Fault tolerance for what task?

It is still transparent as fuck. Being anonymous doesn't reduce transparency.

Logistics and inventory tracking. There is a reason walmart and ebay are interested in blockchain.

you're mixing up bitcoin and blockchain.

One is a piece of theory, a concept, and one is a specific implementation of that theory.

the blockchain is a permanent and unhackable ledger of all transactions that have happened on the blockchain

everyone on the blockchain owns a complete record of the entire blockchain with every transaction that has ever happened on the blockchain

banks already use databases which are constantly changing with no record of changes except for backup snapshots and they get ripped off for billions by hackers every year

This will trigger the cryptofag.

I know the difference, I was just pointing out that the most widespread application of a blockchain does not guarantee the effects of transparency, and therefore blockchains do not entail transparency.
Anonimity DOES reduce transparency.
