Windows = Shit

Just try this at Windows.

Open the file explorer

Create a folder called "AUX"

It can't

kek, what a piece of shit. Linux file explorers don't fail like this.

Try creating a folder called '/' on linux. You can't. Literally BTFO.

what a very unique and contrarian opinion you have brought to us ITT

ye

why would you ever need a folder called aux

Age old screenshot

>auxilary

yes, what purpose would a folder called that serve

IT
JUST
WERKS

>an auxilary library for your development project

finally, it took only.. how many years? Windows had this since XP

thanks OP now my system32 folder is gone

APOLOGIZE

Why would I want to?

Delet this

This can't be happening.

i'm sorry you suffer from homosexuality.

Meant for

S-Sorry

ye...if you use KDE, or if you find a patched gtk3. It's still an issue, and in Windows you can make the previews really large. You're limited to 128x128 on KDE.

true, this ought to be selectively enabled for the long-mode version (which doesn't have VDM anyway), and perhaps suppressed in WOW64

Its had it too, GNOME (Redhat DE) took it out from Firefox when they release Redhat DE 3

Linux has had it longer

why would using KDE be considered "an issue"?

DELET

AUX is not the only one
CON, PRN, CLOCK$, NUL...
I bet many people got rekt whit that PRN one
top kek

>see > /dev/null on UNIX
>need similar functionality
>add NUL as a special case in the fs driver
>40 years later, people still can't use "NUL" as a filename

And remember back when /con/con would bluescreen any Windows 98 system?

I'm saying it's still a linux issue because only KDE gets it right. So if you don't use KDE, good luck.

merde d'artiste

Windows is used by actual adults, whose applications may need to functions for decades. Hence Windows has some quirks to keep backwards compatibility.

It's used by gaymer manchild and computer illiterates around the world

...

lovely software, winders is

md \\?\C:\AUX

Now go fuck yourself.

The absolute state of windws

I remember 98 SE. Sadly.

That looks like a retarded command

>delete folder
>deletes entire filesystem

Thanks apple.

>The current state of Wandows

>Mister OS, can you spin up both of your hard drives at once and tell me your name?
>awful HDD clicking noises
>"hWANDows nnnr"

CON, PRN, AUX, CLOCK$, NUL, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9,
LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, LPT9

are all folder names that dont work in windows.

distro?

Manjaro, with adapta theme

Are you serious?

Not really into linux yet, looking for some options atm to switch.

thank you based user

That's a dead GPU

lol wow windows is shit, why don't they just stop you from making the folder instead of having it glitch and keep the nametag around. wtf
thankfully I'm moving back to arch. Don't judge me on ads, I run ublock usually but the shit google captcha made me turn it off temporarily

I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux!

It actually has the name ':' in the filesystem.
