So I'm in college learning to be a system administrator and we're doing C# and SQL. Can anyone tell me why C# is useless?

I wanna have a sexual intercourse with a woman

It is not?

>Can anyone tell me why C# is useless?
That would be difficult, I have never heard anyone holding that view and I have never heard any reasons that might support such a view.

Good idea, go out and do it.

>go out and do it.
Do you know where we are, you fuckin newfag?

C# is fine.

It's not. They'll probably have you write a powershell cmdlet or something

>>>/wizardchan/

>Can anyone tell me why C# is useless?
because you can't kill yourself with it, no go and find something more useful

>It is not?

Well I read on a few threads before that C# is really bad compared to C or C++, which I could see why since those are more popular languages essentially.

>>Can anyone tell me why C# is useless?
>That would be difficult, I have never heard anyone holding that view and I have never heard any reasons that might support such a view.

Well then let me put it this way; why C# for networking when there is C or C++? Why would they teach this opposed to other languages?

Fug, so do I. Any sauce on that?

C# is great if you want to work in corporations for the rest of your life.

Sup Forums is a wizardchan.

It isn't useless, but as a sysadmin you should learn Python, Perl and Shell instead.

> (OP)
>C# is great if you want to work in corporations for the rest of your life.

You say it like it's a bad thing so could you elaborate on that?

>Any sauce on that?

Meant for

By corporations he meant big corporation where you are just a small gear in a big machine and your colleagues aren't necessarily the most motivated.

C/C++ are only good for lower level systems programming or things where you need explicit control over the hardware and memory.
Stuff like operating systems, drivers, games, etc.

For working with networking/databases you can do it in C/C++ but you're going to be wasting a lot of time reinventing the wheel and writing boilerplate that you could have otherwise avoided by using a language like C#. Languages just have different niches, there is no objective "best" language across the board, languages are just better for different situations, I'd say C# is better for networking and working with databases by a mile over C/C++

Is the book pulled out of her pussy?

What do you guys think her feet tastes like, haha?

That's hot.

>Can anyone tell me why C# is useless?

Well, C and C++ (if you must) exists.

I was just about to write the same thing as ( ). I've got hired in my 2nd year of college by a big ass blue-logo corp and I've only been a gear since then. C# is a decent language, .NET is a massive ecosystem, but I'll never be used to being a tool.
Sorry for the small rant, focus more on the engineering part and less on the coding part.

>why C# for networking when there is C or C++? Why would they teach this opposed to other languages?

Because .NET does all the heavy lifting regarding networking and that sort of low level stuff so you don't get bogged down in details.

Also C# is much more useful to know than C or C++ when you are applying for jobs.

As a 39 year old system administrator I can tell you right now you are going into the wrong field.

You just say that because you fear to be replaced in a few years by someone cheaper (younger).

not OP, but I feel pretty much the same about programming. May I ask you if you're pleased with what you're doing at work?

For a sysadmin python/perl/whatever shellscript is more useful. C# only good if he wants to be a point and click nigger with windows server who occasionally use powershell. For that, college is hilariously useless, so OP just fucked up if he won't go for an expensive ms cert.

>Can anyone tell me why C# is useless?
it only works on windows and is run by microsoft

just get a girl, get her to beg for your dick and then ram it in her cooch

>replaced in a few years by someone cheaper (younger).
>t. user who never heard about senior sysadmin positions
>t. user who never heard about .net core

Creep.

Lol, except in a few niche areas, in a few years, the field WON'T EXIST

>
>>replaced in a few years by someone cheaper (younger).
>t. user who never heard about .net core
still made by microsoft and doesn't work correctly on all platforms

> system administrator
>we're doing C# and SQL
Eh. If you're going to fiddle with Windows systems, it's alright. Personally I can't stand it: no support whatsoever, only helpful posts are from Indians, "we are teh best" narrative from MS even though they're often lagging behind.

>still made by microsoft and doesn't work correctly on all platforms

>still made by microsoft

Why would you want anyone BUT the company/group who designed, developed and maintains the language to create a cross platform framework?

If you just don't want to taint your GNU/Linux Libreboot Thinkpad with non open source code, just use Mono.

>Vendor locking your entire career

Holy fuck, this is a new level of cuckery.

>As a 39 year old system administrator I can tell you right now you are going into the wrong field.

OP here, why'd you say that?

No programming language is useless so long as you can develop software with it.

Now, having said that,
>muh enterprise language
What a dumb fucking meme lol. Most of the use cases for C#, C++ would be a better choice.

the first thing you should say is what her name is

> (OP)
>>Vendor locking your entire career
>Holy fuck, this is a new level of cuckery.

Well it is a free college and I'm poor so...

> (You)
>the first thing you should say is what her name is

Donno I saved her from Sup Forums a long time ago.

As long as your not a braindead retard once you understand the logical side of programming, learning different languages is simple.

C# and Java have extremely similar syntax and C and C++ share a lot of similar aspects. Python is basically sudocode and is taught to kids for a reason.

