I use 4.19.0.4867 portable.

SHIEEEET

Maximum kek, windows shill on suicide watch lmao

What is this CCleaner? I always thought it was spam, why do so many people use it?

it c-cleans

It claims to clean up dead registry entries and other such placebos.

I was using the affected version, 32-bit... But the portable exe. I don't seem to be affected since I don't have the registry key the program writes.

Still updated to 5.34 and will start to use 64-bit version from now on.

you mean c-c-cleans

and how to bloat like this reach such a big userbase? Seems to complicated for normies and too stupid for actual tech literate people to use.
Gaymers maybe?

People using an OS where you need 3rd party malware to keep your system clean

lel

It's for redditors who think they're tech-savvy.

Kek I have the 5.32 version.

>using an OS so shitty it needs malware to "clean" all the crap it collects.

People actually do this?

Why the hate, the software is great.. It cleans temp files mostly (also from software that normally don't offer such options). The registery clean option if only for finding unused entries, so it does not even fuck up the registery like most tools. But most basic users just click the clean button for cleaning temp, cache and recycle bin files..

why would anybody on a tech board care? It is trash software for a trash os

windows natively ships with a tool that can do that.

64bit master race.

>It cleans temp files mostly
Windows does this already.
>The registery clean option if only for finding unused entries, so it does not even fuck up the registery like most tools
It's pointless.
>But most basic users just click the clean button for cleaning temp, cache and recycle bin files
Windows already does this.

I know, CCleaner has a bit more options, and actually does what it promises. Also non tag chavvy people dig the Big So Much Has Been Cleaned message..

Not arguing about the os part

>32 bit machines
>in 2017
Like, literally who.

I know right? Was worried for a second.

CCleaner hasnt been relevant since Windows XP. All of the functions worth doing are built in to Windows as of Vista. The rest is just placebo or degrades the OS.

What's next, a bunch of SlimWare fans are going to come try to take users?
Is Torch going to start gaining traction?

Give me a break.

>they still haven't discovered the botnet hidden in 64bit versions

>comes as extra bloat with Speccy
>Speccy threads on Sup Forums

What was meant by this?

people that use virus scanners are already at risk for malware because they were dumb enough to get it

ayy

>doesn't use bleachbit

>read this
>think im infected because i use the same version
>notice 64-bit isnt affected
>giant sigh of relief
dawg

What does the malware do?

According to Avast, the malware attempts to transmit information like computer names, IP addresses, installed software, active running software, network adapter information and more, to a server located in the United States.

>CIA backdoor exploit

You still are infected user,

Check for HKLM/Software/Piriform/Agomo Registry Key

Trojan Nyetya

If you have this you are fucked and got CIA'd

>unironically using ccleaner

Is v5.30.6065 infected?

Excuse me for a moment...

No its specifically 5.33 32-bit version and the cloud ediiton.

>avast acquires piriform on july 19th
>following ccleaner update contains malware
makes sense

>get nervous
>read it only affects 32bit
>read instructions on how to check
>check
>mfw don't have it
>mfw 64 bit master race

If you have v5.32 or lower don't ever update CCleaner again.

Oh thank you. I probably won't update anyway.

Use slimcleaner

you can't be master race when you unironically use cc-cleaner

Topkek

>Not using bleachbit
Don't know why this isn't in the wiki

update the damn wiki

Nice tech crunch advertisement

Reason I mentioned it is because v5.32 was the last good version before Avast bought Piriform (the company that made CCleaner)
Avast is a shit company that can't be trusted

Umm no sweetie. How do you clean your registry without something like CCleaner?

my laziness (and never ticking auto-updates on any software) saving me from the cia backdoor.

who says laziness doesn't pay?

avast literally owns piriform and ccleaner

>tfw didn't update since june, 5.32
im converting to disk cleanup

why would you want to clean your registry? Don't install bloatware, or don't use windows. Cleaning the registry probably doesn't even change anything for the speed of the computer

How do you find duplicate files then retard?

