nice nintendo ds op!

Got a note 8 today after having iPhones for 10 years now
God damn this thing is great but android takes time getting used to

Give it a week or two at least just to get acquainted with android. It will take a bit, but you'll quickly learn.

I made the switch back with the iPhone 6. (4s was my last iphone)

Oh the joy of learning something new, I envy you right now.

Does the Xperia X Compact really have any flaw ?
>Simplistic design
>Good screen
>Pretty good camera
>Perfect size , you can actually put it in your pocket comfortably

Are there really any other alternative apart from the upcoming ZX1 Compact ? Which is terribly overpriced

Before i pull the trigger on the Xperia XZ, can you help me here a bit?

Does the Xperia "sharp" shape feel good on grip?
Does it has any significant build quality problem? I dont want more phones dying on me after 1 year

z3c owner here, out of the two, which would you recommend upgrading to? I've got enough money for either, so it feels like it's a question of if I want to pay for the later software updates.

>Sprint
>US
>Apps
>KLWP
S8/S8+ or something else?

>Axon m
Damn they were faster than samsung

Everything is a lot better on xz1c. Battery life, soc, cameras, ram, Oreo out of the box, bt5. Benchmarks are at least 2x the score of x compact

Huh?
Samsung already has folding phones.

What the new samsung folding phone is about is a folding SCREEN. So the actual screen is foldable.

This is just two screens on some hinges.

Is it true US models of the X compact don't have fingerprint scanner functionality out of the box?

There's literally no worthwhile reason to upgrade from a 2015 flagship phone

I got htc one m8

What about a 2016 flagship?

How far away from Google can I get on android?

>pre-order V30 and get new Daydream VR headset for free
gsmarena.com/lg_v30_comes_with_a_free_yetunannounced_new_daydream_view_vr_headset_in_the_us-news-27447.php
I've never given much thought to the VR meme but this is a pretty slick deal, especially since I was pretty set on buying the V30 anyway.
And a 2 year warranty to boot.

Still no reason to upgrade either. Will use my S7 tll the battery explodes.

I'm on my 4th s7 replacement, it's garbage mate.

Lol what the fuck do you do to your phone?

I've had mine since launch day. Never had any issues, hardware or software for that matter.

What model number

New owner of it here.
>Some preinstalled bloatware/adware, but it can be disabled or ignored. Make sure to change the Swiftkey keyboard if you don't want to send all your typing to Microshit.
>Software updates are a bit slow to arrive.
>Camera could be better, especially in low light. 120fps video is max you get (720p), through a slightly hidden option.
>Flashlight is weak.
>Full charging takes 2+ hours with the regular charger.

But these are minor complaints. Overall I really like it. Fast enough for regular tasks. Fingerprint reader is good.
I can't wait to see how Oreo turns out.

Yes, it's disabled by software. I'm pretty sure you need root to enable it.

Yeah, possible contractual obligations preventing them, or something

gsmarena.com/turns_out_sony_cant_legally_enable_its_smartphone_fingerprint_readers_in_the_us-news-23704.php

There's some news going around that LG cheaped on the screen quality for the V30. Some phones got high quality displays while others have garbage backlight bleeding.

yup

androidheadlines.com/2017/09/report-lg-v30s-screen-exhibiting-color-imbalance-issues.html

Samsung

LineageOS with no GApps.

How does Sup Forums deal with screen burn in? My Galaxy s6 just got burn in of the notification bar.

It's an OLED screen so it doesn't have a backlight.
I've seen consistent reports that the shadows and color balance ge bad in low light (as in ), but we'll have to wait until the release to know for certain how widespread those issues are.
Given everything else about the V30 I think I'd be willing to accept those issues. If screen quality were a deal breaker for me I would just go Samsung hands down but fuck that.

I want to upgrade from my S7 because it's slow as shit and is over heating, but I realized I don't need a super powerful phone because all I do with my phone is social media, music, web browsing and texting. I don't need a $800 phone to do this. I want something a bit cheaper. All I require from a phone is

Good battery life
Good camera (I have a S7 so my standards are kind of high)
A headphone jack (it's stupid that I have to state this. All phones should come with headphone Jack's)
Atleast a 5.5 inch screen
SD card support
Easy to root

Any suggestions?

>in low light

This is very key though.

Dramatic pictures like these taken in dark rooms don't show what it looks like in normal use.
Just like with backlight bleeding it probably stops being visible the moment you turn the lights on. (because the room lighting is much brighter than any light bleeding through).

geezes what the hell are the phone manufacturing companies doing these days

Sure, but people like me anyway use their phones often for media viewing, in all lighting conditions. When i'm outside in bright sunlight, or when i'm in my bed in a pitch black room.

I have fairly color accurate displays at work and at home for my desktop. I do a decent bit of color sensitive work as my job. I am probably a good bit more sensitive to display color irregularity, but I feel with how severe it appears to be on the V30 I simply wouldn't like it.

