Is there an android smartphone that isn't shit? I was about to pick up a Pixel 2, after having the pixel for a year, but found out google decided to get rid of the headphone jack. Is there anything worthwhile that isn't cheap Samsung trash?

Wrong. they're shit
Wrong. Xz1c is shit
Wrong. G5 is shit
Only correct answer, and I made the comment.

I picked up an S7 for 285 euro's, it's goat

>since the headphone jack was removed from iphones
fixed

>G5 is shit
How so? Its very good for the price.

Xiaomi phones.

>How so? Its very good for the price.
LG enjoy your shit manufacturing bugs.

>Xiaomi phones.
Wrong. Enjoy your apple clones that call home to chink hq.

I meant the Motorola G5. In hindsight I wasn't very specific.

these xiaomi phones are real bad, they actually ping every data to those ching chong servers every damn second.

>headphone jack
>fm radio with rds
>sd card slot
>all-day battery life

Blackberry Keyone.
> headphone jack
> good build quality
> good camera (same as Pixel 2 but the processing software is different, then pics aren't as good)
> original look
> long battery life
> physical keyboard can be used as touchpad and you can set up to 52 shortcuts to launch apps and tasks
> stock launcher is good and it's really close to stock Android

tfw headphone jack is an extra feature now

>s there an android smartphone that isn't shit? I was about to pick up a Pixel 2, after having the pixel for a year
Why do you need a new phone after one year, stop being a baby. The original Pixel is still great.

Well it's no longer universally found on smartphones, so yes it is a differentiating feature.

XZ1(c) is a price and feature competitive flagship with Android 8 and Sony Open Device AOSP. It has IP65/68 ratings, expandable storage, 32GB built-in, 3.5mm jack, decent camera, close to stock android, phenomenal build quality, excellent battery life, a proprietary charging system to prolong battery lifecycle, SD835 + 4GB RAM.

Argue against it instead of shitposting faggot.

Too bad swype blows this shit out of the water - ONE handed.

Into the technology graveyard it goes.

It's not, but since most tech companies seem to be utterly retarded and to lick Mac's ass so desperately, it's good that some company still does things in an acceptable way.

Some people actually prefer not to have a virtual keyboard covering up half or more of the screen.
Some people actually spend most of their time typing on their phones instead of watching cat videos and porn.
If you don't fit into either of the two categories that's fine with me, but for those that do at least there's something for them.

i like sony and nokia phones

...

Sorry but Samsung is god tier. Note 8 is the best phone on the market now.

Samsung feel cheap, and still have that disgusting plastic button on the front. Also, I would like something that can hold a charge for more than one call.

Some people are luddites too who have to cling to extreme insulting stereotypes to justify their old technology.

I use my phone for managing 3 different businesses (about 12 email accounts) and web browsing. With swype I can quickly answer emails with a small paragraph or two without feeling burdened by the size of the device. With a BB or an iOS keyboard I get irritated after a couple of sentences and want to move to a laptop or desktop - particularly after I've already answered 20 other emails slowly. I just cannot be slowed down that much - swype achieves this like no other mobile keyboard has. Proficiency with swype-like interface is fairly easy to attain too, after just a few days you should have no problem achieving 30+ words a minute even if you cannot touch type. If you can touch type you can learn to swype without looking at the keyboard often fairly easily.

You should give it a try for a couple of weeks, might change your tune.

I've used phones without a physical keyboard for 7 years. The experience was awful and you have a choice of turning on autocorrect and constantly backspacing to undo a "correction" the keyboard made or turning off autocorrect and mistyping every other word. I tried all kinds of keyboards, from Swype to SwiftKey to GBoard and even Hacker's Keyboard. The day the Keyone came out I immediately bought it because of how bad touchscreen keyboards were.

Not like everything else doesn't

Curved edge meme needs to die. Touch screens need bezels for our soft squishy hands. If someone on a train bumps you from behind while you're gingerly trying not to touch the curved surface because you are zooming with the other hand - THE FUCKING PHONE WILL BE LAUNCHED BECAUSE YOU CANNOT POSSIBLE HAVE REASONABLE GRIP ON IT WITHOUT AN UNNECESSARILY LARGE CASE THE DEFEATS THE CURVED SCREEN IN THE FIRST PLACE.

