how the fuck do I install 64 bit without losing all my shit? I have /home on a seperate partition but theres shit thats not on /home that I dont wanna set up all over again.

...

Should've installed Gentoo

Never go full retard

Who cares, just think of all the memory you're saving.

Just copy your home folder to external usb device. You can view all the packages you have already installed with dpkg -l > packages.list then copy that to your external usb disk. Once you setup your computer correctly you can copy your home folder and that package.list and install them with sudo dpkg -i package.list followed by sudo apt-get install -f

just copy all your stuff to an external then reinstall...youre going to have to set it all up again tho

most config files are stored in /home, just do a fresh install and mount /home to the old one, make sure to use the same login, and everything should work fine if you install all the same packages

Just copy /etc if you have any memory of editing anything there.

ftfy

dpkg --add-architecture amd64
apt install apt:amd64
Make sure you have a live disk handy ;)

sudo rm -rf / | 64_bit

Think again.

even worse

DO NOT FOLLOW THIS GUY'S ADVICE

THERE IS NO UNDERSCORE

just partition and install a second copy of 32 bit debian.

32 bit + 32 bit = 64 bit

>he doesn't git remote all of his config files

>implying Arch would be an improvement

Are you a tranny that is our operating system and we want it back.

Way 1
Export list of installed packages, install them on new system. Also copy over etc and var.

Way 2
Multilib install all the things, install 64 bit kernel

Way 3
Install virtual box with 64 bit OS, use that on top of your 32 bit system

>but theres shit thats not on /home that I dont wanna set up all over again.
just backup /etc.

99% of your settings will be there