I second this, as a 40 year old sys admin I say go do something else. Honestly it;s no fun. You spend a lot of time sitting in very boring meetings you don't need to be in, listening to idiots. You end up working nights and weekends being on call. You get no respect or acknowledgement just shit when something breaks. Oh and the finger always gets pointed at your servers whenever theres a problem.
So you get no respect, hassled all the time, work a lot of hours and don't really feel like you accomplish anything. The pays ok though.

Go do something else

Damn, you're 40 years old and still browsing a board that's been taken over by > 18 Sup Forumstards? How about you go do something else lol

I wanna suck her toes.

He's sysadmin. He's infinite time while work inbetween fapping to animu.

>go out and do it
But soliciting prostitution is illegal and carries an inherent risk.

lobby your local politicians to make it legal then get a vasectomy and all STDs injected into your blood stream. That will mitigate the risks from prostitution because you can't make them pregnant and they can't infect you with an STD if you already have it.

I mean the risk of arrest. I'm not worried about std's because I would never fuck a girl of any kind without a condom.

>I would never fuck a girl of any kind without a condom.

>tfw i unironically want to be a point and click nigger with windows server and occasionally use powershell
Just fuck my shit up famalam

I don't get it. Why is she naked?

clout

He looks like a feminine dude sitting like that.

She probably is a "model". Or they are joking in the set of a porn video.

>can anyone tell me why a language made by jews for punjabs is useless
Do you really need an explanation?

I want to sex her.

>her

>I'd say C# is better for networking and working with databases by a mile over C/C++
LINQ is a god send. Microsoft got a great idea and holy shit did they hit the mark.

I refuse to code against databases with out LINQ now.

>Can anyone tell me why C# is useless?
False premise.

C# is a pretty great language for most things. Obviously, you wouldn't use it for real-time physics implementations, but it's overall extremely easy to use and has tons of support.

C# is FOSS and cross-platform. What are you talking about?

god i hate feet

What if I dont care about respect and just want a easy high paying job with lots of free time so I can watch anime and shotpost on Sup Forums while I work?

>What I read in a thread.

Do you realize how mindless it is to base your opinion of a language solely on the opinions of people on this board? Especially considering we're talking about one of the most popular languages out there today.

Maybe you shouldn't become a sys admin, it doesn't seem you are cut out for it.

It's not useless, it's just more fit for certain purposes.

Who the fuck told you that?

Faggot.

C# is useless because you're digging your own grave. The future is java and javascript. Everything else will soon become obsolete. Nothing else is needed.

>deleted my porn stash today
>see this thread
fuuuuuck

sauce?

(you)
Retard.

konachan.com/post/show/225775

>that Boutonniere deformity of the finger
t-thanks anyway

Who is that?

Gross, she's all naked and stuff

>Can anyone tell me why C# is useless?
a java clone with some c++ is not useless but C# documentation and tools are shit

>C# is FOSS and cross-platform
No it isn't.

What the hell am I looking at?

>high fidelity
dont have intercourse with that woman

>In the beginning there was C and it was good.
>On day 2 they created C++ and it got shit done.
>On day 8 the animals had trouble grasping the languages of the gods, so they made java.
>On day 9 Microsoft and Apple didnt want to loose employees to each other so they created the spinoff copycat languages that are known as c# and swift

you mean c# and obj-c you pleb

Swift replaced obj-c.

Yes but it doesn't really fit the analogy, and as per your (or his) original anecdote, obj-c was the spinoff copycat language

swift is a different thing, not very similar to obj-c

its in the c family so its a spinoff in one way or another.

reee...

Is it bad to only know C#/Java? I feel like not knowing about memory management is gonna bite me in the ass someday

Hi pajeet

I was as sys admin for 5 years. I spent every day working on the low level aspects of getting machine A to communicate with machine B, patching OS systems (mostly Linux) and doing basic admin tasks. I carried a beeper that went off all the time. I had to drive in at 3am many times, because the system is locked down from the outside.
Then I saw the entry level programmers making about a lot more than me, and they had easy, 9 to 5 jobs. Nobody is beeping them.
So I went back to school, took a huge hit to my income and savings, and got a masters degree in CS.
I now make 100K a year in a part of the country where that is considered big bucks. Yes, I could make more if I went to San Francisco or Seattle or Boston on NYC, but by the time you factor in all the costs, I might be making less. Because it isn't what you make, it's what you keep.

Bottom line: Programming always pays more that sys admin. Sys admins work harder, but our culture has decided that programmers are more valuable.

Where do you want to be in five years? Think about it.

I thought programming was 'dead'.

AI is coming for all your jobs. Is this inaccurate?

>Sys admins work harder
Bad sys admins maybe.

My buddy works at a small company on a five man team, just doing C# all day.

become a pharmacist

>Can someone affirm my preconceived notions?
Of course! That's what we're here for after all.
:^)