The actual use cases of these curved screens is very limited anyway. It distorts the image and necessitate case shapes and screen protector shapes that cannot fully protect the device without compromising some of the functionality.

tl;dr: Curved screens are grade AAAAA marketing bullshit.

>removal of headphone jacks
>removal of usb ports
>removal of ethernet ports
>removal of vga port
>removal of hdmi port
What recent trend in tech hasn't been form over function?

Have you tried swiftkey? It also has gesture based typing. I type a lot of emails and very rarely do I come across words with similar gestures that fit the same context, I end up making much fewer mistakes than with iOS keyboards which people laud as the king of non-gesture based keyboards. The real secret to a good mobile keyboard is going to be grammar and context based intelligence, and iOS's absolutely sucks, as does Google's. Swiftkey is probably the best in this regard, but they're all a long way off from IMEs for asian languages on PCs and mobiles. I wish someone could bring that kind of intelligence to English keyboards on smartphones.

>Have you tried swiftkey?
Yes, I have, and I actually used it as the default keyboard for the entire time I owned a HTC M7. Hated how it always had autocorrect on, even when the app requests not to do so. In the terminal commands like cd would always get capitalized to CD and ls would always get autocorrected to LSD. Of course I can just add that to the list of exceptions but then I'd have to manually capitalize them.

While I enjoy the concept of a physical keyboard the Keyone's integration is counterproductive since it effectively shrinks the screen itself anyways. There are keyboards on Android that are approximately the same size as the physical keyboard on the KO anyways. On top of that it's sub-optimal since it effectively forces the use of portrait shoehorning the user into not only portrait typing but portrait use as a whole.

Without a physical keyboard the only time I'd use a phone in the landscape orientation is for taking photos/videos, watching videos, and playing games. Typing in landscape orientation is an absolutely horrible experience since you get at most 5 lines of readable text. With a sliding keyboard that's a different story but I highly doubt anyone will make such a phone these days.
>it effectively shrinks the screen itself anyways
A typical smartphone without a physical keyboard will have a screen resolution of 1920x1080. The Keyone has a screen resolution of 1620x1080. Where can you download a keyboard that only takes up 300 pixels of vertical space and still be usable?

Well...as far as mobiles go Essential tried and failed. The problem with all these devices are that they are disrespectful to the user because they're geared at maximizing app developer profits at the very core of their design.

Designers need to back that shit WAYYY the fuck up and start over in my mind. The first place to start is people are going to hold this in their hand - yet just about every design coming out these days is like a slippery bar of soap. Like WTF are they thinking? Are they just having buttfucking parties with aftermarket case designers (who have their head up their asses for the most part too thinking I want to advertise their fucking brand every waking moment with their fucking logos).

Laptops are another issue altogether and I can be more understanding of strange design decisions since the use cases of laptops are so much more static. USB C is the biggest design fuckup of the last 10 years though - they totally fail the design ideal of form following function or assisting user in understanding the use cases..."Uh, so is it a charger? A USB port? A thunderbolt port? A display port? WAIT, this one is only a USB and charger port, but this other one is a USB and thunderbolt port and not a charging port? GOT IT (gauges eyes out)."

I got a $50 Google play card, that's enough to convince me to make my next phone android
What's a decent enough android phone for someone who hasn't bought smartphones since they were $300?
My iPhone 4 is still doing fine but it won't be able to play mobile runescape

OnePlus 5 or if you can wait OnePlus 3T. Excellent price to performance ratio but there's nonexistent support from the manufacturer.

>mobile runescape
GTFO

>cheap samsung trash
samsung is the leading android phone maker, everyone copies them.

S8 is the best.

Then how come no other Android phone has spontaneously combusted?

Moto G5 Plus. Good and also around $300. Actually has some cool features for you to Fuck around, check it out

Ordered a mi mix 2a few days ago. I'm pretty hyped!

