what are some android phones (midrange, preferably) that support 240fps video capture?

I want to switch from my seasoned iPhone 6 but it's a feature i absolutely need (and no, 120fps is not enough)

iPhone 8, incidentally. At least if the rumors are true

I know this is smartphone general, but I can really use some input on a decent Android Tablet seeing as tablets are pretty much just giant phones anyway. That said I currently have a Samsung Tab A 8" tablet. Works great except for its abysmal 1024x768 screen and lack of RAM. Looking for
>at least 1080p screen
>2GB RAM
>From a major brand (Samsung, LG etc)

I'll avoid asus tablets at all costs because they're garbage. Been burnt on them once in the past already. And unless something has changed, Apple (Ipad in this case) still can't into a Sup Forums browser or webM support. So that's out of the question. Price range is up to $300. Anything past that and I could honestly just look at a MS surface with an Intel Atom in it.

I have this tablet and I am quite happy with it: gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_tab_s2_8_0-7439.php

Lenovo P8.
SD625+3GB RAM.

gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_641529.html

Samsung, Huawei and Lenovo are basically the only Android tablet manufacturers worth considering. If your main usage is internet browsing and reading I'd look for something with a 4:3 aspect ratio, for watching video 16:9 is preferrable.

>$350
Other than that it seems like a solid choice. I'll keep it in mind thanks
How is lenovo with updates and security patches on their devices? Never owned anything Lenovo other than used chinkpads. I don't want another case of "lol we don't support that device anymore sorry!" Like Asus did with the Zenpad 8.0 that to this day is stuck on Android 5.0 and randomly freezes into a reboot.

Just go to the electronics store, you ultimate loser

>Samsung, Huawei and Lenovo are basically the only Android tablet manufacturers worth considering.
Care to develop ?

It launched with Marshmallow in 2017. That should tell you enough about the update support it'll get.

No Android tablet (outside Pixel C) gets long term update support though, you'll be lucky if you get one major update and some security patches.

I have and their tablet sections are usually

The Lenovo P8 is look attractive but I can't seem to find it anywhere like Amazon or Newegg other than being sold out and only shipping from China. and I've never heard of gearbest. The Samsung S2 8.0 is looking more tempting.

True. This is bullshit. Why does support drop off a cliff for tablets? They're just larger phones. Fucking stupid. And Google can suck my dick if they think I'm going to pay $600 for a fucking tablet. It's still running Android which means the same limitations and restrictions.

You have easy access to the US models so you can probably flash it with LineageOS on top of that. I am stuck with a European model which of course means no support either on XDA or LineageOS for custom ROMs for that exact model.

Ask in /csg/ too, they know more about tablets epecially chink ones

My Samsung S2 tablet got updated to Nougat 7.0 at least.

My Samsung Tab A 8.0 went from 5.1.1 to 6.0.1 and that's about it. Judging by the specs and price of the S2, it seems hard to beat. Better CPU, twice the RAM, twice the ROM, and twice the screen resolution.

Now granted it's almost twice the price I paid for my Tab A but eh, what can you do?

well the Android tablet market has really stagnated, there's only a few major companies making them anymore. Samsung, Huawei, Lenovo and Asus is basically all that's left, and a bunch of no-name chink companies making budget crap. Like you said yourself, Asus are pretty garbage (unless they've improved recently), so Samsung, Huawei, Lenovo is basically all that you're left with.

There's also Xiaomi making them but

>wifi only

lel

That S2 is pretty old already (launched in 2015), I'd pick something more recent if you want any updates:

If I don't care about LTE on a tablet, can I consider a Xiaomi a good / better alternative ?

Company I work for has been using ASUS Memo 8 pads for a year or so, now moving to the Zenpad 8s. The Memo pads are functional and work fine for 99% of what people would use them for, but something about the screen is rather fragile. Probably 1 out of 10 ends up with only the back light working after a few months.

No such issues with the Zenpads, and they feel much nicer to use, I thiink they stepped their game up a bit but I only have the two tablets to compare.

