Is GitHub a monopoly?

is GitHub a monopoly?

yes. Even Microsoft has moved to github.

What ISN'T a monopoly in today's technological landscape?

customer data

3d modeling software

text editors

Autodesk and ... ?

There are plenty other social networks.

Not so sure about that, depending on your sector, there is Blender which nobody uses for whatever reason, some big inhouse packages and the stuff Autodesk offers.
So basically Autodesk might have a monopoly in some of those markets. And similar to Adobe, it's the markets fault.

Blender is better for non mathematically founded modelling, like characters for an animation.

Because blender fucking sucks to use.

Yeah, but Reddit killed traditional bboards

It's actually ok these days, minus some inconsistencies.

What has Reddit not killed?

Zbrush ?

No, there are many other hosted code solutions, people just choose not to use them because they prefer github or it is trendy.

>what is gitlub
>what is bitbucket
>what is hosting your own fucking repos by yourself

So it's a duopoly?

That being said, a lot of smaller 3D solutions turn up here and there. Is it because a lot of CS fags go the 3D route?

>what is hosting your own fucking repos by yourself
This, the most important projects will use github as mirror at best.

That is a free for all, amirite? Even GNU+Linux sells your shit. ;_;

Bitbucket is a valid competitor. Github Enterprise competitors included Stash (on prem Bitbucket) and Gitlab.

Apparently. Turns out dynamic, JIT compiled, excuse afterwards like the church moral is more profitable.

blenders use isn't uncommon, even in studios like Ubisoft.