Well specifically speaking, you would need to design specially for charging your laptop's own battery via its USB port
USB 3.1 gen 2 (formerly known as USB 3.1 until the 2016 MacBook fucked everything up) is the current ultimate is USB spec, if your port isn't USB 3.1 gen2, blame apple for that one
And thunderbolt has its own hardware and requires Intel licensing to sell products with it
The type-c port just got caught in this chaotic time or shifting standards, type-c is the only thing that's preventing a proprietary thunderbolt port honestly

iphones explode too

>still have that disgusting plastic button on the front
nigger what are you talking about???????????? look at the picture, those are the S8, S8+ and note 8, do you see a fucking button anywhere on the front of them?

Also they're made entirely of metal and glass, I legitimately don't know what the fuck you need a phone to be made of to "feel premium".

god fucking damnit, here is the image, I'm retarded.

Sony overpriced nip shit
sony is known to put malicious backdoors in their smartphones.
It's shit m8, and it's made by unethical snaky japs.

>type-c is the only thing that's preventing a proprietary thunderbolt port honestly

but I already have proprietary thunderbolt cables and can easily identify thunderbolt functionality by the shape of the port...

>calling Samsung cheap but not the Pixel which breaks at the antenna line with the slightest bend
loving every laugh

> backdoors in smartphones

Name me a smartphone that is backdoor free please. As far as i'm aware, you cannot get away from them. Thank your gov't.

The cameras on the XZ1 line are fucked up and distorted fish eye garbage.

>Is there an android smartphone that isn't shit?

That's just your opinion, man. Now if you can define what a non-shit Android smartphone would be for you then perhaps you can track down something that fits as many of your requirements as possible, or you can keep bitching moaning and whining that everything is shit and be stupid, the choice is yours.

Reminder that the Pixel has massive screen burn-in issues.

SAMSUNG is king now. It's only a matter of time before normies realize Apple duped them for so many years.

Only the 2 XL. It's a shame since the regular Pixel 2 looks like something from 5 years ago with those bezels.

Have you used a Pixel 2 in person? I've used it at Verizon stores and the bezels are really not that bad. Bezels are necessary for functional phone use, unless you love misclicks everytime you interact with your phone.

>Name me a smartphone that is backdoor free please. As far as i'm aware, you cannot get away from them. Thank your gov't.
None, and sony doesn't help that. Infact they introduced their own backdoors to further fuck over their customer base.
Also their phones are overpriced for what they are.

Holy shit if that shitcat attacked my dog I'd stomp it into a bloody puddle

If the Pixel 2 had the same amount of bezel on the top and bottom as it did on the left and right it would be perfect.

My SAMSUNG Galaxy S8 Plus has never misclicked on me.

SAMSUNG is the innovator of today. The Apple of the past died with Steve Jobs.

Okay, button complaint recended
>I legitimately don't know what the fuck you need a phone to be made of to "feel premium".
Because if I am going to spend close to 1k on a fucking phone, I don't want it made from cheap gook plastic.

Fuck off retard.

You need to smoke a J or something man. No cat is a big enough threat to anyone to make it worth bloodying your shoes over. I imagine the cat in that clip has kittens nearby to cause such persistence anyway.

Pixel 2 audio quality is excellent.

Demo it yourself, the adapter only cost $9.

>no counterargument
Who's the retard now?

Don't you mean the DAC in the adapter is excellent?

get a brain ya simp

user I am concerned you did not read the entire content of my post.

There is no plastic to be found on the outside of this phone (I have an S8). It is made mostly (90% I'd say) of glass, that being the front and back panels, and the remainder of the structure is made of metal.

You can complain about samsung's software (I personally like many of the features, but if you're used to stock like I was, it's jarring to transition to and confusingly laid out), you can complain that the fingerprint scanner is in a shitty, SHITTY spot, or that the battery isn't the biggest after their phones started exploding last year, you can complain that you don't trust gooks and want an american made phone (lol goodluck they're all manufactured in china), all of those are fair. But it's genuinely 100% retarded to complain that the build quality of samsung's latest phones is bad. They feel and look VERY good.