God damnit. Fuck it! I guess I'm just going to hold onto my Tab A for a while and play the waiting game. I took at look at that list and the only I see is Samsung is re-releasing the Tab A 8.0. an 800p screen instead of 768p, and 2GB RAM instead of 1.5GB RAM. That new S3 Samsung tablet is like $600.

where is a good place to buy a redmi note 3?
also, is there actually a difference between the pro and non-pro versions? I can't seem to figure it out

Just got my note 8. Upgraded from the 4. Are screen protectors worth anything these days? These glass ones seem shitty and the plastic ones I heard peel cause of edges.

What is the common wisdom.

Kimovil.
and get the RMN4, the 3 is too old.

Common wisdom is a halfway decent case (otterbox commuter, Incipio cases, something with rubber inner covered by hard plastic outer shell) and that's about it. Given the choice between glass or plastic screen protectors, always go with tempered glass.

And for an all glass Note 8, you'll want all the protection you can get.

Probably but I haven't used any of their tablets but if their phones are good, I don't see why their tablets wouldn't be.

>times advance
>shit gets worse and somehow more expensive

Sadly this is the norm.

Anyone know what hoops to jump to get my verizon note 4 to work for a non verizon? Want to give it to someone tried last night found the antenna settings or whatever and that got the phone calls working but messages didnt work. I tried the samsung app as well as the verizon message app first without realizing it was verizon. Maybe that samsung app was set for the carrier and I should try another one.

>lesser performance specs
why is the 4 better though?

Just bought a mint G6 with case, screen protector, and all accessories for $360.
Good deal?

Zuk Z2 does 960fps even.

I bought an S8 today.
Thanks for the advice, guys. Works great.

Who else here enjoying the B32 update on the Axon 7??

Good goy, be sure to tell your friends!

What's better than the Moto G5+ for the same price or less?

For slightly less performance (the difference is unnoticeable in regular use), you get much better battery life, better display, better camera, better build quality, longer update support from Xiaomi, and there's an version with 4gb RAM and 64gb storage. Note 4 is cheaper too, Note 3 has been discontinued so the prices have gone up.

Does anyone else use Oneplus chink phones or am I the only asshole who buys their shit?

interesting, thanks. any reason to go for the 4x, or would it be pointless?

Meizu M6 note, Xiaomi redmi note 4(not x), LeEco Le S3, LeEco le max 2, Zuk z2

JUST

Me.

I'm still using a first gen one.

Coworker has Oneplus2 and fucking hates everything about it. I wouldn't ever buy one based off his issues he's had.

Depends on the network bands you need.

The Mediatek versions aren't recommended, if you need B4 or B20 get the Note 4 Global, otherwise Note 4X will do just fine

2 was kind of an abortion, completely abandoned by OP.

Works fine. I dont like iPhones and iim not buying the pixel or LG

Well to be fair, OP2 is by far the worst Oneplus phone. OPO, OP3 and OP3T were all great phones, OP5 has some issues but is still a very decent phone.

Explain how this phone is paid off without payment 24.

Just to remind you that you're in debt forever.

But the balance is zero.

Is this really so difficult to make?

>Thin bezels
>Large screen
>SD slot or 64gb+ storage
>Stock Android or lineage
>3.5mm port
>Snapdragon 835 or Helio X30

Samsung is the closest but I don't want an Exynos phone simply because it doesn't play nice with emulators apparently.

LG V30?

LG G6 but with snapdragen 625

>Samsung
>Stock Android or lineage
Oneplus 5 checks out. Especially for emulators, as it has non-meme resolution.

>thin bezels
That's just a meme, get a OP5, Nokia 8 or XZ Premium

Jelly

No jelly in games. Only in lists.

Bezels plus that iPhone design just kills it for me.

Looks good, let's just hope they don't price it high up like the Samsung's and iPhones.

Why would you not want a phone with a bigger screen but smaller physical dimensions? The s8 is the same size as any 5-5.3 inch phone. It's smaller than a Nokia 8 for fucks sake despite having a 5.8 inch screen.

The effect is pretty subtle, many people don't even notice it.

And even then it's not something you "get used to", it's only noticeable when you're actively looking for it.
>Bezels
As small as non-meme bezels go.
>iPhone design
Imagine hating a thing so much that you pass other things that remind you of it.

