Stop microsoft from ruining pc games.
Remember when pc games where like deus x, but now they are all like deus x 2.

They're talking about prebuilts.

mini-itx builds mounted on the back of a cheap 1080p monitor like pic related

99% of people out there don't even need anything more than a budget raven ridge apu

They've been "predicting" desktop PC death for decades

PC gaming is growing actually but PC sales are declining.

No one needs to upgrade like they did in the past. A 10 year old computer can browse facebook and play HD youtube videos.

As phones get more powerful, more people are finding they don't need anything else.

unless you are a hardcore gaymer you don't need to buy a new computer anymore.
you can easily do your browsing, mailing, skype, porn, on a desktop that is 7-10 years old.

Good I hope normalfags fuck off.

More people build a PC why would you buy a prebuilt in the first place

computers died in the 90's around the dot com boom.

>you will never use a PDP-11 or Symbolics lispM

so?

There's just more options for varied needs. It's fine

The fact is that most normies never needed a PC, they just needed a smartphone or tablet to check email/messenger clients. But for a couple decades those devices weren't invented yet so people were forced to buy a desktop PC just for those purposes. Now only people who actually need the processing power are buying desktops.

you have to blow up the apple macbook factory first of all
but also everyone just has laptops of any kind anyway so really laptops are the problem why no one is buying prebuilts anymore
but we don't need to save this market the custom pc market, albeit stupidly gamer-oriented, is pretty much always better.

They're going to become a niche device over time since they aren't needed by normies like 10 years ago, it's not like it's gonna completely die though

>microsoft
>ruining pc
lol

The only reason I got a PC was to pirate games

No one care about you dumb frogposter

Care enough to reply

Well it just seemed that you thought i cared about you and i wanted to let you know.

PC sales report comes from PC manufacture, don't sale motherboard.

New i3 and APU ryzen will update PC market.

Except this is the exact reason why PC sales are dropping. You don't need a new PC if all 99% of people need is a VESA mount box. That's why you see the occasional push for smartphone docks that hook up to a keyboard, mouse, and external display. Modern smartphones would have good enough hardware for basically everyone who doesn't play AAA games or use their PC for other non casual purposes if the software and OSes they ran weren't bloated shit.

You can't build your own smartphone.

Care enough to reply
>implying I care about you

this. I recently retired a 7 year old office PC and it wasn't even out of necessity.

Easy, ruin bitcoin mining

So what? Do you honestly think there was a time in the past 3 decades where more home users assembled their computer themselves from parts than just purchased a new one?

>miners assfuck the gpu prices
>vidya industry is absolute garbage
>browsing the net has narrowed down to YT and facebook for normans, who use smartphones only
really boggles the monitors

Most people i know always buy the latest shit for smatphones. It isn't the case for PC.

...

...and?

hence the PC decline while the Smartphone market goes up

That's exactly what I said here: >You don't need a new PC if all 99% of people need is a VESA mount box.

desu i'd prefer pc's to be a niche while normies all have tablets and iphones

There is no need to save today's PC sales. People don't by fridges or washing machines every year but they still sell enough.

Exactly. They are good enough and there's not that many compelling reasons to buy a new one just because it's old. My fridge is old but I'm not replacing it just because of age.

Part of why it stalled right there, nothing new from Intel or AMD for years and years, just same shit new branding from Intel and nothing from AMD. Ryzen and Intel's rushed response finally gave us some improvement worth looking at, even if it's minor.

A current smartphone is amazing compared to just a two year old one. A five year old PC is pretty much like a new one.

>A five year old PC is pretty much like a new one.
No you're wrong. PC evolved too more than phones.

Until Moore's Law is rebooted this trend will continue.

You can't. 100% of 95% of users need no more than a cheap laptop and they buy accordingly. That's if they have a laptop at all and don't do everything on their phone.

This. Hell, my computer is actually 13 years old, but it's about the level of a normie's 10 year old computer.

all of these are terrible and the reason PCs don't sell anymore. They cost a shit ton, and have terrible performance thanks to the gimmicky form factors.

what about computer parts? oh wait, that's not part of the narrative.

You're a retard. These are more asked than the regular PCs. In fact, the 2 in 1 pc devices are growing and not declining.

imo it looks like some execs decided to manufacture hype.

>what about computer parts? oh wait, that's not part of the narrative.
People who build their own computers have always been a small minority when compared to people who buy prebuilt computers. If there's a drop in sales, it's going to be due to the actions of the majority of consumers and not due to a niche group getting slightly larger.

VR

Also mobile computing is still personal computing, just in a different form factor and oriented towards consumption rather than creation, something a majority of PC users do anyways.

Nobody needs to upgrade a PC to play @1080p
Almost nobody can buy a 4k machine.

The next big thing will be 4k mainstream.

I would buy the shit out of sutface studio if I could afford it.

>4k mainstream

Wont happen. People haven't even given up DVD yet.

collapse of cryptocurrency

I literally have never purchased a non-refurbed computer.

Only time I've got new computers are from employers.

Do refurbs count in these sales?

Those are all links to laptops and a monitor with a built-in laptop. And none of that is very revolutionary.

