no

looks like you're going to have to add possession of CP to my rap sheet as well officer!

good luck i'm behind 7 encrypts

Oh, this thing? Heh, take it.

Could never get it to work for me anyway.

It's a company laptop and due to the information stored on it and the systems it can access we'll need to get management, our security team and legal on the line. I also have no motivation to move quickly since I'm on a business trip to meet with people I hate anyways. By all means, let me get our guys on the phone.

I chuckled

err what sonny? decrypt? i aint indian jones you know.

I've always been curious about how anal these searches really are.

I have about 3Tb of pirated material. would that get me in trouble?

drat! how did you know the bomb was in there?!

could i opt for an anal probe instead?

I highly doubt they search the files on laptops, they just put all your stuff through a scanner thing and they would have to extract the data remotely somehow.

who the hell hides cp on their main drive anyway?

I guess if some cartoonish, greasy, obese man with an ill-fitting shirt holding hands with a scared little girl went through the gate, then maybe.

Do they even put on a fresh pair gloves after their last anal probe?

I worked in the same lab as the guy that invented remote hard drive reading AMA

does it damage the drive?

I have some rare media and I'd be pretty pissed if it got damaged

no
then i take my business elsewhere

No it does not

As far as I know it only works for HDD- it reads the magnetic alignment

>he doesn't keep his computer in a Faraday cage

Maybe it works for SSDs too because I get harassed by airport security alot.

We've already had this thread.

Hello, officer.

I'm not sure what you mean by "decrypt". Is that one of those things that criminals do to hide their illegal activities? There is no password on my laptop. I just type enter and start using the computer. My GMail and Facebook password is "savethechildren123".

Let me know what else I can do to help make this flight more safer for everyone.

It's not a laptop officer. It's an Apple MacBook Pro™

What is this technique called?

TSA doesn't search the files on your laptop. They just check it for bombs. Customs is the one that does searching, and they're not doing it for security.

Sure, that's fine. My real filesystem will be transferred as a dd image over SSH and cloned back to my drive after I reach my destination.

The header is damaged and the backup is in my balls. Time to blow the job, fuckboi!

Not going to happen without a warrant. Here's my lawyer's phone number, so if you're going to detain me, you need to call him before talking to me.

What laptop?

Or what? Rejecting a citizen to enter his own country?

>transited through Amsterdam Airport
>traveled with a thinkpad x200 in my backpack
>goes through the scanning process
>backpack goes on the second lane
>"Is this your bag sir?"
>"It is."
>*starts opening various container zippers*
>"I'm gonna need to have a second look on this sir"
>its_not_like_if_i_have_any_choice.png
>"Sure"
>takes the laptop's protective case and scan it a second time
>repetitively goes forward - backward few times
>laptop finally goes off, has a closer look to it.
>tries to open it but doesn't notice the "lock" to slide
>my_face.jpg
>"Is something wrong with my computer?"
>*he finally opens it*
>"Nothing wrong sir. It's much thicker than other laptop, I just wanted to have a second look."

This was the funniest time, but old memepads often raise the interest of airport staff. Nobody ever asked me to turn it on and type my password.
I never traveled to burger land tho. If I do I'll go under the assumption they'll want to unlock my laptop, phone and go through my facebook.

or they'll lock you in a room for hours then they'll take ALL your electronics for """security""" reasons.
>your ssd
>the laptop itself
>even your headphone and usb cables as they can be plugged in the laptop :^)

vc.gg/blog/so-its-been-a-while.html

Ok you can go through

No they only want to do that shit if there is a particular reason to, like if they don’t trust your reason for coming to the country. Example, you say you are coming to visit, have no return date, insist you are not coming to work, they will demand to go through your emails and texts to make sure you aren’t planning illegal work/immigration, as a prerequisite for letting you come in (maybe with other measures). If you’re coming for business and have your return ticket already booked for 1-2 weeks later and a hotel paid for already, nobody is gonna give a shit about what’s on your phone and laptop beyond if you’re smuggling cocaine inside them.

t. Watch a lot of border security on tv

its not encrypted, you mongoloid.

