1440p
>GTX 1070/Ti and 1080 are standard choices; currently overpriced
>GTX 1080Ti if you're looking for very high (100+) framerates and you have a CPU and monitor to match
4K
>GTX 1080Ti

General:
>PLAN YOUR BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING
>A 240GB or larger SSD is almost mandatory

buying the absolute cheapest motherboard is pretty much always a bad idea

Only if I can make w10 look like 7 with aero.
I hate the UI.

The only reason people buy Coffee lake is because Intel/Microsoft will bully them otherwise.

No other reason for CL to exist, really.

got my own hdd. Planning on upping to 16gb
but why upgrade the mobo? All that extra shit i'm not gonna use.

meh.... I got a h810dgs2.0 four years ago and it's been relatively good to me.
>There's also quite a big difference with EFT on that site for some reason
yeah it's a huge discount.
> I couldn't figure it out by that tiny picture
what do you mean tiny picture? if you follow the links you can scroll down and find specs.

>pic related
this is the 3000mhz

yeah their are apps to change themes and stuff i'm sure. like Classicshell brings back the standard start menu

Used to hate 8 and 10(still do)
but you get used to it and you can modify shit.

can't really know what brand or model number it is user

is there a fix for the w10 pagefile?
friend says it fills up his entire hdd if he has it enabled for some reason, so he's forced to disable it, which in turn fucks everything up due to memory leaks and he has to restart his pc frequently

I saw some crazy PC's in Japan.

I currently have 8gb 2400mhz RAM in my Ryzen 1600 build. I want to upgrade to 16gb 3000mhz. Should I wait until black friday or no?

yes
worst case scenario it's the same price and you spent a month with a """"""measly""""" 8 gigganiggas

I don't know much. kinda told you all I really know. I just put up with W10. you'll get used to it. Someone else can probably help though.

not much difference, don't know why but I think it's got something to do with CAS and CL
or maybe this guys a mook

What is the best 1070 card manufacturer, specifically the 8GB one.

the amount of intel shills and absolute retards in the last thread is astounding.

evga are the most consistent and have the best customer support by far. always try to go with evga.

How are used prices for 980Ti? Is it a viable alternative to a 1070?

Got my Ryzen 1600 yesterday and now I'm sitting on 3.7 GHz @ 1.275 V on Cinebench, 64º C max temp.
Did I won the lottery? What's a safe temp and voltage for 24/7 clocks without reducing longevity? Gonna need this CPU for 4+ years.

Dearest Sup Forums,

I'm currently holding out for an i7 8700k, which is currently priced in the UK at £430. Which is too much fucking money.

However, the i7 8700 (no k), is currently on the market for £293. For reference, the i5 8600k is £300 from the same company?

Should I go for the 8700 at that price?

first off, congrats. hitting 3.7 with that voltage is solid. amd recommend not going over 1.35v for longevity, and i'd agree. you're completely safe. well done on your build, next up is ram. ;)

amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B01GVHNWUK/ref=olp_twister_child?ie=UTF8&mv_size_name=1&mv_style_name=1

This one?

i'd go with the 8700. hyperthreading and 6 more threads beats the ability to overclock. plus you can save a bit with the stock cooler.

Cheers lad.

absolutely, although keep in mind the 1070 ti is going for £60 more right now. go with whatever fits your budget my man.

What's your application? For gaming just get the 8400 if the 8700K is too much.

I know right. The i5-8400 is the obvious best bang for your buck CPU for gaming hands down
youtube.com/watch?v=d8uWMUD_-z0
youtube.com/watch?v=olI9Mmtw39Y

just like with the PSU, I wasn't talking about the wattage or the speeds, mainly the reliability of the manufacturer.
Seems to be a well rated model so you should be good. Now it comes down to 8gb or 16gb. 8gb should be fine if you only plan to play some games for the next year or two at least. 16gb should last you until you buy a new system. There's better stability if you run 2 sticks in a dual channel motherboard, though it's not that big a deal. So however minor, 4x4gb will be slightly worse than 2x8gb

also ryzen does better with higher speeds than intel, which is where the demand comes from.

depends how long it's been used, if it was used OC'ing/mining and how lucky you get.
I've seen one at 275€ that's only been in use for gaming for one year so that's a good price

kek

Yeah. I'm gonna go with 8gbs for now then purchase another in a few months later as I'm really pushing my budget with this purchase already.

