write a decent GUI for MPV on windows

If you want something like mpc you can use smplayer. It uses MPV by default.

>bloatcrashplayer

lol no. just use mpv alone

It was good while it lasted, but MPV has been great over the last few years and I haven't looked back.

Did a bunch of tweaks to mpv.conf and some custom Windows URI handler for opening URLs directly into MPV, as well as the cookies for certain sites...

My only issue with MPV are subtitles on monitors in portrait resolutions.

you just keep using it until the video codec landscape changes enough to warrant switching to a player with better support.

i don't want to write lua scripts or memorize keybinds to have a player be usable.

>>bloat
It's not 2002 anymore. There's no reason to care about bloat.

why do you keep posting this?

and why do you imagine that MPC suddenly stops working just because the coders aren't bloating it any more?

>what the fuck do we do
download mpv

Nothings needed. Just update LAV and madVR.

>why do you imagine that MPC suddenly stops working

nobody is even saying this, retard

>What the fuck do we do now?????
install gentoo

>MPC-HC
>Pretty much a GUI for a plethora of renderers and external software that do all the work

Why does it even need to be updaded?
They should declare it COMPLETE rather than dead

Fucking summerfags, hope you will fuck off to school in two months.

I tried mpv but potplayer really seal the deal.

>potplayer

lol 420 bro

This guy gets it.
OP just update the standalone lavfilters and madVR.
The player will love forever

Keep using it until it crashes on AV1 or some future technology. Then switch to whatever is the future media player.

I don't get MPV configuring. What exactly are people configuring? I just install it and set it as the default video player and everything works fine. Am I missing something cool and awesome?

oh man, it's dead? how long have a got untill it stops working?

some decades

But muh washed out bla... Oh shit, it works.

>2017
>still bloat
Dropped

Not really. mpv configs are just for minor tweaking like filters and scalers, or cosmetic tweaks like adding a seekbar or modifying subtitle colors, stuff like that. Using it just like it comes OOTB is perfectly fine.

there's already a seekbar?

Yes, but you can modify it or make it permanently visible via config tweaks

First of all you have to go and manually set
>high quality rendering
>quality upscale
>resampling to avoid jerky motion
>some deringing and debanding for kicks

I tested MADvr vs MPV stock vs MPV with settings on 1080p animu upscaled to my 4k panel.
Default mpv looks like a piece of shit, MPV with qualiry settings rivals MADvr but runs much faster.

Or they could just use mpc-qt which is libmpv based. smplayer interface is radically different from mpc.

>2017
>claiming that it's not 2002

F

mpc-be exists

mpv+smplayer and you won't see a difference

PotPlayer - easily the best media player is still around though

Potplayer is bloated shit

Nobody cares. You don't need to update the player itself, just the filters and renderers.

And mpv is ricer trash memeware.

>Using 3 programs when MPV does it all with 1 exe

Yeah, no thanks. Mpv is where its at.

they need xysubfilter too

1. Update the external filters
2. Switch to MPDN if you're the type of faggot that abhors config files.

You only need mpchc and madvr.

xysubfilter is for making sure that subtitles render properly since it feeds the rendered subtitles into madVR. I remember watching the FFF encode of Season 1 of GochiUsa where the subs for the title cards would literally paint the background color over the original Japanese text and then overlay them with the translated title. You could tell obviously which part of the solid color background was the video and which part was the just the subtitle painting over it without. That thing happened without xysubfilter installed.

Why would a player need updates?

codecs, mostly but that thing can be handled by external filters which is what most people do anyways when they're using mpc-hc
