Bye Bye Internet

Will you miss the internet anons?
>Net neutrality is dead.
>Fiber is a dead.
>Soon websites will be held accountable for what users post.
>Firefox is becoming Chrome.
>Politicians like kissing the MPAA and Verizon.
>ISPs monitor sites you visit and downloads and send you copyright notices.
Will the mesh web be here in time to replace it or am I going to have to go outside soon?

We shall retreat to the deep web or ipfs

Those Trinitrons had really nice colors.

I assume isps as they get more pressure are able to block deep web access. Anything centralized seems dead.

I still have my old Sony's just for /vr/ games. If anyone out there wants good crts just look on craigslist people get rid of them daily.

I've already given up on the internet for serious discussion. I'll just stick to torrenting shit through my seedbox; I highly doubt alphabet soup agencies care about my chink cartoons and the MPAA can't do much about that.

Thankfully I haven't given a shit about a blockbuster in years. However with Netflix and Amazon mainstreaming anime soon copyright trolls will start knocking down my door. And there was the panda incident where tons of doujin were dmca'd off the web. Nothing is sacred anymore!

i mean if i can still get my fart porn i don't really care lmfao

It was good while it lasted. I'm happy I got to live during the Golden Era.

is this what the lair of a necropedophile looks like?

GET THE FUCK OUT

Friendly reminder that the death of net neutrality to keep the government from strangling competition and ensuring monopolies exist is a good thing

This is very true Comcast, Verizon, Time Warner all oppose Net Neutrality because they enjoy competition and do not like being monopolies.

it don't matter to me

You forgot:
>rising sea levels will destroy all coastal communication infrastructure in the coming decades

You better take that back. This is a picture of my room I just wanted to show you guys. Here is my vacation home when I need to destress.

Looks comfy. Sometimes i should go out in the forest with my x200 and post expired memes on /wsg/ for chill.

Wouldn't want to be too much of a downer. Maybe we will get cheap underwater dome technology out of it.

COMFY NEET DREAM

I miss the REAL Jordan.

ipfs is decentalized though, so there's that

What if it rains?

I just looked at ipfs. Looks promising, but it still runs on the current centralized internet which is easy to block access to things like this and see who is downloading what.

No rent. Using Neighbor's wifi and electricity.
He doesn't exist anymore.
I put up more rocks.

good god, the classcuckoldry

Not if you run a node on your computer. Then you can access data without a central web portal.

you misspelled pirateboxes and mesh nets.

I think the other user was being sarcastic.

literal man cave

But I don't want to go outside
Might as well kill myself along with the internet

>manchild cave
ftfy

So you want the government to have the authority to control what you can or can't do with your own networks and you're calling me the cuck? Do you have any self awareness of any kind?

But you're fine with ((( big companies ))) controlling what you do.

What's up with Firefox? How is it becoming Chrome?

WHY THE FUCK IS INTERNET SO BAD IN RURAL COLORADO HOLY FUCK LIKE EVERYWHERE OUTSIDE THE METRO AREA IS FUCKING GARBAGE I PAY 80 DOLLARS A MONTH FOR A WISP THAT ONLY PROVIDES ME 15 MPBS DOWN/UP AND IT GOES OUT AT LEAST 60 FUCKING TIMES A DAY SERIOUSLY I NEED TO FUCKING RESTART THE THING 60 TIMES A DAY BECAUSE OF HOW FREQUENTLY I LOSE CONNECTION FUCK THE INTERNET INFRASTRUCTURE IN THIS SHITTY STATE HAVING FIBER INTERNET AT THIS POINT SHOULD BE A GOVERNMENT ENFORCED STANDARD

IM FUCKING MOVING TO DENVER AND GETTING FIBER AND RUNNING MY INTERNET SIMILARLY TO HOW A NAZI RUNS GERMANY. FUCK COLORADO AND ITS OVERPRICED GARBAGE INTERNET IM SO MAD

thats all i had to get it off my chest thanks

I just want verizon tower unlimited 3g internet under 30 bucks a month and be able to pay it with a prepaid card you get in the store.

