picture user

Was in Japan until yesterday. The Shinkansen Superexress is the best thing they have ever done. It's a shame the JR pass doesn't let you use the Nosomi and Mizuho.

Also used the EVA 500 which is an Evangelion themed Shinkansen between Osaka and Hakata.

Multiple ticket formats, ability to process multiticket transactions where some come back and others are kept (say, base fare plus assigned seat upgrade, where the turnstile keeps the base fare ticket so you can't hand Tokyo-Hakata off inside the station to someone willing to accept standing room only who passed through the turnstile on a Tokyo-Shinagawa ticket.)

how about holding your phone still?

...

>could have make it suck the ticket with vacuum and 2 bar code sensor up and down.
>but no, lets make it mechanical because we gendems.

Japan is what I consider the ideal country to live in. To imply that their public transportation is shit is laughable.

All hail King Jim!

what the fuck are you implying?

as if anyone cares about that
they probably flip it around so it can be scanned properly
they should have just used mirrors so both sides can be seen by a single scanner at once, if a scanner each side is just too expensive, which i doubt it is compared to all that mechanical stuff

that goes for any age

Good luck getting your solution to work near-flawlessly with a turnaround cycle of around a second, using technology available in the mid-80s.

it will be hard but doable.
the locals will not have any respect for you though.
integrate or fuck off whito piggu.

those mechanical stuff are around since the 20s.

Some are magstripe. Some aren't. Some are large and can be inserted with 4 orientations, some are small and can be inserted with 8 orientations. Some need to be punched, and some need to be stamped. Some need to be shredded by the machine, and some need to be returned. This needs to work perfectly during rush hour with several thousand people per minute using a bank of turnstiles.

Ticket format was redesigned and moved to near-full automation around when JR privatized, so I'm being charitable.

>Some are magstripe. Some aren't. Some are large and can be inserted with 4 orientations, some are small and can be inserted with 8 orientations. Some need to be punched, and some need to be stamped. Some need to be shredded by the machine, and some need to be returned.
sounds like they've dug themselves a hole

>there sould be signs saying hold on to your ticket.
Why would you hold onto your ticket? You have to put it through the machine.

That's not correct. I think that at 13~15 you are still in felony area for men, if you are a woman then at worst you'll just get a misdemeanor.

Sure. A hole from which it's far easier to climb out by putting several linked ticket readers in the otherwise empty space of a turnstile railing, than to completely replace several railways' ticket printers and stock while dropping human readability/cancelability and requiring a fully modernized setup at every ridership: 100 rural platform.

Pedophilia is legal in Japan.

It works though. You don't see them being opened up for maintenance very often and when you do they're usually done in 10 minutes.

Another misinterpretation.

And I thought the Krauts over-engineered everything.

By that definition, pedophilia is even more legal in the US. At least Japan has a national minimum lower than every prefecture's minimum, the US has no national minimum and only state minimums.

You're also missing the various contributing-to-delinquency laws, which basically work out to the same effect as same-age and marriage exceptions in the west.

the one thing I miss most about japan was buying a $20 bottle of black label and getting slammed while wondering around the city. Plus I have a lot of piercings so I was considered by them to be super "badass" american.

found a hostel in kyoto that was like a luxery hotel for just $20 a night. You walk about aside and everything is right fucking there and it was so fucking amazing holy shit my poor stomach has never been so full before.

went to every fucking hentai/sex shop we could find in akihabara, didn't even get told to leave the men's only places cause baka ganjin. there is SO much fucking porn there, and it is all worth spending $$$ on instead of finding stuff online. It's more organized than a fucking library

god everything is amazing about that country, I want to go back. Just looking at that ticket machine picture brings back some great memories. everyone is so fucking polite, to themselves and friendly.

sounds kimoi af

>重ねて
Why would you need to insert several, different tickets at once?

I believe he was talking about there being no law against possessing pornography of minors in Japan.

Well, maybe those cities can change their private metro easier? I know JR with their rural stations are hard.

OP here, I met two maintenances today at different stations. Maybe I should get a lottery ticket.

I was in a busy station and it is not preferred to take photo in public area. I took another photo in another station.

Wait what, I thought taking photos with no faces is allowed in Japan?

not about allowance, it's just annoying seeing foreigners take photos of all this dumb shit and livestreaming themselves doing everything

Fare+upgrade, transfer+fare, possibly transfer+fare+upgrade.

