>Computer turns itself on in the middle of the night
I thought this was a joke but it happened to me last night. >Watching animu in bed >Getting sleepy, decide to go to sleep >Win10 >Downloaded updates while I was watching my 2d waifu >Need to shut down pc but windows wants to "Install updates and shut down" >No >Hold power button for 3 seconds to force computer off >Computer goes off >Give the mouse a wiggle and press a few buttons on kb to make sure it isn't just sleeping >It's off >Go to sleep >Wake up in the middle of the night to the computer on the login screen >Not only did the computer turn itself on, it also installed the updates
>Win10 Yes, you should see a doctor about that. I hear they recommend castration/sterilization as a precautionary measure to stop the spread of your retardation.
John Morris
Thank you for your amazingly productive contribution! The community needs more people like you.

Happened to me too

Change WOL settings on your network card to only wake using "magic packet"
Your network card can store a date to turn back on. Windows 10 just wrote a time for WOL.
You can also just disable WOL.
Charles Ramirez
Yea probably this.
Daniel Wright
why dont gaymen listen
Ian Jenkins
you should get a proper OS.
Jacob Ross
I used to have this problem with windows 7 and 10 for the longest time.
Go to your control panel, device manager, and uncheck your network adapter settings box "Allow this device to wake the computer." That solved it for me, I used to need to unplug the computer to ensure it wouldn't turn on but looks like it was just network activity waking it.

>he uses windows 10 >he doesn't unplug his computer every night baka

>There are anons on Sup Forums who actually install and use windows 10 How that microsoft dick taste?

>your network adapter can wake your computer. This surely can't be secure?
Henry Torres
WoL is probably older than you
Alexander Long
Even if you exposed WoL to the entire internet it's not a real security threat. All it does is wake up your computer, at most it can make you use a bit more power.
Eli Baker
Thankful windows manages systems for dumb niggers like you. You could have woke up to wannacry
John Mitchell
>when you hear spark sounding noises from the desk in your room while you are in bed trying to sleep i would hate to die due to electrical fire.
Dylan Anderson
I use a separate PC for gaming and a laptop for general stuff. The gaming PC has Windows 10 just because that's the best Windows for gaming. My gaming PC wakes up constantly from sleep but I haven't fixed it yet. I'm thinking about installing a very game-friendly Linux distro as dual boot so I could reduce the amount of Windows exposure in my life. Maybe Ubuntu if not SteamOS.
Josiah Roberts
This makes me wonder, which company collects/has more data on you? Microsoft or Google?
Google has things like everything you do on your phone + your browser, including pictures taken and location, but Microsoft has everything you do on your PC (browser stuff included) but also everything non-browser related too.
Benjamin Watson
>more than 2 years after windows 10 release people still cannot configure windows update
Yes, you should be worried about being mentally challenged.
Lucas Howard
Happens to me too, somehow Windows can wake it up to install (((updates))), even from hibernation.

You really decided to go hard and just fuck yourself completely didn't you?

>Go to sleep, shut down PC >PC restarts >Try to shutdown again >PC restarts >Disable wake-on-LAN from Windows and BIOS >Turn off fast startup >Change registry value to always powerdown after shutdown >Try to shutdown >PC still restarts >Have to restore to a week-old restore point >Want to get rid of Winblows but can't because you enjoy playing some vidya
Jeremiah Sullivan
did you check for rtc wake timers?

VM with GPU passthrough, dude.

Happened on me it's a part of windows maintenance I heard, event my parents laptop with windows 10 installed wake up in middle of the night.
Owen Harris
Nope. It was like 4am and after checking the basic shit, I just decided to restore because I wanted to sleep. I keep Windows on a separate SSD, so I didn't lose anything.
It's not even worth setting up at this point. I have a pretty nice Acer Aspire that I put Arch on, so I only use this Windows PC for gayming. I do all of my devshit on laptop.
>I use Linux to endleslly compile kernels because my life is devoid of non-autistic meaning. Windows sucks mega donkey dick, but linux is downright useless for people that aren't autistic basement dwellers like yourself.
