Why do >we call people from the netherlands "dutch", when the actual "dutch land" is germany?

why do >we call people from the netherlands "dutch", when the actual "dutch land" is germany?

I heard that in some USA's states they have "dutch" communities that are actually of german descent.

I think that they should be called something different (in english ofcourse, we don't call them dutch in spanish for example)

Same reason why native americans are called indians

The Amish are called Pennsylvania Dutch because when we asked them what they were called bystanders who couldn't understand a lick of German heard them say "Dutch" (because thats how Deustch sounds in their dialect) and called them Dutch.

Those "dutch' communities in USA call other Americans "English".

but you literally just used a demonym for them other than "indian".
only uneducated people call them indians.

I don't know about the 2nd question but,
the Dutch were considered German for alot of time, so they were called Dutch(Deutsch) while Germany was called Allmaine or something like this

Literally no one calls people from the netherlands dutch you fargot

what are they called then?

injuns

they're called dutch. the leaf is trolling, big surprise.

kanker :-dDdd

well we call it Allemagne, and southern countries call it Alemania i think

Are we talking about hollandics?

Yes it used to be 'Almain' from French, but it turned into Germany I don't know why

>netherlands
>aka holland
>inhabited by dutch
really makes you ponder

When will you slanty eyed cockmongrels be rangebanned?

Didn't Romans call it "Germania" ?

Also we call them "Germains" as well
in fact i think it would be perfectly correct French-language wise if we called it "Germanie" instead but we didn't
i don't know why either

yes it is from Latin, but wikipedia says it's actually a Gaulish term

well here you go it was the eternal Frenchman again

for real we actually completely control anglo-saxon culture from behind the scenes, don't tell anyone, we're responsible for all the ruinous ideologies they follow

good thing they beilieve it's actually the jews kek

>NO! you are a dutchman from Holland and you speak Dutch

It's a lot simpler.
In Dutch their language is called 'Duits' and it has a similar etymology to the German 'Deutsch'. Literally it means 'people's' or 'of the folk'. Formerly Dutch in English referred to all continental Germanic peoples from the Low Countries and the Holy Roman Empire.