You should try it some time, you might like it

I do it because it gets rid of all the old unused and obsolete file extension associations from uninstalled programs

>piriform also developed speccy
>currently on version 1.29
definitely not updating it

>when you unironically use cc-cleaner
What's the logic behind this statement? Can someone use software ironically? Smh.

I ironically dual boot into Windows and me and all my friends have a nice laugh about how bad the OS is.
I sometimes write some degenerate shit in some text files to traumatize the Microsoft Employee who goes through my data

I recommend to download the latest versions of Recuva, Defraggler and Speccy, as they are all before the Avast buy.

CCleaner, get either the 5.34 or even better, the 5.32.

I recommend to not download any software from known incompetent and potentially malicious developers.

>Not using Advanced System Care master race

this is autism. those old files don't use up enough space and they don't slow your PC down. You have OCD faggot.

>Used CCleaner for several years
>few months ago notice a recent update started pushing adware
>Anti-virus sounding sirens left and right
>Uninstalled that shit ASAP
>This happens
>Can't be affected
Feels good

>Using 64-bit version
>Wasn't affected
Feels good

from the other thread before it died

You can do this yourself sweetie also cleaning reg is fucking pointless

It only affects v5.33 x86. At least I don't have it.

>"HURR DURR A PROGRAM REPRESENTS AN OS!!!"

There are tablets that still use 32-bit Windows because of RAM limitations.

1) It only applies to the 32-bit version only
2) The malware isn't fully cleaned if you install a new version. You need to actually check and delete the key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Piriform\Agomo

I thought Piriform was good

Fuck

>Been using version 5.25.5902
>Disabled updates because couldn't be arsed into doing that every time
>Has superior anti-malware installed
>MFW I didn't get the malware

they were bought by Avast. Go figure.

>friends
Yeah, I doubt that

5.17.5590 here update fags btfo

>Install this crap to see what I'm missing
>Run a scan
>Only delete 10mb worth of trash
So this software is trash then

well shit, I'm fugged.

what should I do? delete system32?

read the thread dummy

Literally installed CCleaner last week and not sure which version is it. For some reason I installed the pro version by accident and installed free 5.34 a few days later. I have a 64-bit windows 10 so I should be fine, right?

Eset nod got rid of it instantly

Bleachbit doesn't have this problem.

5.27 here. Feelsunaffectedman

>use an unnecessary program because a pcmasterrace redditor told you to
>get btfo
god is good
god is great
god punishes retards

Bleachbit is the only "delete fucking everything" program approved by the Clintons, too.

but it's actually good software

i don't like ur maymay, go back to 2011

Why is this news? Windows itself is malware and spyware.

>using CCleaner
ISHYGDDT

people have already forgotten that windows let ransomware get in the same way not too long ago. Why are people so dumb and have short memory spans

>using any 'registry cleaner' placebo shit
Why?

dslreports.com/forum/r29791914-
Guys?

well i ran mbam on my HDD with 64-bit Windows 7 with 64-bit ccleaner installed and it found nothing. I do have automatic check for updates enables, however I only see it tell me one's available when I open the program once in a blue moon, before I follow running it with a defrag. not sure if i should still be worried but idk

if its not there then im good right? reinstalling is a bitch and if the payload was delivered all my current images/games/music/videos/etc wouldnt be able to be backed up?

Why hasn't Microsoft abandoned the Registry yet? Has it ever caused anything but trouble?

64 bit but still glad my laziness has prevented me to update it in a long time

If you didn't fine the Trojan Nyetya and Agomo registry keys there are 3 of them, then you should be fine but don't ever use Piriform again in the future.

legacy software
multi-billion dollar companies need to be able to run programs written in the late 80's on current machines because they're too cheap to have a new program made
or, they go with the philosophy of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

what tool?

lmaoing at ccleaner
t, common sense x64bit 2019 user

>he paid for the 2019 version
it's a botnet
2010 is the last version without that social media crap

JUS USE COMMON SENSE XDD

Why not only use the registry for legacy programs then?

I reckon microsoft would claim it would bloat windows up
