Here is why Windows is superior than Ubuntu

Windows has notepad++.
Ubuntu doesn't.

Tried many Ubuntu text editors, and they can't with their own default resources do Vertical Selection.

With notepad++ it is just to easy, alt + click + drag.
Many other programs like Visual Studio has also this same feature.

Sorry, I can't take Ubuntu seriously until is able to do it.

This is pretty sad. Winfags are the niggers of the tech world

Vertical selection? You mean ctrl v in vim?

>"Ubuntu text editors"
/tread

>Vertical selection? You mean ctrl v in vim?
Seriously?

ctrl + v is not paste.

What a joke this program.

wow, everyone look! It's an OP, in its natural habitat. You can see, by the number of dicks in its mouth, that this OP can't stop shitposting.

Pasting in vim is p. Do you know what vim is even capable of? You clearly don't, so don't try to talk like you know about it

>Pasting in vim is p. Do you know what vim is even capable of? You clearly don't, so don't try to talk like you know about it

Do you mean a text editor without mouse support?

No thank you. I already had to use the TSO (IBM mainframe shit) to edit some files. What a fucking nightmare.

>some arbitrary keymap that I got used to is different in vim REEEEEEEEE
lol kys fgt

>winfag gayming kiddie has a mental breakdown using TSO
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Winfags are the dumbest fucking users on this board I swear. Dumber than macfags.

so why the fuck did you create this thread? you don't get vim because you don't grok vi. You're stupid, and you just made this thread to shitpost. Kill yourself

>>some arbitrary keymap that I got used to is different in vim REEEEEEEEE

except 99% of the existing programs use CTRL+C

It is like not binding CTRL+S to save.

Ubuntu does have Notepad++, it runs perfectly under WINE.

Have you tried Visual Studio Code?

99% of existing programs aren't modal like (n)vi(m). You're bitching about different tools when it's your inability to accept that they're handled differently

>Have you tried Visual Studio Code?
Background is dark, it gives me headache.
I need something like notepad++ with white background.

Notepad++ is the best text editor ever.

In all seriousness
>What the actual fuck is gedit

>gedit
Can't do vertical selection.

>wintoddlers literally too fucking stupid to handle a different keybind
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Please keep it up. You are putting on quite a show. What a great exemplar of the windows user base.

The Konqi shill wins again! In Kate it's Ctrl+Shift+B

Fellow N++ user here, thanks for the alt click drag tip!

Also it seems N++ works fine in Wine.

why don't you just change color scheme?
also, these features are easily adjusted... like ''phhh'

>> EMACS

>he doesn't know about notepadqq
It's literally a Notepad++ clone for Linux

vim has mouse support tho

>TSO
you mean ISPF?
the ISPF text editor is awesome
shame I can't use it on Windows

works fine in geany

just use sublime text or smth

>smth
Shake my tiny head?

Something

Notepadqq, here's your (You)

more like shake my teenage underage head

sudo apt-get install gedit-plugins
cide urself.

kate.
Ctrl+shift+b toggles block mode.
Vim
Ctrl+shift+V goes into block mode but you need plugins to make this anywhere as good as kate.

It is actually much worse.
When you paste something in vim, it executes each char as if it was a command.
Good thing there are so many ways to get vim to insert text, it usually only crop the first few letters.

>kate.
Just installed Kate.
Much better than gedit. Thx user.

>Ubuntu is on microsoft store
>Windows isn't on ubuntu store
Windows win

np.
In general, KDE makes a lot of great tools, it is worth checking out their solutions if you don't like the defaults in unity/gnome
