With the exception of Java (fuck Java), What programming languages are worth learning in 2017?

With the exception of Java (fuck Java), What programming languages are worth learning in 2017?

JavaScript

C# and C++

Always C++

Python and JavaScript.
Java and C# for ENTERPRISE.

Just learn something general-purpose and widely used (C# or, yes, Java are both good choices) and make sure you can learn/adapt to others quickly. This is the key to employability.

Mathematica
PowerShell
Perl

C, C#, Python

Is perl a good language to learn?
Perl handles regex much nicer than python

Python
C
Haskell (to make you write better python)

OP is a faggot.

JavaScript, C#, Python

Crystal

IOS Swift is a really nicely designed language and iOS programming is Pajeet proof. Consulting rates are still nice and high - I get $150/hr or $1500/day depending on the contract.

C++
C#
Python
(Java)

Javascript is invading everything even embedded

C, C++, python, rust, go, Scala

In 2017, it's time to learn some modern languages. Forget about the old, obsolete, deprecated languages like C, C++, Python, etc. Sure they may still be in use in places, but only because ancient systems were written in them when that's all there was. For new projects, people are moving on to better, newer languages, and even some old ones are being rewritten to bring them up to the current standard.

In my opinion, the core essentials nowadays are:
1. C# for a beautiful high-level language that runs on a VM. This replaces shit like Java.
2. Go for simple concurrency and networking. This replaces shit like Python.
3. Rust for a safe, sensible, and relatively simple low-level language for systems programming. This replaces shit like C and C++.

Or you can use libgdx and program for multiple systems

Want to go embedded? C and some brand of assembly language.
Want to work at a startup and make a killing in a few years? Elixir/Phoenix.
Want to work for a bank? COBOL, APL, q.
Want to emigrate to India? C#, Java.
Want to work as an app developer? Swift, Java.
Are you an SJW? Rust, Ruby.

Perl6

Java is pretty good. Have you considered Java with the Oracle JDK?

Is good, great actually, but not for big systems. Use it and embrace the quality testing philosophy.

Java is possibly the only language worse than C++, it's because you can actually limit your features in C++ and write decent code. Java is pure shit.

Python is one of the most used languages though. Between financing, Maya, data science, machine learning etc. C# is for retards that can't manage memory and isn't better than Java because it's not as Portable. It's for people who are too dumb to learn c++ and also enjoys sucking off bill gates

> muh modern tech

Java,go

Javascript and Typescript.
It's unavoidable.

Java and C# are pajeet tier.

DUDE RUST LMAO

Python may be heavily used, but that doesn't mean it's not a terrible language. It is. Newer ones are better designed, and sooner or later people will catch on to that.

>fuck java
>t. worthless NEET

Why is no one recommends Kotlin?

ML

go

Java is for the big boys
maybe when you lose your virginity you'll understand why MEN like JAVA

We're hiring for AR/VR jobs at work and we're asking for C#, C/C++, Javascript, and maybe Python. Experience with Rust or Scala is also preferred.

C/C++ and Javascript master race here.

Julia

Kotlin

>C# for a beautiful high-level language

Lisp and Haskell (but not for getting employed)

learn only Go and Rust and you will never leave your mother's basement

>2017 and not making your own language
kys or make a language or at least make your own parser to program in what ever language using the same syntax

Observed.

C, Python, Haskell

>muh """enterprise""" language
What a dumb fucking meme. Windows development is hell, and C# is just Java with an added layer of pajeet.

This

this
But C# overall better than Java and you won't want to kill yourself for every function you write.

>implying you have to learn JavaScript

C#
TypeScript

they are almost identical

Haskell, Elm, JavaScript, C++

Java

this is the complete truth, but i'd also add lisp for fun
