Face it: you’d buy a MacBook Pro if you could afford it.

kek but i already have one

i'd trade mine for an x1 carbon gen 5 desu

no because
So glad I didn't fall for the chinkpad meme and got this instead

If I could afford it, I could buy way better machines.

i have one
returning it monday because rattle noise when i shake it

mine did that, i opened it and tightened one screw now it's gone

2015: yes
today: no

the new one is unusable, I'll probably get a chinkpad or something next when this one wears out

i have no use for one, you can't run any kind of games on it.

so for $500 less i get a more capable machine for my use case.

Another "Apple died with Steve Jobs" idiot appears.

Going to sell mine, iMac+iPad combo

Why open a brand new computer? shouldn't it be working perfectly just after you buy it? f*ck that shit if they sell it so badly assembled. I would ask for my money and go for another brand.

I currently have no need for a laptop.

b-but i put together a nice pc that costs as much as a macbook ;-;

>Steve Jobs died in 2015/2016
What a pathetic retard

>muh gaymen
How's it feel to be a manchild?

I plan to buy one soon, once I get orders, that way I can use it on deployment for movies/anime. I used to have one of the xbox hueg laptops that I took on the ship and it was a pita. I've looked at numerous reviews for the XPS 15 and there seems to be a fair number of QC issues with them and the chinkpad is out of the question becasue i want a dedicated gfx card. The only other laptop I'm considering is maybe the ROG Zephyrus.

I have a macbook and I have games on it
what is dual boot

Macs can't game is a meme, they don't have good horsepower for the price range but that doesn't mean they don't game at all

work all day and play some games, who gives a fuck if it's childish. it's a non self destructive social activity.

there's literally nothing else i can do on a macbook that i can't on a much cheaper windows laptop.

>Face it: you’d buy a MacBook Pro if you could afford it.

I can afford it, I'm just not interested in a product with such a low price:value ratio

why dual boot when i have no use for mac os in the first place. i'm paying massive amounts extra for the same hardware, less customization, and an operating system i won't use.

I can afford one, but I do not want one.
Convince me with valid reasons why I should even try your OS.
>It feels better/right, it just werks™ or anything subjective is not considered valid

It's a commercially-supported UNIX that doesn't use systemd and has a cohesive UI design while supporting a ton of commercial software, as well as pretty much all useful UNIX software (including GNU software) thanks to macports.

the only valid reason most people can actually give is it meshes well with all of their other apple products.

It's everything Linux tries to be minus the free software meme movement

Sup, iPajeet

muh games
Also the piece of shit is slower than my gaming pc for rendering videos on premiere pro

Thats actually a decent argument. However, I already use a Unix like system so switching to a different one brings no real benefit. SystemD can be removed as well. I don't really use Photoshop or other media editing software, but if I did I could definitely see the appeal. Can I install the OS into a vm?
user above you has a decent argument but most of the time you're right
>Using meme in your post
Opinion discarded

>A laptop is slower than a purpose built desktop

Gee no shit

>thermal throttled laptop is slower than desktop
No way

Looks like Sierra works on VMware. Of course, if your current OS works for you I won't try to convince you, I was simply explaining why I use it (I use some commercial software for school and for video editing so it was either Windows or Mac, plus I wanted to try Apple's production software, especially Logic). The best OS is the one that works best for you.

Still rocking my 2014 rMBP. It's nice but the battery is aged. Gets about 3 hours using Chrome.

>Use the os that works for you
Agreed. I'll give Sierra a try. It won't likely convince me to actually buy an Apple product, but maybe it'll give me a little more appreciation for their software

chrome is a battery sucker

You can probably take it to an Apple Store and get it replaced for a fee. Don't know how much they charge these days though, if your comfortable opening it up you could replace it yourself.

Just so you know, it's really designed with mainstream users (aka dribbling retards) in mind. There's a great system underneath (it ships with bash as the default shell but also sh, zsh, and a couple others) but you really have to install Xcode and macports, and then a few essential packages like coreutils, to make it "complete". Once it's done though you'll feel right at home.