oh you spoiled fag i can top that.
My options are frontier, sudden link or a company called arm strong.
Armstrong is 5 mbs for 50 bucks and unreliable, every time there is a storm its down for weeks. WEEKS. Most customers don't get any form of a refund for downtime.
Sudden link offers 12 mbps for about 50 bucks.
Goes on an off all the time. 2-3 times a day it just shuts off. Everyone has this problem.
Sudden link is fast cable but they want 5000 dollars to install it on the property. The next pole over has it 300 feet away.
I have frontier but technically I don't. They won't install unless its a new house. I use a 24 db dish and pick it up from a neighbor a mile away and pay them 20 bucks a month for 6 mbps.

why the fuck are we forced to suffer like this dude

also i would pay the 5000 dollars for cable if i had that option. where i live we are literally stuck with this service called kellin communications. its the most inconsistent service WISP for around 70 ~ 80 dollars a month. shit sucks

Are you in bumfuck Jefferson county user-sama-kun-chan?

They're building the "gentrified internet" on top of moving sand.
And one greedy tech guy will bring everything down.

West virginia. I would give my left nut for a Wisp.
100 miles away in ohio they have a wisp that offers 50 mbps for 30 bucks a month.
What causes the inconsistency? Weak signal or something they are doing?

>dat shakugan no shana poster to liven up his dungeon
>same shion eltnam atlasia figure i have

good taste

no, i live even further. all the way in elbert county

never fucking come here if you want to use the internet. at all.

something to do with line of sight to their closest radio towers, where i live theres only one spot on our roof that can get line of sight.

That is the comfyest thing I have ever seen. I want this. How long do you actually stay there? Do you get power? What problems do you encounter. TELL ME MORE.

Have you tried a tower? Height always helps. schedule 80 4 inch pipe would be very strong and you can use a post hole digger and some concrete for the base. How tall is your house?

Fuck, let's face it, the good old days of "total freedom" & "torrents of everything" is almost gone. Just like file hosting sites that actually let you download files instead of feeding you tons of popups and false "download" buttons. Ads and fucked up website gui's based on the fucking flat ugly Win 8/Ten theme are the norm now. Fucking site bloat is utterly shameful, remember the good ol days when you could load a site and it'd be usable with dial-up/low end DSL?. All gone now. My advice? Grab what you can, protect it via multiple copies (hdds are cheap). Store in anti static bags or keep offline/unplugged safely out of the way.

my house is on a hill, but its colorado so theres hills everywhere.

yeah i could build a tower, but honestly its not worth it since no matter what I have to move from here soon. its just a really annoying situation ive been stuck in for ten years that ill be free from soon.

I2p gives me hope

>>Firefox is becoming Chrome.
why?

>Will the mesh web be here in time
Before that we will probably get a faster version of Tor.

I always knew it wouldn't last forever.

Is OP's pic a leaked image of the Vegas shooters PC setup?

He was a Sup Forumsfag that liked the Power Puff Girls.

well it's your fault for not voting

>land of the free

>land of botnet

>fiber is dead
what's up with that? Who says it's dead?

Bought a 32" one for 30€ when our main 42" LCD broke, we seriously where through bad times and my dad was freaking out. It was the cheapest alternative for a working TV

It is a fucking monster, like I think it is around 80kg, but really not bad, good colors, big screen, 16:9, flat front glass

Then the 42" starts working again and a few months later we buy a 60" 4K, but we have a really big house so this Sony will always have a place here

> (OP)
>>>Firefox is becoming Chrome.
>why?
Cause people stopped using firefox after every update made it more shit and slower. Plugin framework changed, devs didnt update their plugins in time and on my end, even some sites with flash crashed ff intermittently. Update after update came, but still the same shit for months on end. Switched over to chrome for about 6 months. Checked the other day and the ff flash crashing issue seems 'kinda' fixed. Instead of crashing, it now just 'hangs' on some sites with flash, after some time showing an 'this seems unresponsive: wait or close?' message. I genuinely detest Chrome but i also hate a browser that crashes every time. Every time something gets updated in firefox the entire browser turns to shit for months on end so it seems.

