Would you trust a 96TB RAID Array with your data?

I only trust my 6 year old 7200 RPM 250GB raptor drive with my data

If it hasn't failed me in six years, it's never going to fail me.

As long as it's not RAID 0, sure.

People that would trust this probably wouldn't bother with having a backup.

Sure, as long as I had another copy.

Is regional packaging not worth it?

That is a lot of power cords that most people will throw out.

Since I'd only need 5TB atm I could use massive redundancy and backups. So yes.

That seems awfully expensive. If you really want a prebuild solution, just get a Synology or QNAP. But I guess the dumbumbs need something to spent their money on, something Lacie understands like no other.

>Would you trust a 96TB RAID Array with your data?
NO. RAID is not backup.

Apparently not, since the Belkin Thunderbolt 3 dock also does the same thing.

Had to check.

12 8TB drives is about 3300 USD by itself.

So you are paying over 5000 USD for a case?

What's the cheapest storage rack setup that's actually worth building a rack for?

Don't forget to add a couple hundred for the RAID/SATA cards

>hardware raid
>thunderbolt meme instead of infnityband/10gbe
Hell no.
Good quality cord cost less than 2$ in bulk. Also such devices are rarely available outside of first-world countries. So many people would order them from abroad.
Sas2008-8i cost only 60$

>Sas2008-8i
In what world is 8 greater than or equal to 12?

How come Lacie didnt add network functionality, unless you can somehow do this with thunderbolt.

A box with that much storage seems perfect for a media house.

Even cheap desktop mobos have 4-6 sata ports.

> buy 24 10tb hdd : 7200€
> build two towers with pcie sata cards for 2000€

A 2*120 TB unit for the price or a 96TB
mfw

raid no, zfs yes

Buy 12 8tb hdds, ~$3288.
Buy 3 HP Microservers, ~$1170. Network them together, now you've got a 96TB networked storage array, plus a compute cluster.
If in britbonglang, get your £150 cashback and party all night long.
Still cheaper than the lacie.

b-but muh NAS hdds

>Lacie
Hell no. I worked in an electronics recycler years ago and that was the brand that broke most often. The drives were fine but the control boards are absolute shit.

Is Lacie the Apple of storage?

No because Lacie is low quality and won't get you laid