"Allowed" and "preferred" are different. Face blocking is a legal thing, scowling at the asshole foreigner with a selfie stick making 500 people miss their train is a politeness thing.

Hong Kong uses a quite simple solution for this shit, you have to buy all the fare and upgrade you need at the ticket vending machine if you're using tickets, and no transfer discount for ticket users.

Oh god. I'm from Hong Kong and MTR is a fucking wet dream, i wish there was a MTR-like system in the US.

Fucking take me back. I honestly hate daily live in the US because everything is so far apart from each other. Crossing the street takes 30 seconds because the streets are like 2x or 3x the size of an asian street.

I have to pay for gas and shit too. I loved the octopus card system where basically worked as a card for all daily purchases because even restaurants and grocery stores and department stores allow you to use your transportation money to buy other shit.

Another Japanese old technology, those metal badges and buttons are comfy as hell.

Pretty sure that was made a few years back

Japan has some kinda weird systems which I dunno if I could fully explain the reasons for, but in the case of Shinkansen in particular some stations have two sets of gates, local lines and then Shinkansen, so when you buy your Shinkansen ticket you may get two tickets and when you arrive at your destination (say Tokyo) it will eat your seat fare ticket for the Shinkansen and then you can walk onto a local train and get off at the local station with the final ticket.
Because that final ticket is part of your trip fare it gets checked through.

Having to buy fare+upgrade at once is worse for setups like Japan's where long-distance express and local service run on the same lines, and transfers are unavoidable for some long-distance service across multiple operators and because base JR pricing (even though JR is actually multiple separate companies) are by distance band. HK's solution works for HK's size with a single operator, but in Japan it would have been a politically untenable near-doubling of long distance service prices as part and parcel of JR's privatization and splitting.

>people living in countries so backward they are amazed by a mechanical ticket reading machine

>gaijin living in japan here

wow if it isn't the emperor himself, the ultimate authority of the land. oh wait, you're just another loser weeaboo faggot that should probably shut the fuck up and commit suicide.

>not knowing Japanese turnstile is much more complex compare to others.

I do know my man
But there is really no need for this
Here in my country we also have gated rails but we just made all tickets digital. Far cheaper than maintaining such complex mechanics

>Not using mobile suica (NFC)

What are you? An analog die-hard?

>rfid
>analog
Back to school with you

Eh, don't you need to either own a Japanese phone or an iPhone to use mobile Suica?

Also,
>not using icoca

>not using pasmo like the total pleb you are

That's right, to get as japanese as possible use japanese phone and iphone (Go buy cheap at thrift shop)

Dare you tell the emperor to suicide? Away with you.

Passmo is for serfs and tickets are for omega serfs.

Honestly, I haven't seen many, if any, Japanese people using iPhones (or Apple Watch for that matter) to pay at stations.

It's kinda hard to be sure though, most of the time they use cellphone cases that have space for IC cards in them, so they could just have an IC card in the case when they swipe it over the turnstile instead of using the phone's ability.

Not looking hard enough if you've never seen people tapping their phones on a ticket gate nfc thing.

I have seen people tapping their phones, but I covered that.

Remember also that to use Suica with Apple Pay you need to have a credit card, which a lot of Japanese people don't have, while with mobile Suica it can just be put onto their phone bill.

Horry shit, that's like a fucking production line.

sauce pl0x

I hope I can one day get into railway, looks kinda fun.

Took this a couple of years ago.

Oh, max webm size is only 3mb? Well too lazy to remake this since it's 3.13mb, so here.

Let me guess. The law basically says that a 13 year old is allowed to fuck someone up to a certain age, like 15, right? But as soon as the person is above the age limit it becomes illegal (like a 13 and 17 year old). Because thats a similar system to what the Germans/Austrians have.

Actually means to respond to this guy

It's mostly misinterpreted because everywhere in the country has a more regional sex age that is older than the 13 year old national one. So it's not "wrong" to say the age of consent is 13, but it's wrong in the sense that the age is actually older everywhere in the country.

So a 20 year old actually is allowed to fuck a 13 year old?

*assuming theres some place that doesnt have an adjusted age.

Whats the lowest to YOUR knowledge?

No it's like federal law say 13yo are ok but every single state have +15yo laws, it's technically correct but not really.

It pretty much every place in Japan it is a felony for a 20yo man to have sex with a 13yo girl.

It's only a misdemeanor if a 20yo woman has sex with a 13yo boy though.

Yea I specified my question here , my bad. So 15 is the lowest you know of, thats intersting.