Consider this, that marketing reviewer mentions that the first overpriced laptop has a two megapixel camera. Oh joy, a 2000 usd computer with a worse camera than a $99 phone.

"Two in one" sells when someone likes a laptop and it happens to also have that feature. Nobody cares, up to 8" is good for tablets. Above that it's pointless and laptops are better.

except consumers want 2-in-1 laptops not just a tabler or just a laptop nowadays.

>People haven't even given up DVD yet.
Why would they? How often do you find yourself watching a movie where the slight difference in quality is worth paying 50% more to own (and if you're pirating how often are you burning to any disc)? It should also be noted that physical video rentals have been dying for a while and streaming has been taking over for that role.

DVD looks better on a 4k panel.

MCM GPUs will make 4k 60 fps mainstream and sheap.
Also the Quantum Dot ie HDR-capable VA LCD with a new fancy backlight technology are becoming a very good buy for a consumer at a consumer price.

4K will be as adopted as blu-ray or 3D. It's not going to revitalise PCs, because even if it did get mass adoption people will buy 4K streaming boxes if they buy anything.

You could always buy one.

i think what that user is trying to claim is that 'pc sales' figures come from the number of prebuilts sold and not measurements of individual parts sold (so people who build their own are likely completely excluded)

What case is that?

>4K will be as adopted as blu-ray or 3D.
Except 4K will make a significant difference for most games today given that most games today tend to be 3D open world games that have longer view distances, and 4K significantly improves the ability to display objects at longer ranges. This problem is really visible in more realistic military shooters like the ARMA series where they have to implement the ability to focus and zoom in your vision to be able to have fights happen at more realistic distances, or games like the Red Orchestra series that tell you how far away the person you just killed was where you regularly find yourself estimating they were a few times the actual distance. Something displayed at 100 yards in a video game on a 1080p monitor is going to be displayed at a similar resolution to what the human eye can resolve at 300 yards.

>Consumer market dies and every builder has to buy spare data center pieces.
I'm not sure how to feel about that.

If that happens it would be bad at first but after a while when parts start getting replaced i imagine there would be a steady stream of used parts and the overall cost of would be cheaper.

Pajeet you can no in english.

Which is why laptops and tablets rape pcs

Pc gaming isn't growing steam is dead since they allow any fag with a $100 to sell reskinned clones. We all though greenlight was bad but it's a million times worse without it

winner winner chicken dinner. computers aren't getting better like they used to. there's no reason to replace one that still runs anymore.

We need more white people or make the blacks and muslims just as nerdy as us.

go away you bastard gay

They won't die, retard. Pre-builts have always been going down for a while now ever since laptops manage to get an acceptable level of performance but manufacturers of individual hardware components have reported a rise in sales.

that's very non-sequitur of you

sales are declining because there is absolutely ZERO reason to upgrade from a PC that was made 2 or 3 years ago, even longer if you dont use it for games
the PC market is boring as absolute fuck

they could do all this but no fully customizable laptops

Do something game changing. PCs aren't dying, people just aren't buying new ones because there's barely any reason to upgrade unless you're a gamertard or autistic obsessed with power consumption. 2017-era PCs bring fuck all to the table and there's no compelling reason to buy one if what you have already works.

>the PC market is boring as absolute fuck
This. Everything looks the same, does the same shit, and does nothing different from what you already have beyond being a couple milliseconds faster at it. There's no innovation or quality in the market anymore and everything is marketed to the lowest bidder who doesn't give a shit about what they're buying as long as it runs their shitty software as cheaply as possible.

Destroy all smartphones and tablets.
Pretty much the only way.

Smartphones are the most personal computers there are, and that market is thriving. If you mean desktops, we don't. The market for desktop computers has always been in decline since laptops came about, but the niche will always be there.

Youre missing the bigger picture here.

Everyone that has the means to buy a PC already has one.

Things like tablets and phones are where all the growth it.

Poor people in bongo bongo land don't have electricity most of the day
so for these people a tablet or phone is much more useful than a desktop or laptop.

you can't normies only need an android tablet windoze is dead

This unoptimised pos actually pushed a good amount of hardware sales for the past few months. What the market needs is more meme games with random frame drops.

>tablets
>thriving or growing
tablets are dead ]

the majority of PC buyers don't give a fuck about children's games

that's where you're wrong kiddo

Let it die, I'm so tired of PC culture.

kek underrated post

That's why PC users aren't the one driving sales, most PC users get laptops anyway. It's not only games, modern gamers also stream, record and edit videos. They buy 6+ cores CPUs and plenty of memory. PC users are the ones holding back the market tbqh.

>most PC users get laptops anyway
Speak for yourself user. I've never had a laptop, but I've had several desktops.

We don't. Normies are going to use smartphones. And should, they don't need 100w power draw for teraips or understand how to sysadmin windows or Linux.

>intel
>miniitx
housefire

There actually is srs quality and innovation, but now the hardware is no longer perfectly on moores revised conjuncture as it has done for ridiculously long.

Now its probably going to be far more often eally hard to get low percentage improvements in hardware rather than crazy exponential growth.

Fire the affirmative action hires at tech companies. Return technological advancement to the era where you need to upgrade your PC every 6 months to stay relevant.