However being as anal as I am with displays I already know to buy samsung and I have the Note8 currently so I wont need anything new for awhile.

All except SD card (but internal is at least 64gb anyway) then OP3T or op5

How good is the OnePlus 5?

For the price, it's the best.

I've yet to fuck with global phones, so how exactly does that work? I just order it online, and then activate it at a store?

If your current phone already has a SIM just pop it out and throw it in the new phone.

If you need a new SIM just order one from your carrier should be free, or maybe a couple bucks depending on the carrier.

I have a Samsung S8+.

Does anyone know any relatively cheap (below 30$ USD preferably) portable power banks that support the quick charge feature?

I'm just browsing off of amazon and there's so many options, I can't really tell what's best or supports the feature.

Nothing too bad, I hardly have anything on it. I use it mostly for web browsing, texting and music. It's slow as shit and fucks up in a new way every day.

I wouldn't go with a chink company as it probably doesn't actually meet the qualcomm quick charge specification.

Okay. I'm looking between this and the HTC U11. Knowing that, if I chose the OnePlus, I'd have to get a new plan because of the SIM card, unless I'm reading it wrong.

Which soc is the best power performance ratio.
sd660?

Are there any recent phones with QWERTY keyboards besides from Blackberry? Any cheap chinkshit?

Looking to upgrade from my RN3P as I want a good camera and it's starting to fuck up every now and then.

Leaning towards LG v20 as looking to spend around $500 AUD.

I loved everything about the RN3P except the camera.

I know the v30 is out soon but I don't really feel like spending $1000 on a phone.

Anything else you recommend or is v20 the best option?

Unlocked or Locked

How is the KZ ZS6?

Also any new meme in the last 3 months?

Should I got for a used S5 LTE-A (korea exclusive model with QHD display) for 186 usd off ebay? It's supported by LineageOS whereas S6 isn't so I thought it was a better idea.

Unlocked preferred but locked is fine too if you don't switch carriers often.

I haven't switched carriers since I first got a phone almost 18 years ago. Outside of that, what advantages does a unlocked phone have compared to a locked phone?

Careful about buying used Galaxy phones on eBay as sellers try to be sneaky and sell phones with burn in but don't show it in the images by using dark wallpapers

You can use the unlocked phone with other carriers while the locked phone is stuck with only 1 carrier. Obviously the unlocked verison would be worth more money which is good for resale.

If you buy a locked phone from your carrier at full price you can have them unlock it for you.

If you buy it on monthly payments once you're done paying the monthly payments you can have them unlock it for you.

So by the time you want to resell it, it would be an unlocked device.

My OP5 arrives tomorrow. Pretty excited, coming from an S7, then OP3 to this.

Outside of carrier shenanigans, that's literally it?

pretty much

Isn't the OP5 complete shit?
Or did they fix it?

>Go to thrift store out of boredom
>Find shit tablet for $5
>Clearly an old person's tablet, nothing but Candy Crush and Candy Crush screenshots
>check apps
>It's rooted
>check settings
>It's running a custom kernel

What should I do with this thing?

Exactly how much do the IP68 protection will cover me?
Can i go to shower with it?

Showering is fine, just know you can't really use the touchscreen while water is on it.

If you just want to use it to play music or some shit though then it will work.

IP68 i believe certifies water resistance up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.

The depth is your biggest concern as more depth adds higher pressure and is more likely to break through the water resistant seal.

So since a shower isn't going to be any depth (just water droplets) you should have no real concern.

Wipe the hell out of it.
If it's rooted it might have some shady shit on it

Yeah, unless you shower in some special water that gives smaller particles than a water drop. Like soap water or pool water or ocean water. Normal water won't fit through any holes and therefore it's splash proof. I use my phone in the shower all the time but not with soapy fingers. Capacitive touchscreens don't always work with wet fingers though.

Well the only problems people were saying were touch input delay and jelly scrolling. Touch input delay were fixed via update, but Jelly scrolling is apparent in certain models, however hardly noticeable and you get used to it.

I did a reset from within the OS itself and also through did a data wipe/factory reset from recovery. I also wiped cache and media from recovery as well.

Should that be enough? I noticed superSU is still there even through all of that, and I'm not sure if that should be the case.

wipe it and load up gigabytes of porn

even though my galaxy s7 is water resistant I still put it in a ziplock bag before the shower so the touchscreen still works and I'm not getting excess water into the ports. if you got a bluetooth speaker or something then bring that with you as the ziplock bag will block some sound.

All you need to do to enable the fp reader is to flash a non-US firmware, doesn't need root either.

Actually never mind on using it. I see now what the problem is.

I had it on a charger for close to an hour and, once I removed it, it died instantly.

I'd be mad but...it was $5

>v30
>note 8
>pixel 2 xl
which one should I get?

