What's the point?

As I'm getting older, I'm starting to care less and less about most of the Sup Forums memes. I have a job, a social life, and I don't have time anymore to play videogames/rice my phone or PC/do overly complicated things regarding my privacy. I have become what I hate, and I want something that just works for once, and that I won't have to overly think about. I own a macbook already, and I'm definitely going to buy a Pixel 2 when it's available.
I feel like, unless you work in the tech field as a young adult, there's not really any point anymore in keeping an interest in overly complicated technologies. Anyone else feel like this? How many of you have become normies yet?

Should have just finished your arch build

worst thread on Sup Forums

I've more just become annoyed that the progress we've made has been used to bloat shit up. My habits haven't changed at all for about 10-15 years, but to do the same things requires a computer about 4x as powerful.

Have you become what you hate, or have you become what hateful Sup Forums hates? Who cares, enjoy your life.

stop making these dumb threads

that's what any normalfag would say about Sup Forums in general. if you're a normalfag who wants the simplest stuff and actually has a job and a social life, this is not the site for you, fuck off.

Muh secret club ;_;

t. failed normie.

why don't you leave then
i also want to leave
but i can't

Who gives a shit what people here think. If living that way makes life easier for you, more power to you. Life's hard enough as it is.

But gaming is cool. I find most videogames boring now unless it's forza (6/10) or gta v (5/10) some of my friends are gamers. Also, what's wrong with ricing your phone? I like a good cover that's stylish but not to mess with my system (custom launchers, etc) who the fuck cares

No, it's not the site for YOU. Gtfo

Kys

"Enjoying" a shallow life is the dumbest normie meme of all. Make your own choices, sure. But at least attempt to have some form of meaning beyond gormlessly consuming over hyped, design by committee sewage.

Nope. I don't dick around with Arch but that's because it's pointlessly complex to maintain. I don't have the ability to become a normie.

>MUH SAFESPACE

To some degree, yeah, I feel quite like you.
I'm not even that old, though.

Personally, there are things, behaviours, preferences, stuff that I don't really grasp.

This black-white categorization of everything the market puts in front of us: Apple or Google, Macbook or Thinkpad.
Why even debate if that's something that will eventually be used by you, and should involve just you, on your personal POV?

I don't get this privacy-paranoia, either.
I mean, I get that we shouldn't simply give a fuck about our data, metadata or whatever makes big companies even bigger (I'm a core sw engineer in a big-data company, I know what that means).
But I don't get the "extra" precaution, reaching a maniacal degree.
Perhaps I'm just desensibilized, who knows.

Videogames used to be fun.
As I started my CS career, they become less and less appealing to me from an "entertainment" standpoint, but much more interesting from a technical point of view.
Basically I'm more interested in the techincal challenge than the end result (the game itself).
Probably has to do with the whole photorealism ciclejerk that's been affecting the game industry lately -- in fact, the Switch is what reminded me of how fun a game can be.

Still, I can't use any other form of DE that doesn't provide twm-like functionalities.
Fucking i3, biased forever my user experience

grow up

...

you don't really have time to have more than two major+minor hobbies

You are growing up, cut yourself from the question 'what's the point?' It only creates doubt in your feeble mind

You are just weak nu/g/ faggot.
The rest of us will continue our conquest for true freedom.
Just leave already.

>continue
It is not in your path to question things and why they are the way they are. You just stumble across an open door that you don't want to cross already so be kind to yourself and keep on chooglin' with the rest of the herd

>overly complicated technologies

This is why no one takes mactoddlers seriously.

WRONG

The older I get, the more of a normie I become.
It's just the natural way of things
Even turbo Autists don't stay kissless virgins forever.

*laughs haughtily in your direction before teleporting behind you and casting Wrath of the Magi*

wise words

>As I'm getting older
There's your problem.

You lost your edge.

And then, the next thing you know, you have Parkinson's.

Op, the time has come to kys.

More oxygen for us.

Sorry to say that, but you always was a normie.

tfw i know this feel

If it's extremely difficult to push the wrong button, then they expect some to push the wrong button despite there is only one on the mouse.

>I'm definitely going to buy a Pixel 2
You are not a normie, just a consuming retard with shit taste.

There is not really any point in keeping an interest in anything once you become an adult. Work on a job - keep your family safe - watch Game of Thrones on the weekend. Why waste your time and energy on something that's not really beneficial to you and doesn't bring you any joy?

What's the point of literally anything? That's right, there is none, so fuck off and just do what makes you happy

i was like that when i was younger, then started getting older and had way less time to be fucking around with complicated shit. linux was a piece of shit back then so i didn't get into it until recently. i'm 31 now, and life has started to get a little easier. work isn't hectic, life is less stressful, so i've started to have a little free time again. i've always been fascinated by computers and technology, so i just started to get back into it. also because linux was fucking dogshit when i was your guy's age i never got into ricing or anything like that, because it didn't exisit. i don't know how you guys sperg the fuck out and figure out all these asinine settings and config files and shit. i just don't have the drive for it like i did when i was young, doing pointless (albeit cool) shit like that.

Actually, nothing fucking care OP, do whatever you want, don't worry, you are not a normie.

>writing an essay how u lost the game

enjoy being settled as a wagecuck, certainly not the worst timeline

You're just lazy, and no one cares for your excuses.
kys

is this what post-autism looks like?

nice blog

I have a job and life, but I still care about my privacy. These things aren't mutually exclusive you know.

>As I started my CS career, they become less and less appealing to me from an "entertainment" standpoint, but much more interesting from a technical point of view.

I'm 30 have been at my current job over 5 years and pretty much this. Now I still play WoW and maybe the occasional FPS(CS:GO, RS:S, etc) but I find more enjoyment out of dissecting game engines and looking at how they tick.

The current one I am messing with is Tombstone, the new version of C4 Engine. Which is one of the more complex engines I have poked around in(even more so then CryEngine or UE4).

I'm 23, figures.

A really good read I can suggest you is "Game Engine Architecture" by Jason Gregory.
Another game engine that seems to be really promising is Piston: the core developer seems to be a really smart guy.

>62905637
Hmm, a quick look at Piston it is not so much a game engine(as he calls it) but more of something like DirectX or SDL but for Rust.

nice blog faggot

this.

GTFO OP.

normie detected

...

lmao damage control, youre both normies

kill yourself

Just because you quit doesn't mean we will.

so in like 10 years when everything is beyond your grasp, will you pay someone money to teach you how to operate in life or will you be one of those crusty old farts who comes into retail stores and yells at employees about how your computer machine done broke?

grow up

> Arch women

I be thinking most of the people using this are trash skirt wearing fem fags

>I feel like, unless you work in the tech field as a young adult, there's not really any point anymore in keeping an interest in overly complicated technologies. Anyone else feel like this?
No I don't feel like having any tech related topic as a hobby is pointless. You gotta do something for yourself. Something that isn't purely to place food on the table, and purely to please others. You have to live for yourself too. If I stop fiddling with my computers, I will surely take up another hobby. If I wasn't fiddling with my computer, I would probably be out fishing or riding my bike, or maybe even be at home drawing or reading.

or fapping

Can do that while fishing

I'm near 50 and I'm reading this while running and emerge update on my gentoo box. It seems like you have given up. I would pity you but that's wasted on the dead.

alright normie, get out then

play cuphead faggot

Glad i'm an introvert, i only need to socialise once a week and that satisfies my need for non-work human contact and my commute is only 45 minutes.

So i have 5 or 6 evenings free to do whatever i want.
