I got a HackRF recently and will soon be upgrading to a USRP.
I'm looking to build something that will automatically point at satellites and see if it's transmitting anything. Any recommendations for a Azimuth-Elevation motor (with an API of some sort)?
Doesn't he need dishes of different sizes? Or else wouldn't he be limiting himself to a single frequency range and miss most of what's out there?
Aaron Flores
afaik the dish is only for bundling signals - there's an antenna in the middle - think WokFi. If the antenna is suitable for a broad band you won't need to switch.
Owen Wright
how do I get into SDR? I've used WebSDR and I wanna try finding signals local to me.
if you want to start on the cheap ones, get a DVB-T stick. they're around 9-19$.

RTLSDR is like 10 bucks. HackRF is 300 but you get chinese knockoffs for cheap
Kevin Hill
Thanks I'll begin researching them.

Snooping the radio waves sounds like a really nice hobby to have. Can you lads spoon feed me on how to start with this? As an anti-social neckbeard, I have no interest in transmitting.