This machine contains sensitive compartmented information and per federal statute I cannot disclose its contents to you. If you are intent on auditing the files on this machine you will need both a letter of consent from the department that I serve, an authorization form from the DHS and an agent with sufficient clearance to handle the information.

I don't have the article link and I'm too lazy to search it back for (you) but look for an article or blog post about a NASA employee that has been coerced to give the password of his work machine. The land of the free :^)

>boot into dummy windows partition with Jesus wallpaper and gay porn in Desktop\New Folder

If they had authorization to do so or he wasn't carrying sensitive documents / information or there was someone with proper clearance to handle the information and the employee was at liberty to comply, it's not a big deal. If he was carrying sensitive / classified information, did not have the authorization to release it and the inspecting agent did not have the proper clearance, that is a felony offense. I've had fairly influential officials ask me questions to which I have had to politely decline answering and they have had no choice but to back off for the time being. TSA grunts generally not only do not have clearance to handle even confidential (let alone classified or compartmented information), but often are working on contract for DHS, not actually as their employees. I don't have to give them shit.

You'd have to set this up so he doesn't see you scrolling down the grub menu

where else do you hide it user?

Thinking about it, can't I just put a dummy drive with a plain Jane OS and keep the encrypted stuff separate? Will they look into those too?

Just take out your main drive from your laptop and stash it in a box.

>Nobody in this thread have heard about hidden encrypted partitions.

Sure officer, just let me type in my password
>Password opens an alternative encrypted partition that is clean as a whistle.

? That feature came preinstalled even with Truecrypt back in the day. Choose one password then you get your "daily driver" choose another password and then you get the clean one.

Have you never tried encrypting anything? Just get a hidden partition. It's impossible to know that a hidden partition exist. It just looks like regular encrypted empty space.

>tfw I look like that faggot tsa agent

How would one achieve this in dm-crypt?

You're acting as if information security specialists aren't going to look for these sorts of things and ask you to reveal your secrets.

I use encryption sir.
You're right about that.

>You're acting as if information security specialists aren't going to look for these sorts of things and ask you to reveal your secrets.

Well they can ask as much as possible, but anyone with a bit of knowledge in cryptography knows that it is mathematically impossible to check if a hidden encrypted partition exists. Only that a disk is encrypted, but if you open up a dummy partition then it's mathematically proven that it's impossible to know if the dummy partition is the only one or not.

The only way they might know there is a hidden partition is if you tell them.

Don't know, never used dm-crypt. But it's literally just checking a box if you do it with VeraCrypt. You can even do this with encrypted files in VeraCrypt.

Yes here is the script (puts whole system into a chroot with lots of stupid photos of family and complaints letters to the local energy/water company+a minor fap folder which has innocent porn in to make it seem more realistic so you can shuffle you feet and look a bit embarrassed, perhaps soccer mums taking clothes off on a sofa type stuff---kind of stuff the sec guard would prob like).

ha ha

>remove hard drive from laptop before travelling
>they cant do shit

In that case, you'll do a little inspection yourself
*unzips dick*

But what about the cavity search :(

After so many times passing through there, is have to say you need to be a really special snowflake to get them to search your laptop. Heck, ive even accidentally brought box cutter and scissors through a few times and they can't even detect it. It was when I return that the other country caught it and I gave it to my relatives there

Isn't you are suppose to take out the laptop? Or that is just international flights? I own a x220t

That's because you look like a pedoman

Technically true, he isn't the FBI

What do they do it for then

Dutch guy here.

Do I need to unlock my stuff when going to Canada?

Fuck off AppleShill.

With pleasure, I love an apple ^TM dick.

This is why you keep files in a private cloud service or leave them at home so you can SSH.
