How long does it take load windows explorer for you when you press the icon?
Mine loads in like 3-5 seconds normally. Sometimes it takes like 10 seconds. This is fucking bullshit.
I installed win10 like a half year ago, it all was working great, but the performance started to go to shit. For a month it was unbearable, youtube videos stuttering, fucking shit freezing, the computer became almost unusable so I decided, welp, I probably installed and deleted too much shit. Clean install will surely solve this.
I installed windows clean, everything is up to date, installed a few programs, firefox. The thing is as I type this text, the text lags for like 3 seconds at times. Window explorer opens in like 4 seconds. My computer has samsung ssd, I ran optimization, all that shit. How is this fucking possible? Nothing changed in half a year, but the performance went to absolute shit.
Half a year ago the performance was flying, now even youtube starts to stagger. My laptop is quite old, has i7-2630 cpu @ 2ghz and 16gb ram.
Is it possible to fix this situation?

>windows 10
Found your problem
Install Gentoo
near-instantly (windows 7)
Yeah, I appreciate the input, but I need windows for some programs. I would throw out windows out right through the window, but I need dem programs.
Anyways, this shit is extremely annoying. Any way to solve it?
check your hardware, start with ssd, then check temps on cpu/gpu, no way OS all of the sudden started lagging only for you, because it went "shit"
Could be HDD problem - had something similar with a dying HDD before, though that one was external so only affected it when that particular one was being loaded.
1 second, sometimes 2.
mine takes 0.10 seconds
Faster than I can measure mentally, i5-6500 @ 3.20 on a normal 7200RPM HDD
In less than a second. I have a FX 4300 with 8 gigs of RAM. If you can de-botnet-i-fy windows, you can make it REALLY fast and responsive.
>How long does it take load windows explorer for you when you press the icon?
About half a second I guess, maybe faster.
>Mine loads in like 3-5 seconds normally. Sometimes it takes like 10 seconds. This is fucking bullshit.
If windows is installed on an SSD this isn't normal. Do you have a slow HDD in your PC? Maybe windows spins it up before explorer finally launches. Though normally they should only spin up if you acces them.
Ah I just remembered one more thing. Take a look into the system logs to check for errors and try to fix all of them. The computer of a friend of mine slows down to a crawl when a DVD is inserted and it repeats the same error every few seconds.
CIA nigger rootkit keylogger
lmao kys cuck.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say your hard drive is defective
Okay, so ssd is evo 850. The magician shows that it is in good condition.
CPU temperature is 50 celsius. The cpu runs at 800 MHz.
Somehow GPU, which is Geforce GT 540M doesn't show it's temperature, this seems a little bit suspicious to me. The memory usage is around 2%.
Gonna check out system logs now.
...
It's instant
>clicking on Explorer
>not Win + E
wow you're so amazing user, you know so much about windows and its secrets!
Soo, win+E opens it almost instantly. What the actual fuck?
>not using Win + (#) to browse windows like i3
>using alt tab like a pleb
1-2 seconds
>using Windows 10
>wondering why shit doesn't work right
Install Windows 7
its easier to press alt tab than win #(3)
I got a win10 laptop just a few weeks ago and had been having to wait for it to open up for about 2-3 seconds and this works instantly. weird.
Win+# launches the corresponding program on the taskbar, alt tab cycles through open windows
It's not even the same function.
It incidentally works like that if you don't have any program pinned.
also
>not using win + tab + arrows or mouse
Win + # switches tabs in chrome
That's ctrl.
Applications aren't supposed to use win for shortcuts.
youre right
my bad
It's a W10 issue.
If you open it with Win+E it's fast right?
yes, but still, everything else tends to lag up randomly
we aint telling you switch to linux, we are telling you use anything but 10
your hard drive is dying
backup and replace immediately
>using alt tab at all when win tab is superior
cmon now it ain't windows vista anymore
It opens literally instantly. You are a fucking retard and your pc is shit. Fuck off back to your favourite subreddit.
I can't imagine how, with your specs, it runs so shitty.
I'm still using the stock install my laptop came with and it's running great two years later on an A8 with 8GB RAM and no SSD. My windows 10 install is on the stock 1tb 5400rpm HDD it came with and it runs just about as smoothly as my arch+kde install on a hybrid drive (though since the OS is on the SSD side i will say Linux boots faster and a lot of programs load really quickly)
>press the icon
>having stuff pinned
Less than 0.5s on SSD
ma nigga
takes less than half a second for me
windows 8.1 with an SSD
I don't know user. My explorer loads in less than 1 second.
>Press Meta+e on Windows 7
>Windows Explorer opens the very moment i let go the e key
Linux doesn't have this problem
1. Unpin file explorer from taskbar
2. Make sure it's not here anymore C:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar
3. Create file explorer shortcut on desktop
Right click -> New -> Shortcut
(C:\Windows\explorer.exe)
4. Right click on it (shortcut) and pin it to taskbar