It's not so much that it's too much, I just think it's overvalued at £430, If it was around £360, then I think that's more justifiable.

yeah ram is probably the best the best place to save money short term, though you could also skip the SSD, though that would require you to reinstall windows when you purchase it

dude if you just want to play games and not toss $200 for a 15% performance difference. 150fps to 170fps difference go for the i5-8400.
You don't need fancy shit that's just marketing.

>20 fps isn't a lot

> though that would require you to reinstall windows when you purchase it
don't SSD's come with like a program so you can easily move over your OS? I'm sure they do. Unfortunately the SSD is part of the pre-build so I can't take it out
>20 fps isn't a lot
$200 for 20fps. honestly rather spent your money on something else. It's value will only depreciate every year

this, 150 fps is LITERALLY UNPLAYABLE

if you're going to OC and just play games
consider 8350k
if you're not going to OC and/or do some other stuff that benefits from multithreading, go for 8400/8700

Console players pay $400 for 30 fps.

I'm going to buy an RX Vega 64 liquid cooled today for 720~€. How stupid is that?

here's an idea, buy a 1080ti for the same amount of money and 25% better performance

>consoles hitting 30 fps
maybe 720p

I'd also need to switch my monitor for an additional 200€ or so, assuming I can sell my current monitor for retail value.

How many 2600K buyers are sitting at home wishing they had just got the 2500.

you could also get a 1070ti for ~250 less and still have similar performance
>I'd also need to switch my monitor
you don't NEED TO

>both above 144
Yeah, I'm sure you have a 240hz monitor

If I don't I wouldn't have similar performance.

I guess that's the thing, isn't it, the difference is £120 for an 8400 and an 8700.

In real terms that means the trade off is between an 8400 with a 1080 or a 8700 with a 1070.

Could you guys help me out...

Is this compatible with Ryzen 1600 / B350 Tomahawk? It looks like to get 3000mhz with my mobo, I would have to overclock?

newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233852&FM=1

Also, what kind of performance difference can I expect going from 2400 to 3000?

40 fps less than a locked i5 in PUBG

google.be/search?q=ryzen 2400 vs 3000

>playing pubg
>playing pubg and somehow expecting anything above 15fps with any pc

>Is this compatible with Ryzen 1600 / B350 Tomahawk?
yes.
>It looks like to get 3000mhz with my mobo, I would have to overclock?
nope, you'd simply set the speed in your bios.
>Also, what kind of performance difference can I expect going from 2400 to 3000?
pretty significant with ryzen.

is it a bad idea to buy used AIO liquid coolers? I can get a h100i with 8 months of use for cheap

GTX 1060 for 1440p 144Hz on Destiny 2. Am I crazy? Note: turning HDAO off has no effect on my enjoyment of the game.

the 1080 will last you a good while(5 years, [i'm sure]). Unless your an autist. Same with a 8400. You don't need that expensive shit

absolutely crazy
youtu.be/Ij_K_VT8o3I?t=323

please know when to shill the 8400. He never said he wanted to game
put just look at your electical bill

Yep no problem. This is on High. Lowering a few more settings and you can get 100 fps on the 1060 I'm sure.

Okay cool. I guess I'll order the new ram this weekend. Next thing on my list is a 1070 then I'll be set.

But user, electricity is included in my rent. I don't really care about power consumption.

Do you mine crypto coins?

I don't but I should.

would probably get complaints if his power usage went too high
just like when you have "unlimited transfer amounts"

If it's a big build and each unit isn't individually metered there would be no way to know. Other that FLIR cameras or user's window open in January.

>[email protected] worse than [email protected]
explain please?

can a cheap displayport cable or adapter damage my gpu?

if you put the other end in a wall power outlet yes.

It can not work properly at high resolutions or refresh rates even if they advertised it would.
it can not damage anything

pcpartpicker.com/list/FmYfNN
How good is this build? First time making one, any tips or changes are welcome

do you need all the features of that mobo. you could spend a lot less for a similar one. I would get a 650w PSU at least for more headroom and operating efficiency. Is that RAM samsung b-die?