>he thinks the phone is in charge of delivering analog audio, even though he bought an adapter
lrn2exist

>sony is known to put malicious backdoors in their smartphones
proof?

and no, just because sony bmg did it years ago doesnt mean sony mobile does it today.

Recommending the Note 8 when the majority of the world aren't 6+ foot mutated giants is laughable and makes you a cuck nigger faggot. No normal man has room to carry around a Note 8, you fucking loser. Nor a reason to even own a Note 8. Wanna watch videos? Use a real device you cunt. A phone is a fucking phone. I can already tell you're some city faggot with a faggot ass pointless life who uses their "phone" as a distraction from said faggot ass life. Fuck you.

Hope you become less autistic or hang yourself soon

I'd stomp it's head into the cement too. Are you just going to let it lunge at you and your dog?

It looks like a cancerous tumor is growing out of the bottom of your phone. This is regression of technology, not progress.

>You need to smoke a J

You need to eat some bullets

Anything in the Xperia XZ range

>asks for proof
>already had his own to try and brush under the table

Turns out Xperias werent even waterproof. Janky chinkshit in disguise (not actually waterproof)
theverge.com/2017/8/22/16186052/sony-xperia-class-action-lawsuit-refunds-waterproof-claims

XPERIAS ARENT EVEN WATERPROOF MOTHERFUCKER!

>nytimes.com/2005/11/19/business/media/the-rootkit-of-all-evil.html
>2005
>sony BMG

what did i just tell you

the waterproof part i cant argue with. its the entire reason they stopped advertising said feature with the xz series. however, i will say my xz5 got dunked multiple times with no ill effects, as has my xz1c.

>what did i just tell you
Who the fuck do you think you are?
They done it once, and they just found a different sneakier way to do it again.
>the waterproof part i cant argue with.
Like you were even able to argue about the first one that you tried to dismiss. You can't dismiss something just, because you brought it up you tard. Why did sony market xperias when XPERIAS WEREN"T EVEN WATERPROOF.
I mean the whole point of saying that something is waterproof is to make it waterproof.

nobody fucking cares

>touchwizz

>nobody fucking cares
The tears. Salt tastes salty don't it.

this single phrase triggers samsung users so much. i use it on reddit and consistently get -50 downvotes.

did you mean: touchjizz?

Xperias and Motos are the only good ones left.

>and they just found a different sneakier way to do it again

again you cant prove this so fuck off with your anti sony agenda. are they perfect? fuck no. the camera distortion on my xz1c is terrible, and sony cant do camera software to save their life.
however, they are one of the few companies to allow all their phones to have unlockable bootloaders and they release kernel sources for most devices. they also release aosp builds for some devices, which is more than can be said of other manufacturers. they also resist this retarded edge screen rounded corner bullshit.

pixel 1 and moto g5 are pretty much it

>T. Sony Sympathizer
How many wrongs are sony allowed to get away with?
It's not like they make anything decent anymore, so why are you sticking up for them?

>touchwizz

>still bitching about things that stopped being an issue years ago

How about you inform yourself about the current state of touchwiz instead of continuing to sound like an uneducated iToddler?

touchwiz is bloated delight. tfw I can calibrate the balance between L and R headphones. What other OS would think to add that?

>so why are you sticking up for them?
well lets see
>samsung
trash, locked bl, no kernel source, disgusting design
>LG
shitty build quality
>htc
dead
>oneplus
build quality
>chinkphones
you say sonys botnet is bad, this is worse. also no updates and no bands for the us.
>apple
no.
>moto
probably the only other manufacturer i would consider buying from, but they also dropped 3.5mm support

thats why i buy sony.

NONE.
They,re all krack vurnerable, even goolag pixel 2 and ios stuff as well.
Fuck fones!

>stopped being an issue years ago
oh, sure
t. s7 owner

All smartphones are shit yes including Sony's overpriced chinkshit rebrands. You're posts just prove me correct you mongoloid with bad taste.