I've been developing anonymous overlay network techniques for the last two decades and change; some of my research has fed into other things you may have used.

Nazi and pedo assholes don't really make me feel comfortable about releasing my work, but when the walls fall, there won't be much choice: here I'll be, with the best I can do.

Don't expect everything to be quite the same. There are drawbacks as well as advantages to that kind of lack of control. You'll miss this when it's gone. Cherish it.

What good is the deep web when Tor is dead?

he meant the actual deep web

Except net neutrality doesn't give the government control, it means you have control over what you use your connection for. Without it, corporations will happily turn the internet into a walled garden of sanitised sites with Codes of Conduct and no dissenting opinions allowed. Obviously this site would be one of the first blacklisted.

Is there any equivalent to Tor in terms of usability and popularity? No point in securely accessing some buried web page if you're the only one there. Forums will die out without a certain level of traffic.

freenet is doing fine

The problem is anyone using anything alternative to the mainstream internet will be assumed to be some kind of criminal. After all, you'd only do that if you have something to hide. Hell some places want an "internet driving licence" thats required to access websites.

Ironically i think the next generation are going to develop a tactility fetish, and want to do REAL things, unlike the obsession with the virtual we have. Listening to music on cassettes and vinyl, board games, LAN parties, arcades are all going to make a comeback. They already are to some small extent.

Internet is old technology at this point, see you guys in astralnet, where we connect our minds and use the brains as hard disks, porn is gonna be great

>he's crying about net neutrality
>he's worried about his ISP spying on his autism box in his basement
>he's not worried about his smart car being tracked by satellites and over the horizon dooms day arrays
>he's not worried about uninstallable botnets on his black box processor communicating to Google directly via satellite that you just downloaded not one but several hitler memes
>he's not worried about the sentient real doll he just bought electroshocking his dick for using non gender neutral pronouns

What can I do in life besides the internet?

Not everyone here lives in the US, faggot.
And no, we will not miss you.

Cocaine, gentoo and cocaine

>NN doesn't exist for most of the planet and never caused an issue
>lolwut
>unlikely
>literally always been the case
>choosing a shit ISP

I did, both suck (Gentoo the most)

Because it's illegal in the US to have internet competition.
Literally everywhere else in the world there is competition and no need for NN.

In USA they prop up monopolies and citizens get really angry when those monoplies get threatened by competition.

I don't know user, have you considered moving out of the US?

The only thing that remains is the minimum use of the Internet, for work, study or processing issues (normal and encrypted email, websites to make some kind of record of something in particular, find out prices or search for information about a particular place, etc.).
The Internet is a necessary evil, but one should not be caged in it.
Personally, I'm sick of everything that's happening on the Internet. It's fucking bullshit made by shitty people to make all people into assholes.

Google - ms - mozilla, etc. are great and do what they do with users in terms of privacy, usability and so many other things because the demand is great. They abuse having addicted people. But you know what? live off us. Without us they cease to exist because they need our attention. Like the crap content of television, radio, graphic media, and all the crap from the mass media. Its content is focused on the users they have. In other words, without casual users or casual users they will have to change in order to adapt or disappear completely.

Still, there's so much shitty information that you get to a point where you saturate yourself and do nothing at all. Your life follows a pattern of passivity that brings problems of self-esteem, depression and stress. Without being out of touch with that shit for so long, your life changes.

My goal for next year is to use the internet as a source of timely information, e-mail for work - study - paperwork, and pages where I have to go irremediably. Fuck Sup Forums, youtube, social networks, news, online games, downloads, etc. (downloads will be sporadic but less than this year, which was actually much less than in previous years). They've got me with the balls on the floor to mess with my privacy, they want to fill my head with ideology of shit every fucking day, and many other things that make more and more of the internet a garbage.
Anyway, for those who want alternatives are:
deep web, free net, open net, and others (it's best to be AFK)

This

see you next week

Why do NEETs always fantasize about living in vans, caves, one room apartments, hostels, temples, monasteries, and other strange and claustrophic places?

what better place to build your own skynet?

Don't need to vacuum if you literally have a dirt floor

>not in my country
>not in my country
