German influence is because English is of the German language family; any other (including Latin) is from marrying into the family.
English originated with the Anglo-Saxons, all of whom spoke a West-Germanic language. When they moved to England, the native peoples were by and large still speaking Latin from the times of the Roman conquest, so that's where that influence came from. There's also some Greek influence, also from Latin, and barely any Gaelic/Celtic influence at all.
English has about a 60% lexical similarity to German, 30% to French, and the other 10% is mostly Greek and other languages.

What is this meant to show/prove? That there are a bunch of words of Latin origin? If you look at you'll see admitted that English shares a 30% lexical similarity with Latin.
