post monuments that celebrate your nation and it's history
Monuments thread
Pic related is "Danmarksmonumentet" (The Monument of Denmark)
Its in a pretty poor condition and has been for awhile. It has also been put away so to speak. It has been removed from it otherwise quite prominent place right in front of the state museum of art to a corner of a small park behind the museum where you can barely see it.
It was moved there already in the 1920'ies because it was deemed ugly and not "real" art.
A monument ment to represent Denmark and which has all the classic characteristica of Denmark, the three lions, and Mother Denmark standing at the top for example was deemed "ugly" and not real art and thus promptly removed.
It makes my stomach churn.
Pic related is before the monument was moved. A picture of its current condition will follow in the next post.
This is it today.
Also, there used to be 3 bronze plates like the one you see in the front, but the two others have been stolen by gypsies.
