One plus 5 is the best pure hardware for the price.
But you're making sacrifices compared to something like the S8 or Note8

LG V20 probably has the best price to power currently

removable battery
expandable storage
military quality shock protection
high quality dac

this might be my next phone thanks user

really want one but after my g4 got the bootloop problem and hearing that the v20 also has it im not that excited to spend money on it

I had the same problem with my G4 (thankfully they replaced it but I'm scared it's gonna bootloop again before my contract ends in December), but from what I've heard the V20 didn't have the same faulty connectors that caused it in the G4/V10/G5. My friend's V20 is holding out but I haven't done enough research into it

V20 also has some pretty nasty image retention issues with the LCD. With moderate to heavy daily use you'll notice it.

Hopefully this doesn't come across as shilling but could that be avoided by mixing up what icons are being displayed on top throughout the day?

ok maybe hold off for the v30 then its looking pretty aesthetic

me here

I'm probably going to get a V30 when my G4 contract expires in December, unless the Pixel 2 can really wow me between then and now/the Note 8 drops in price/the V30 turns out to have some disastrous flaw

Not from what i've seen. Especially since the biggest issue i've seen with it is with static UI elements you can't change. So on screen buttons, web browser UI, GPS application UI, etc.

Fuck the v30 it's not for powerusers anymore. It's to try to steal s8+ consumers

If this counts for anything, I have a v10 and the burn in shit is pretty much only the icons on the notification bar, almost never the second screen. It's almost a guarantee to occur if I'm using firefox to watch porn for a while. Never notice it that much otherwise

Yeah I'm not huge on the lack of a removable battery on the V30 but I think that's going to be how it is from now on outside of niche phones, and I use my phone too much to put up with some chinkshit personally.

i'm personally a bit pissed about the lack of IR too. but you're right about the battery. probably not a feature on any higher end phone anymore

Out of curiosity what do you use your IR blaster for? I feel like I never use it on my G4 since I don't watch TV

I'd sometimes use mine at bars and shit to lower volume or change channel.

when international companies charge 800 dollars for a piece of glass that breaks when you drop it 3 feet onto carpet and then charges you 150 dollars (w/ insurance) to replace the back glass panel.and then the battery starts dying 2 months later so you give them another 100 dollars to replace that.

I just got an s4 for $25 and I got it running 7.1.2 no problems.

Yeah I have two TV's, sound system, and cable box. Mostly use it for the bedroom TV though because the living room is chromecast and the remote is usually on gf's nightstand

Yeah and I hate the part where they force you at gunpoint to buy it

I'm still using the Note 4. Was going to switch up to Note 7 but then Samsung shit the bed. Now the Note 8 is way too tall, stupid expensive and with no physical home button. As someone who uses the stylus a lot, I feel like I'm out of options. Guess I'll just stick to the 4 until it bricks..

Wut?

The Note8 is 1cm taller and 2mm less wide.

It's just got a massively larger screen because no more bezels.

I've owned my v20 for about 4 months. Idk how long until bootloop becomes any kind of concern but buying it used for $250 unlocked is good enough for anything with everything the v20 can do. My friends who has iPhone and other androids are usually in aww when they see the wide angle lens, which you will use more than you think.I record my lectures and the phone drops like 2% for an hour+ worth of talking. Add the zero lemon 10,000mah battery pack to this phone and you are set for life.(given that bootloop doesn't occur)

Note FE?

Lenovo P2. I have literally never charged my phone.

id buy one for $250

did u use ebay or what?

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Global (aka 4X)

anyone know if only certain note 4's are getting eMMC errors or are all of them dying?

It seems to be happening to a lot of them lately, but i dont think it's JUST note4's. Note4 users simply haven't had very good reasons to upgrade so they've been using their devices more than other eMMC phones.

So probably normal all things considered, they're simply getting old.

Note 4 is literally perfect. The last Note that has a removable battery.

Mehhhh.

Been using my Note8 all day, woke up at 7:45am, it's 1:15am. Hasn't touched a charger since 7:45am.

Currently sitting at 20% battery left with 5.5 hour screen on time.

With battery life like this AND samsung including a free wireless fast charger with preorders, I'm honestly not gonna miss my removable battery.

If my Note4 were still in perfect condition I might not have upgraded, but I had some screen burn in and my Spen was fucking up, so it was time to upgrade anyway, and so far the Note8 has been fucking amazing.

It doesn't feel all that larger, but it looks so much more immersive. The screen is fucking amazing, comparing them to each other directly just makes the Note4 screen look like garbage.

yes or no

USB-pd charges that shit to 70% in like 20 mins. Samshit promises 98% battery capacity after 2 years.

Just fast charge the shit out of it and replace the battery every year for $10. Note 8 is an end game phone pretty much. Bezels can't get any smaller without sacrificing front equipment or have weird cut outs. The only thing that could be improved is stereo speakers

Just had my nexus 6 stolen at electric zoo and picked up a v20 on tuesday.

Really nice phone. Same size screen + second notification screen. Better camera, hifi dac, fingerprint reader, ir blaster, removable 3200mah battery, sd card, radio, and usb c.

No regrets thus far, runs like a champ
