No sound on high sierra. What do?

Got a new computer and thinking of using this instead of deprecated Kawaii codec pack, got a couple questions though (didn't see them answered in the faq):
Does mpv have anything like icaros to generate thumbnails with a little mpv icon in the corner?
Can I get as good performance as mpc-hc w/ madvr?
This one's more general but mpv is said to be command-line, but it has an onscreen display and seekbar and shit (at least the compiled windows version), how is that not a GUI?

>Does mpv have anything like icaros to generate thumbnails with a little mpv icon in the corner?
No, continue using Icaros.

>Can I get as good performance as mpc-hc w/ madvr?
Yes, out of the box and with no extra software to install. Just setup your config file.

>how is that not a GUI?
It is. The kiddos are confused by anything that doesn't look like a 20+ year old Windows media player, though.

Why Linux is so shit for me... Pic related is mpv on defaults on Linux.

Now on Windows.

huh, always though icaros was tied to mpc-hc, didn't know it was a standalone thing

Another question, in the faq it seems like amd systems have lots of trouble, but most of that is in the linux specific answer. I have ryzen and amd gpu, but windows, should I encounter many issues?

Cant fucking even use SSSR 720p -> 1080p. This cant be right!

FUCK

meh, vlc is better.

I summon hanna ITT. You said RX 560 had shit performance. Maybe the problem is not in the GPU but in Linux/drivers??? I mean look at that shit

can this stream/download youtube videos so i don't have to look at youtube's piss-poor ugly as fuck website?

Is it normal that mpv weights only 8MB for me on Ubuntu?

Yes!

try with proprietary drivers then?

Have you tested the 560 with proprietary or with free driver?

mpv - media player with vagina?

Wait for vo_vulkan! It will probably be better on linux than winshit.

That's the joke

not haasn but i don't think he tests with amd at all

Vulkan vagina! :D

Nah, pretty sure your environment is just broken.

How do i check if its broken? 16.04 Ubuntu, 4.10 kernel i think . All updates installed + latest mesa from PPA. I have nothing else installed.

Also latest mpv build from mc3man PPA (dated august 12).

Hmm, tough one. Are you using any compositor? What DE/WM? Try another distro (e.g. via livecd/liveusb) if possible. It was definitely faster than that for me when I tested it.

Im using Kubuntu. Plasma DE and not sure what compositor, im very new to Linux. Ill try another distro with liveusb!

mpv - mpv plays videos

I dont use Icaros or any other programs. I just have mpv set as default player

who?

>having shit taste in movies

...

where am i meant to insert "profile=opengl-hq" ?

your mpv.conf
Weird you don't even have to install it, I still have it in my system to cover everything.
>Can I get as good performance as mpc-hc w/ madvr?
Yes
>how is that not a GUI?
No menu to set up certain things and everything done via basically text files, bat scripts to "install" it.
>should I encounter many issues?
find out for yourself

My mpv files is pretty barebones, what could I add to it to make it better?

Well... What do you want?

Windows supports mkv, mp4 thumbnails by default (maybe not on almost decade old versions like 7 though). Show us what happens when you throw a webm file in that folder.

I'm not sure, just better quality if it's acheivable. It would also be nice if you guys could post your files, so I can pick what I like.

My config won't fit into a post, the not-so obvious are labeled.

Is the new RAVU update make it works with angle now?

>FSRCNN_24_4_4_ssim.glsl
Using these in mpv currently requires --opengl-fbo-format=rgba32f
Do you even know what you are doing?
>screenshot-template='C:\Users\user\Pictures\Screenshots\%F (%P) %n''
~/Pictures/Screenshots/%F (%P) %n
use / not \
Try it for yourself, I personally never liked ANGLE always buggy, loads up really fast however.

>Using these in mpv currently requires --opengl-fbo-format=rgba32f
FSRCNN_24_4_4_ssim.glsl is commented out for a reason, --opengl-fbo-format=rgba32f was meant to be commented out, I probably just removed it without thinking
>use / not \
Windows uses \

There is no hope for you

>how dare I want to have my screenshots in a different location
>how dare I make a mistake in my config

>how dare I want to have my screenshots in a different location
That wouldn't change your location
>how dare I make a mistake in my config
The problem is you copying everything you see without reading first and than giving it to others and on top of it all you acted as if you were right.

>That wouldn't change your location
Then what's the problem?
>The problem is you copying everything you see without reading first and than giving it to others and on top of it all you acted as if you were right.
Not true at all, while It's true I've taken examples from other configs I've checked the manual every time I've added something

...

Whatever you say user
No wonder people don't like posting their configs here, I guess that's what I get for trying to help

Just tried liveusb the latest Ubuntu and couldnt install mpv. FUCK. Not possible with PPA, not possible with software center either ("deprecated, use mpv SNAP").

I am easily depressed and I could kill myself if it doesn't work. :(
I prefer waiting for a fully working vo_vulkan.

Don't use ubuntu and its retarded snap package architecture!

Why doesn't video-stereo-mode work for 3D movies? I want to watch a 3D movie on a 2D screen, but any value for stereo mode still leaves me with both pictures.

But how do i test mpv?

>ghostbin.com/paste/e2c2b
opengl backend? win or dxinterop? u have both enabled?

Sorry it's 2am, opengl-backend=dxinterop
isn't meant to be there

whats your GPU?

1080
