if it can do C++ i'm in

VSCode BTFOd Atom a long time ago.
Atom is just playing catch up now.

>VSCode BTFOd Atom a long time ago.

to be fair, VSCODE itself is not that bad. but those pajeet developed extensions are the reasons I just cant use it anymore.

most extensions that I got used to having in atom, are severely bugged in vscode.

Thanks, Zuck!

>most extensions that I got used to having in atom, are severely bugged in vscode
Such as? Most of my extensions are just language integrations so I probably didn't encounter those.

he actually uses emacs.
:^) look it up

there probably will be.. this project is very new.

I dont like Zuckerberg either, but its a good thing if facebook is behind this.

They probably want something to make their React developing pajeets the life easier lol. Since I too use React in all my projects, I can be sure it will always support it lol

>Such as?
->the vim extension
->the EJS language extension

I tried importing various EJS text mate bundles myself, and they all dont seem to work properly. And as far I'v seen in discussions, smarter people than me cant figure out how to fix this for vscode.

Since I like EJS, I have to switch the editor rather than the templating engine lol

>EJS
PHP/JSP tier templating language

I don't use either of those but usually I hear people say that VSCode's vim extension is the best ever.

sure it is, if you enjoy a jumping cursor and deleting random words in your text.

who gives a fuck? EJS works fucking perfectly and you learn it in 5 fucking minutes.

the only problem with it, is poor support from texteditors developed by pajeets

used atom for about 2 months

sperged completly once, had to do complete reinstall

after 2 months it couldnt swallow 1000 lines of code

> couldnt swallow 1000 lines of code
> needs SSD to even work without lagging
> IDE

its a shit software and deserves to die, vs code runs 100x more smoothly

>try to use atom
>install IDE
>can't compile anything
>no debugger
>back to codeblocks

Maybe there's just something I'm missing here, since I'm new to programming, but when I use an IDE, I expect it to, you know, compile and run the program. Literally the only thing I've found that actually does this are codeblocks and dev c++ on windows. vim, emacs, vscode, atom, etc. etc. etc. all require jumping through a bunch of hoops setting up folders and directories and uncountable bullshit just to fucking compile a fucking program

These editors are obviously made by people so smart they end up being stupid.

Maybe this was true before version 19. Since then their text buffer is implemented in C++ and it opens any file for me (on macos with ssd though)

its made for interpreter languages,
support for others is a meme

>atom a web-based editor
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

I like vim, thanks
If I need an IDE for C++ projects I'll use code::blocks, intellij or something

someone said in another thread that atom is made by a faggot
sorry, but I don't wanna catch digital AIDS or anything like that

why would anyone use this electron shit instead of sublime text?

>itt: nothing that Notepad++ can't do

Does it have an embedded terminal?

what's the support like for python

Doesn't exist.

Sublime text is better for software development. If you're planning to build hello world programs just get the other ones like atom or vscode.

Why should I choose this over a cracked jetbrains

So Microsoft having access to all your code isn't bad

I really don't understand why everyone harps on about Visual Studio.

>So Microsoft having access to all your code isn't bad
nope, I'm webdev for fucks sake. I dont do anything revolutionary.

Where is the code that allows that? github.com/Microsoft/vscode

not really. every monthly vscode release atom is further behind

still can't edit larger files

nice FUD

I think its because it's the only microsoft product that hasn't been shit in 100 years

if any of your code files is larger than 1000 lines then you're doing something very wrong. if you're browsing log files using your ide instead of coreutils then you're doing something very wrong

>Since then their text buffer is implemented in C++
Then what is Atom's text buffer? A canvas node where?
Can you inspect it?

It does but pajeets won't shut up.

>I have never worked in production codebases
It's not 1993 anymore fucknuts, you don't need to split every single file apart into tiny individual function lines.

There are people on this board right now who can't tell the difference between VS and VSC.

atom is a laggy piece of shit. it is incredibly slow to open even with minimal extensions. vscode was alot better.

Switch out php with go and then it supports every lang i give a dick about

>1000 lines
>splitting every single file apart into tiny individual function lines
try again

Even the most basic fucking text editors have that.

Pathetic. Call me when they implement the amazing refactorings they have in Intellij.

ST3 is objectively better.

>facebook
>github
>javascript
>electron
>all in one project
Fuck this shit, this cancer better die fast. Also see josephg.com/blog/electron-is-flash-for-the-desktop/

>its a good thing if facebook is behind
said nobody ever.
Are you fucking retarded user?
I'll wait for people to start using and reporting on telemetry bullshit built into it.

try amVim sempai

I'm already using it for JS development since I used notepad before

>uses electron
electron, on linux, loads all the libraries chrome would use, including libcups.so, regardless of what acually gets used.

botnet