I'm looking for a new video card. I'm in Australia, so prices are fucky.
Currently running an R9 290, but it feels like it's been degrading over time, used to play any game on my old 1080p at ultra at an easy 60FPS. Good example was The Witcher 3, could run it at 1080p 70FPS ultra (w/o hairworks). Now, I'll run it at the same settings/res and get about 60, but with constant drops below that, making the experience feel like shit. That's only one example.
Might just sell the card on Gumtree for $150, which is a pretty good price for a 290 here.
Would a 1050 Ti be worth getting at all? They range anywhere between $200-250, and typically have shipping prices of $20-50. There's on store within reasonable driving distance, but their prices are typically a tad higher than average ($220-280). I've heard that, for the most part, it doesn't matter which model to get, since they all perform within margin of error of one another since they're a lower power card. Is this true?
I'd like high+ settings without meme shit like hairworks, Physx, AA, etc. and to run the games just fine at 1920x1080, 60FPS.

Well i really only need the WiFi ac on the mobo and I have no idea if that ram is Samsung b-die, don't know much about parts.

What sort of usage do you intend for this computer?

Buy reference Vega and do your own water cooling.
499 Vega 64:
mindfactory.de/product_info.php/8GB-PowerColor-Radeon-RX-Vega-64-Aktiv-PCIe-3-0-x16--Retail-_1186797.html

Supposedly they also had Vega 56 in stock for 399 this morning, but I can't find it. Probably sold out

1060 6GB or 1070.

1050Ti won't even run The Witcher 3 at 60fps on high. Maybe medium

Games like minecraft :^), and school/life shit.

Yea that's way over kill for that then. Read the OP and check out logical increments

I'd rather not shell out ~$600 for a video card at this point, so might just wait for a 1060 to go on sale.
The last component I spent over $300 on was the 290, and that's been holding up nicely since release. I can't be fucked paying much money on components now, just want something that runs things fine at 1080p for more than 1 generation of cards, which I'd imagine the 1060 can do.
Thanks for the answer, user. Was expecting to be meme'd pretty hard.

I feel your pain, auscunt. I live in Canada and prices are just as horrible. I have a 1050 Ti and I'm waiting on a 1070 sale right now. I wouldn't recommend the 1050 Ti desu

can i build a laptop?

I don't live in Germany mate. Doing your own watercooling is also way more difficult.

I was joking, I want to be able to play the latest games with 60+ fps on the highest quality, some porn games can be very demanding you know.

This winter I don't even use any heating and I'm stil warm. wtf, I love my vega now.

I would go 1080ti just to make sure you can play those vr porn games in 4k.

Looking for an adapter for Display port to DVI-D, dual link I think because HDMI doesn't achieve 144 hz, any help? There's a lot of prices all over the place on amazon and I can't tell what I'm supposed to be buying/trusting

Pretty pls

Should i get the RX 580 or 1060 6gb considering prices are equal?

Fuck no

Poozen is not to go to gaming cpu

This answers nothing

Depends at what price they are. Saying they're equal doesn't amount to much. They could both equally be $400 USD, but still shit value.
If they're under ~$250 for the 8/6GB variants of each card, it's not too bad, since the retail of each card should be $230 for RX580, and $250 for the GTX1060.
Otherwise, if it's inflated as fuck price, it should be an obvious no.

With 1070 Ti coming out, we can expect the 1070 to drop a little in price by black friday right?

I'm asking which card is better, without taking prices into account. I'm pretty set on either of these cards for 144hz 1080p. I'm gonna hold out to at least black friday to try to snag some deals (unlikely I know) and currently price difference between the two is pretty negligible.

>I'm pretty set on either of these cards for 144hz 1080p
Unless you turn all the settings down, you're going to be disappointed.

At 1080p, I'm fairly certain it depends on the game anyway. I don't think either card will run most games at muh 144Hz, but some games favour Nvidia, other games favour AMD.
If you're set on 1080p144Hz, I'm pretty sure your best bet would be the 1070 or higher.

For the games I want 144hz in, I'm fine with lower settings.
So it's pretty much a draw between the two and I should just go for the cheaper? Thanks for the input on 1070 I just may go that route.

Asus ROG Strix Radeon RX 580 Gaming OC or Gigabyte Aorus Radeon RX 580 8GB

can get both of them second hand at same price

looking at coolers for dual socket xeons, probably going to go with 212 evo's, since they're relatively cheap and effective
any other ideas?

fill me in with this 144hz meme I'm out of the loop

Well, as I said, it's dependent on the game, but typically they should perform pretty similarly.

actually wait no, the first is MSI Radeon RX 580 Gaming 8GB

Similar to that other user; I can't decide on 1070 or 1060 6GB. I'm going to be playing 1080/60hz. I know 1070 is obviously better but is it really worth the extra for 1080? There's a very big price difference here.
