What is the purpose of this key?

What is the purpose of this key?

a thread had to die for this shit?! why?
kys

>QWERT
>ASDFG

at least that's the intended purpose

it allows you to type more rapidly

A shift key for left handed people.

Shift left and Shift right

>Literally a 5 second Google tier thread.

Why does everyone else get this wrong?

Host key for VMs when i have right control doing something else?

space constraints

...

you can't show one of their current models as an example, the entire chassis and screen, hinge, motherboard, battery, fans etc. all need to be repositioned and redesigned to fit the aesthetic they're going for with the touch pad on the right.

to type numbers

>tfw i actually miss my 17" mbp
It was nearly unusable because of the size and the amount of heat it absorbed in direct sunshine, but it was an ok laptop.

>number pad
>of center keyboard

disgusting.

what laptop is that and where can I buy it, I've been wanting this for years.

Is this bait or does everyone actually use left shift?

Right shift is the only shift I use, you filthy cancer tumor

Start another thread to ask about right ctrl.

The real question is why does this key still exist?

So you can remap it to what you prefer

I use that for correcting typos.

keyboard navigation is valid, it's a useful key at those times

>not using the touchpad with your thumb

I've never had a keyboard with that key

>he fell for Apple knows how to design laptops meme

This. Never used it apart from clicking it for fun.

I get that some people don't use it, but why would you remove it?
It is incredibly useful in so many applications, where the right ctrl and right shift is much less useful.
Correcting a typo can be done by pressing left, menu, down and enter.
Compared to ctrl+backspace and retyping or moving the mouse and clicking through it, this is not even a close competition to what is best.

If you use the proper touch-typing positioning, you press it when you need a capital version or symbol of a key on your left hand (for example, !@#$QWERASDFZXCV, etc.)

?:{:}"":>?}

Mate i didn't even know about this stuff, thanks a lot

To open my porn menu.

I'm left-handed and this post doesn't make sense. Please tell me you joking

Gayzer Blade aka gaymer plebtop

ITT: keyboardlets

Was working on a laptop with a fucked up trackpad that could only left click so this key allowed me to not need to plug in a mouse.

What's the purpose of the right alt/ctrl/super/menu/shift keys? What should be placed instead of them? Almost nobody uses those. We need a better keyboard layout for the majority.

Ctrl+Z

That would be terrible to use with left hand. I like my switching so, it's shit.

It's meant to piss off handlets like you
Go buy a 60% keyboard faggot
It'll go well with your 9mm and Mazda Miata

What about this?

another day another right shift key thread, kys faggot

it's bait, the only reason ansifags tend to use left shift because they can't type properly, at least isocucks have an excuse to only use the right shift given the left shift on the iso layout is gimped

left ctrl swap is useless meaning you have to revert it back in the bios and deal with a tiny left shift

So both ANSI and ISO use the right shift but apparently no one uses it at the same time. Tell me more.

I've never used right shift in my life, nor the menu key or right super key.

>So [ANSI] use the right shift
I said the opposite of that, ANSI users should be using both shifts but they often don't because they don't type properly and end up relying on the left shift - ISO users could use both shifts but the left shift is retarded and the rest of the keyboard is designed around this leading to the sole use of the right shift, " is on the 2 key on ISO which only makes sense if you use the right shift

there's a reason ANSI keyboards are popular in Europe and it's not because ANSI makes a good international layout

fuck off
