watch 'thewebsiteisdown' videos
basically the story of IT support

>Be first year tech, internal IT position
>Ring a ling ding, get call
>Remote user says power went out but it's back on but no drives, no server
>User strives to be an observer
>Tell retard to push power button obviously
>User says they pushed all the buttons on the front
>What.jpg
>Log into ipmi, RAID failure alerts
>mfw user powered on server and ejected all drives

fuck off piece of shit leddit poster

lmao

I've never even been to reddit you projecting faggot

>internship at local company
>You are good user, we have a position for you, call us when the uni starts, so we can talk about your schedule
>uni starts
>schedule is good, can work 20h/week
>call them
>hey user, yeah the job is still good, come
>ask about salary
>oh, we won't pay you, you will work as an outside intern(wtf?), it's great work experience
>lol fuck you

you just gotta get that work experience bro
b urself

I thought this was only a problem in 3rd world countries

it's because of the whole "money's not important, follow your dreams" culture
pleb motherfuckers act like the dont care about money, work for free and ruin it for everyone else

That's not the point, or an argument.
Maybe you should go there then.

after you, user

'Murica

It's really just an American thing. You don't see such bullshit outside there.

well sorry mate but in italy it's becoming a common practice to work for free because "experience". Can't wait to leave this shithole

2nd world here
it's required by law, that why they wanted me to work as an outside intern
also
>I want good workforce
>I don't want to invest in them
not american, European

i dont know who said otherwise but it's 100% normal to work for free as a student doing work experience. its part of your course work, you dont get paid for course

Unpaid internships are completely normal, particularly part-time ones.
t. Germany

Yeah, but I wanted to be a trainee not intern, or I don't know what the english word for it is.

That sounds awful. All my internships throughout college were paid internships. If somebody had told me they expected me to work for free I would have laughed in their fucking face.

Google ultron.

>Americans actually accept this

So much for freedom when you literally use your young ones as slaves.

I was talking about post graduation work. Of course internships are unpaid

>Work as IT Technician
>Got typical quest to install some program to freshly installed windows 10 computer 20 minutes before shift end
>Normally piece of cake 5 minutes
>Huh it requires net framework
>Meh just install it
>Error... cant download net framework for unknown reason
>Wtf? Fresh windows man. How someone that simple can already barf out error.
> Well put on fix downloaded from microsoft page.
> ERROR CANT FIX PROBLEM FOR UNKNOWN REASON.
>THE HELLL!!!!
> Play with dcim and sfc
> Fucking nothing worked.
>Looking for some offline installer for net framework
>Found something 200 mb.
>Its ONLINE INSTALLER wtf?
>Spending 1,5 of hour overtime to find solution
>Finally found some obscure youtube video solution with some package and activate it with DCIM commad.
>Installed that program
>Proceed to activate it via internet
>Error, cant do this.
>Well telephone activation is only option
>Its a tiring shit for introvert IT guy like me.
>Take phone and make call to activate.
>"Sorry but our helpline is available between 8:00 and 16:00"
>It was over 16:00

this is why uropoors will continue to be uropoors

How the fuck did they even get access to the Comms cab?

Aus here

They are NOT fucking normal and are ILLEGAL

I love google ultron so much. I read it when I'm feeling sad at work and it never fails to cheer my back up

I don't know what the 1234 thing is tho

You do realize this is widespread in Europe too, right, autismo?

>getting paid internships and treated with dignity
>get a decent start in life and contribute to the economy
>"lel uropoors"

Still holding on to that slave mentality, eh?

Load of shit, you get paid because you're not volunteering. I did one and got paid (poorly) and left because I was doing a full time engineering job for less than half their salary amongst other things. I still need to eat so I'll take my pay thank you very much.
>do you have any idea how much it will cost that poor company to train you and fix your mistakes
Depends greatly, if you're not retarded then they get very cheap labour. If you suck then yes you cost them money but that is also why they can fire incompetent employees.

With an internship you learn how to not get abused when you actually start work.

Over here we have 20 week internships where we have to work at a company to get experience. Some won't pay and some just a little.
However if a fucking company asks you to work for fucking free in your spare time you have all the reason to tell them to fuck off. Why the hell would you waste that valuable time you should use for making money to pay for school. You need to be an even bigger freeloader then me to be able to afford not earning a fucking dime while still fucking working.

I did an internship at my uni. All I needed was 80 hours to get course credit. Same as you, some places pay, some don't.

The tech industry isn't the strongest in Australia, let alone brisbane, so not many places offering payment.

""""Vendor managed"""" storage crashed. Lost 1000+ VMs. IT and the """Vendor"""had to rebuild everything over the holidays.

...

>get unpaid IT internship
>get part time job after graduation
>get promotion to full time
>get promoted twice more
>realize I'm being paid like shit
>too exhausted to do night school and get better degree
>realize this internship was the worst thing to happen to me
I'm trapped in a career where I will never meet a nice girl, never get promoted again, never expand my skill set. I've started doing /agdg/ at work just so I can learn things again.

Small remote site, 8 hours away from us. There was like 6 people there.

Did you pay the vendor for a DR SAN or did you just completely ignore the vendor when they said "Hey, you should probably buy 2 for DR in case of a production failure."

Here's some advice for you Sup Forums.

Never ever work for free. Even McDonald's must pay to train their new employees. There is no excuse for an unpaid internship other than the company's leadership being fuck-off greedy.

"Experience" is not a tangible asset. "Experience" is not an income. It can't be measured and it can't be valued. If they really want to make an investment in you as a member of society, they'll fucking pay you.

Never work for free.

Not him but you can't do that in win10

>DCIM
>Obscure
Good DAMN SON, that's like your Swiss knife for windows 10

Really? Since when? That's the case with Server 2016 and 2012.

don't matter, Juan Yotlatl de Cervantes will trabaja por nada por todo el día because ebt cards pay for his food and section 8 pays his rent

Not me but heard from my teacher
>student interns at one of the biggest ISPs in my cunt
>we practice on Cisco routers, everytime we start we wipe the current configuration and reboot so we get a clean slate
>first day in the job, this guy gets asked to check something on a live router
>plugs in console configuration deletes configuration and reboots
>entire room goes down
>whole department up in flames, for the next eight hours people scrambling around trying to get things back up again

Whoa there buddy. Don't cut yourself on that edge.

Not in my cunt.

Doesn't Germany have the appreciate system where you get paid
