Essential phone price cut by $200

Now $499 instead of $699, a 29% price drop.

How long before Essential is bankrupt just like Nextbit, which made the Robin phone?

These companies need to wake up to the fact that people only buy expensive flagships for the camera. Budget phones have even fingerprint scanners and huge 4000mah batteries so what the fuck are they thinking releasing this crap.

>But... but. but... I am the guy who made Anroid!!!

$200 total would be interesting.

>notch in the screen
>no headphone jack
>memesterprint scanner
> 2560 x 1312 display/3010 mah non replaceable battery
>no sd card
No longer interested in this (not even if it was $200)

This means there will be no custom ROM to continue the OS updates when Essential goes bankrupt in 6 months.

>This means there will be no custom ROM to continue the OS updates when Essential goes bankrupt in 6 months.
The 5 people that end up buying this will surely be disappointed.

I really didnt understand why anyone with. highly functional human brain thought thus was a good idea

Didn't make it good though.

>no sd card
how much data do you really need on your phone anyway? Why aren't you storing your files on a home server like you're supposed to?

Have my OnePlus One for 2 years and a half now... still going to strong and it's so easy to fix I'll prolly keep it forever.

This project had serious potential. Where'd they go wrong

>Notch in the screen
>No headphone jack
>Costing 700 fucking $$

>how much data do you really need on your phone anyway?
removable data is conveinent
>Why aren't you storing your files on a home server like you're supposed to?
Nothing implied suggested that I do not.

At $400 I'd buy it.

>These companies need to wake up to the fact that people only buy expensive flagships for the logo

there....fixed that for you

Having no headphone jack is an instant dealbreaker for me.
I wouldn't even use this phone if I got it for free.

besides not having a headphone jack (which I rarely use and at least it comes with a dongle included), is there something seriously flawed with it?

I could actually use a new phone.

>for the logo
This, sadly

It sounds like a decent buy but I've read it has shitty build quality, shit camera, no root, not custom ROMs despite being nearly stock android. It's probably worth 400-500 at most.

oh well maybe I'll buy it used.

>Robin phone
>Everything about the design is carefully planned

and the headphone jack is at the FUCKING TOP

>oh well maybe I'll buy it used.
>used handset
ENJOY THE FREE SNOT, AND CUMMIES

I wouldn't. I'd buy an iPhone SE first.

Just bought a OnePlus 5 a couple weeks ago. I was eyeing the Essential Phone, but went with the OP5 due to the better value. Had they announced this price cut then, I would most likely have an Essential Phone instead right now.

>OnePlus 5
Sucks to be you.

this.
i guess the 5se would still have a faster chip despite being 2yrs old (or 3?)

It's not even 2 years old yet. It's only a year and a half.

But I rooted and put a custom rom as soon as I bought it, so none of this applies to me

Why would they go bankrupt ?

>Why would they go bankrupt ?
Unknown startup releases a bad phone for a high price in an extremely competetive market, and they might have some legal problems to deal with according to wikipedia.
This makes it seem that they might not last.

I need at LEAST 150Go to hold my 120go of music, 4go of pictures/videos and 2go of apps

Are banking apps still supported if you flash a custom rom ?

Mine bitches about being rooted and does not allow transactions.
I dont know whether or not it would be OK wit unrooted Lineage os

Meme phone

Shit phone, no headphone jack. Shove up your ass

I use Magisk, which hides root. So, banking apps, Android Pay, and shit like Pokemon Go still work for me.