What difference does a few millimeters make? The software experience matters much more than the size of the bezels.

I don't hate iPhones, I hate when companies make cheap knock offs of other companies products.

I know there's only finite ways to design a rectangle but come on
>Cameras
>Flash
>Logo
>Microphones
>Button placement
They weren't even trying.

What part of
>Larger screen
>Smaller phone
Do you not get?
Why would you want a bigger phone? It's not comfortable to hold, not comfortable to use with one hand, can be dropped more easily, doesn't look as nice.
You can enjoy your bezels all you want, but I'd rather something with more screen space and is easier to hold.

Why would you actually defend bezels?
The fuck is wrong with you?

uh
how do i know what network bands i need...

I'm saying I'd rather have a good phone with some bezels than a shit bezeless phone. On a list of features that matter to me in a smartphone, small bezels is near the bottom

Check with your network provider? Should be a simple Google search.

There should be small bezel on the bottom so I won't constantly do missclicks.

>that matter to me
>ME
Key point. Your needs and desires do not match up with others needs and desires.

What's a good 8 inch phablet? I found one on ebay for like $100 but I think it might be too chink for me.

Every bezel less phone has that though. A small chin on the bottom and some have a small strip at the top too.

Bezel less is just marketing, it just means greater than 80% screen to body ratio these days.

Why don't you link it so we can tell you if it's shit or not?

My bad...
ebay.com/itm/182732147175

Oneplus 5 has 73% ratio. Top and bottom could be slimmer, I agree, but there absolutely must be a 1mm side bezel - otherwise you'll have to rely on shitty software solutions(that aren't present in pure Android) to avoid accidental touches - that's why S8 is a meme.

It's shit.

Try looking for a used Samsung note perhaps that you could install lineage on instead?

Just because you don't like something doesn't make it a meme. Believe it or not, buy most people appreciate thinner bezels which is why the s8 and s8+ have become so popular. At least one third of the people in my office are using an s8 or S7 edge.

I want that kind of phone with sd 625 or better energy effiencient processor, and +4500mAh battery.

No side bezels is a meme. Most people prefer memes over actual features, if you haven't noticed.

Not true, it's just reviewers siding with Apple for more free junk.

That would be nice too but I need the performance. Recently discovered dolphin on Android exists and it's a great way to kill time on night shift. I definitely miss the battery life of my redmi 3 pro though.

The S8 is legitimately good.
Didnt feel this was about the 6 or 7

If something requires software hacks to be usable it's by any definition a meme.

S8 isn't popular because of the bezels, people buy it because it's the latest Galaxy phone. If it had regular bezels it'd still sell millions.

>Waiting for the Mi Mix 2
>"It's going to be great" they said
>no goddamn headphone jack

FUUCKK
I'm just going to get a Mi Mix. How many other good phones will die before they realize this goes against what people want? The technology is supposed to be justifiably replaced by something better with similar pricing before you remove the functionality, you don't just replace the shit with nothing proper in it's place.

Congratulations, you're wrong

It's popular for both those reasons. Lots of people actually like the thinner bezels and 18:9 ratio since it lets you fit more vertical content on screen. It's also popular because Samsung is pretty good at marketing and apple has been fucking up a lot lately. For most people who can't be bothered looking it up, Samsung = Android and Android = Samsung.

Is there a consensus on Mi A1? Should I recommend it to people?

Thinking about getting the Galaxy J7 Perx for virgin mobile. Anyone have experience with the phone?

Put a case on it. You'd put one on even if it has side bezels so why does it matter?

>since it lets you fit more vertical content on screen.
Doesn't navigation bar annihilate that? My previous phone had navbar but damn I don't miss it, capacitive buttons are just better.

Yes

You can hide it and drag it up when you need it.

But yes, I wish they made bezel less phone with only the bottom chin and capacitive buttons that aren't shit. Or maybe, as autistic as it sounds, maybe a touch bar for controls along the side of the phone that you can configure in the settings? Hold a button on the left side to activate it and then press where you want on the right side for controls like home or menu? Idk, could be dumb but I'd still be interested in trying it out.

Wait wats the difference between redmi note and mi note?

Literal jews on ebay...