V30 has shit display and STILL doesnt even have an official release date despite being announced right after the Note8. Not to mention LG's long history of bootloops and other hardware issues across 3-4 generations.

Pixel 2 XL wont have headphone jack

Note8 is a bit pricey, but has the complete hardware package. Touchwizz isn't the best, but it's certainly customizable with launchers and shit.

I'd get the Note8.

Sounds like battery is dead or loose inside. Either way yeah at least it was only $5. Maybe you can put it on a shelf or wall, keep it hooked hooked forrever and use it as a slideshow decoration.

>V30 has shit display
elaborate please or gib source
>Pixel 2 XL wont have headphone jack
I use bluetooth buds anyway, and as far as I know note8 wont have one either

>elaborate please or gib source
androidheadlines.com/2017/09/report-lg-v30s-screen-exhibiting-color-imbalance-issues.html
see the picture here as well

>and as far as I know note8 wont have one either
The note 8 is already out, I own one. It has a headphone jack and bluetooth 5.0.

I have $400 IEMs though so I'm obviously not going to move to bluetooth.

is the note8 currently the best phone you can own?
also what IEMs?

When phones will have VA panels?

SE425 with custom fit sleeves.

$299 for the IEMs + $100-150 for the custom sleeves.

For pure specs yes the Note8 is currently the best phone you can get, but if you love iOS and hate android it wont matter to you, or if you ONLY like vanilla android you obviously would prefer a pixel to the Note.

Assuming you're fine with touchwiz, it's basically the best phone money can buy. At least until the iPhone X.

I've only used LG phones all my life, this might be the first time I get a Samsung, I've heard their softwares are absolute dogshit tier, below every other phone's

what is the best IEM for the money?

My dad needs a new phone, he works in dust environmental engineering. He wants a resistant smartphone with a good camera and. Any advices? Thanks.
( Belgium, budget 500~700€. )

The screen is a bit loose on one side too - I get the feeling someone pried it open to dick around on the inside and fucked it up.

Secondary display sounds interesting though.

The software isn't that bad and hasn't really been that bad since the launch of the S5.

The S6 and forward have been improving a lot and has been pretty usable and with the Note8 it's really smooth with the occasional animation hiccup or something being the only issue.

You'll only get a smoother android experience with Vanilla android. I have had LG phones in the past and their skin is pretty much just as bloated as the current version of samsung, they just have different design elements.

Hard to give an IEM recommendation since different IEMs will have different sound. I'd recommend looking around and potentially trying to find a show room that might have a few you can try or at least read some reviews on several to get a general idea.

I think $150-300 is probably a good mid level price point.

do you use a traveller amp/dac?
why / why not?

redpill me on chink battery cases for phones from aliexpress, are they any good or will they blow up my phone?

I don't because my IEMs aren't anything particularly fancy. If they were the higher end models then yeah I would probably do that.

The Note8 provides enough amplification by itself.

My Moto X Play broke. My options are limited due to my provider. Should I go with the Galaxy S7 or the LG G6? I looked up stats and they look fairly comparable but sometimes stats don't really capture the whole experience with a phone.

LG G6 has better camera and slightly longer battery life. Meanwhile Galaxy S7 has AMOLED screen and will be getting Android Oreo.

If you get the G6, just be really careful with it until you get a screen protector. The glass on mine randomly cracked 2 days after I got it from a little bit of force and it got a spiderweb crack on the top left side near the camera. It'll cost me $175 from my own pockets to replace it. And I just got it a week from today.

I would go with S7 just because I don't trust LG after bootloops and poor customer support. Plus amoled screens on Samsung phones look so much better than LCD phones.

Cool thanks. Stuff like that is why I always want opinions over just stats. I've only ever had two phones (x play and an iPhone 4s) so I don't have a breadth of knowledge on the subject.

Poor college student upgrading phone soon. Have at&t and a Moto X that I currently enjoy but I'm retarded and got one with barely any space. Only things I really care about are storage and decent enough battery. General suggestions for what I should look at?

Well, i just bought a ZX
Will i regret it?

New to /spg/, what do you guys recommend for a list of phones under $500 with
>SD card support
>Water resistant or above
>GSM

Ordered the original Xiaomi Mi Mix, did I fuck up?

it's still a good phone, battery lasts a long time too.

Yes, you can install a European ROM and it'll work though.

>I'm pretty sure you need root to enable it.
You do not need root, Xperia flashtool will allow you to install a European ROM without root, enabling the fingerprint scanner. I have done it with the Xperia X compact and Xperia XZ.

what wallpaper does /spg/ use for their phones? looking for something that's amoled friendly.

Got my Redmi note 4 a couple days ago, ama.

Are yuo burgerman? If so, does it work well in America? How noticeable are the bezels? did you root it? If so, how easy was it? Does it feel premium?