>apple didn't die when steve jobs died
nice try

I would honestly. Everyone who shits on macbooks who have never owned one all secretly would like to try one. I just like the idea of a completely cohesive OS that more often than not just werks and communicates with other apple devices seamlessly. Having everything just work together is a pretty compelling incentive to buy one especially if you have an iPhone. Also fucking UNIVERSAL COPY AND PASTE

MBPs have incredible price retention for a computer
Look at the second hand prices, really high compared to anything else from that era

bought the "late 15" meme edition
have my chinkster t420 as well
the macbook pro is better in virtually every way regardless of the thinkpad's OS of choice

It's almost as if one was made by people who care about creating a great product
and the other was made by soulless corporate cocksuckers

I'd rather get the Dell XPS 15

I can and i dont also wont

It's quite comfy desu

I wouldn't.
There is no customization, absolutely nothing of interest that I can use on it, a shitty library of games, absolutely no mod-ability, and zero intelligence has to be used in order to master it.
It's literally a perfect example of the "easy to learn, easy to master" model, because it's built for a five year old.
There's absolutely nothing interesting about it, nor is there anything original in it either.
Just average-grade specifications in a sleek body built by hipster nu-males.
"LETS ADD A TOUCH BAR FOR EMOJIS XD".

>games
stopped reading there. it's a grown-ups computer, sweetie.

Which screen has the hentai

>hehe video games are for manchildren.
An hero now, pls.
Facebook-posting on a 3000$ laptop with low-grade specs is nearly as useless as buying a 7k realdoll for a quick wank.

>muh gaymes

I've actually owned a MacBook Air in 2013 and later upgraded to a 13'' MacBook Pro in 2015. There is no real reason anymore to own a MacBook at all unless, you're depended on OSX only software or just really enjoy OSX in general. I used to defend apple laptops because of their exceptional battery life back in the day, but right now even the shittiest ~$500 laptop or chromebooks can reach similar battery life. Higher end laptops are pretty much on par or even better.

The touchbar is an absolute gimmick and I don't like where MacBooks are going at all. I hope apple decides to use 120hz display in their next iteration to stand up from the crowd again.

who /dual boot/ here

Hows it running? What settings?

Wouldn't a 120hz display eat up batteries?

Already have a fully loaded 2017 one right here. Loving every minute.

>winblows
Na thx I'll pass

Not that much since apple uses adaptive refresh rates on their new iPads. You only use 120hz when it's necessary and it drops to something like 24fps on pictures.

This, everybody should suck cocks like us.

So that's why mine was laggy...

brb, returning my iPad pro

>only children can enjoy games
there's literally nothing you can do with your status symbol that no one else can do with a cheaper windows machine. it's preference plain and simple.

there's nothing wrong with an adult playing games, it's probably akin to your gigs of daily cuck porn.

This guy gets it.

CuckBook Fanboy Logic:
>TEEHEE GAMES ARE GHAAAY BECAUSE THEY WON'T GIVE ANY REAL SKILLS.
>BUT SUCKING OFF TIM COOK FOR DETAILS ON THE NEWEST FUCKPHONE 69 ABCDEFG IS CRUCIAL TO MY ACCOMPLISHMENT AS A HUMAN BEING.

I'd buy one if I had excess money, only to fuck a bit around because my primary productive applications are wangblows-only.

Why spend over 2X the money and get worse specs than ?

I can afford to go get one right now, but I haven't used a mac since 2007

I have a 2011 13 inch model that I upgraded to 10GB of RAM and a 275GB SATA3 SSD and it still runs like shit. Mac OS X is mediocre and has no programs. Who the fuck even develops for this platform anymore? It's a ghost town if you want anything other than text editors and web browsers. I get better battery life under Fedora on it too because Applel can't into software optimization. It also sounds like a dozen helicopters taking off to deliver troops to the rice patties if I open more than 3 programs at once. I get better performance (aside from battery) on a Librebooted ThinkPad T400 running Fedora 25. I also prefer the functionality of the built in package manager and other Unix utilities which are lacking or outdated on OS X. It's definitely not as good as advertised and the app drawer thing is fucking retarded. I hate it so much. It looks so bad on a 20 inch external display. I'm dual booting Sierra and High Sierra beta which seems like a nice improvement but I'm sure Apple will find a way to disappoint. I won't be using another OS X machine again unless it's a retro PPC one or a hackintosh because the hardware is so bad. Apple really needs to get a grip on cooling systems so that I can't make scrambled eggs on the bottom of my laptop.

>he thinks $3000 is a lot
Just because I have money doesn't mean I need to be fiscally irresponsible. Apple products are as low-tier of a status symbol as it gets

>implying I use any of that Facebook tier software
Kek

Sure thing, Mr. Poor.

I'd rather kill myself

No I wouldn't, Solidworks is a windows only software.

>hurr just dual boot it

Would you waste money buying an high-end sports car, just to raise the suspension and slap dirt tyres on it to offroad it?

If I had a million bucks, I would still rather get a $200 laptop than anything Apple

...

>he thinks being able to afford a MacBook makes him not poor
Cool that you were able to save a couple thousand from your Starbucks barista wages to blow on overpriced toys but that doesn't make you rich, sweetie
