Best Browser for a Macbook?

Asking for an acquaintance.

Been using Google Chrome the whole year, and I only just realized it fries Macbooks up to 80c. Considering how slow the laptop now runs, it's probably already damaged until delid.

Did some research and learned Safari was the fastest ontop of being nice and lightweight. So I moved her to Safari and she absolutely hated it.

Are there any other good alternatives? I heard Opera was pretty good. Nothing resource intensive.

Objectively Safari is the best for OSX. Get Wipr and set VLC to your WebM player.

Kick back and enjoy Apple blocking 3rd party tracking cookies for you.

I have exactly the same issue. I'm currently using Firefox Nightly but it's definitely not optimized for macOS.
What's the second best browser for Mac behind Safari?

There's no magic trick

Safari >>>>>>>>>>>> Nightly >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Chrome

I'm using Nightly right now

SAFARI

Isn't Nightly super inefficient in terms of RAM and battery usage?
What makes all browsers aside from Safari shit on Mac anyway?

>can't even choose searx as a default search engine
>have to use that shitty VLC plugin for webm
>no favicons
>complete lack of customizability, can't modify search bar suggestions, or even have something so simple as a dark theme

How do you love Chrome and hate Safari? It's nearly identical other than a different UI. Safari is pretty up to date with features nowadays. The only thing you could prefer Chrome for is it's Dev Tools, and proprietary Google implementations. Other than that, they are both webkit and offer mostly the same experiences. Unless you browse on websites made by shit web developers that deliberately used the worst methods of making a website.

>I only just realized it fries Macbooks up to 80c.
How did you realize that?

>Advertisers getting pissed off
Oh god this actually wants me to buy a mac

Eloston chromium.

But it's the same thing as Chrome, it just doesn't phone home.

>the same thing as Chrome, it just doesn't phone home
So literally perfection?

It hogs resources like a mortherfucker on macOS

Safari with VLC plug-in is enough for shitposting machine.
Anyway, which app do you use to mount NTFS? Paragon 15 is piece of shit, and somehow I always get error when trying to play eroge inside my w8.1 VM using Tuxera.

Dumbass Apple faggots aren't welcome here. Fuck off nigger.

Does anyone else get somewhat blurry font rendering on Safari?
Also, is there a way to avoid storing history but still store cookies and website data? Firefox can do it but apparently Safari can't.

Gentoo

>It's nearly identical other than a different UI.
>She hated it
It's probably the UI.

Firefox ESR

Mac user here (no bully)

Chrome is a better browser in terms of functionality, but Safari is better for battery.

I wish Safari wasn't retarded sometimes.

Do you mean the VLC extension?

The only thing preventing me from switching to safari is my extensions. Safari literally has none

>twelve tabs open on safari
>"No apps using significant energy"
What the fuck. I guess I'm dropping Nightly despite Safari's UI being dog shit

>I wish Safari wasn't retarded sometimes.
Does anyone else have that issue where you have to reload Sup Forums for 4chanX's thread watcher to update?
For example I'd open a thread from the watcher that has an unread post, close the tab, but the thread watcher in the other tab hasn't updated and still displays one unread post.
It's minor but it's annoying.

>being so autistic you actually care about favicons and dark theme so much you would disregard raw performance and battery life

The inability to disable search suggestions entirely (including those from bookmarks and history), to selectively delete history but not cookies and other data, and the mediocre font rendering (pic related) really suck though.
Dark theme is better at night but I guess it's not important. Though the complete lack of customisability sucks.

...

with chrome? 80c? that happened to me with firefox and currently have 0 problems with google's browser.

unironically install gentoo

That VLC plugin is really fucking shitty.

Lynx

?? 7% CPU usage with 12 tabs open and ~300-400MB of RAM.
Stop spreading lies.

i have brave as a secondary and its alright, i dont use it much but i like it when i do

Yes, Opera is the best one
Go for it

Is there any browser that even approaches Safari's efficiency on Mac?

>Mac
Found your problem.

Yes I do have this issue idk how to fix it and never bothered to debug. I just refresh shit until I see it registered

What's the best video player for mac
VLC is shit so I'm using mpv right now, but it uses a lot of power. Is there a conf file optimized for mac?

also a mac user, I use firefox on Sup Forums and most other sites for all my autismo extensions, chrome for some sites due to cross device password management (windows 10 pro android 8.0 phone), and safari occasionally on sites I don't tracked by jewgle that perform better than on firefox.

I use MPlayerX but honestly I rarely watch shit on my Mac so I have no idea what else is out there or what is better.

GO. THE. FUCK. AWAY. Dipshit apple faggots like you don't belong here. Now FUCK OFF.

Typed out like a literal 10 year old. Neck yourself.

Macbook user here.
Safari for everyday use.
Firefox for porn to pull the vids of pornhub.

There wasn't a problem with the Mac. Reading comprehension, Ivanjeet. Learn it.

Again, Safari is a no-go. Alternatives?

She's having an issue where youtube playlists aren't showing up unless you refresh the page every time, and doesn't like how the tabs compress as you scroll through them (im sure that can be changed though).

I read an article with a benchmark. That, and the MacBook had been running really slow for a while now, despite having hardly any software. Also, the previous Macbook pro died within a year after switching from Firefox to Chrome, where it again became really slow somehow.
Nothing conclusive, but it gives me an indication.

Safari is good but when I test some JS scripts on the browser everything goes to shit, if it wasen't for that and the WEBMs it would be great

That's a lot of tabs. Learn her how Watch Later works or tell her that Add To Reading List exists.

Never heard of that playlists not loading issue, but I do know that if you click add to playlist, you have to click it twice, same goes with the share button, ever since that ui overhaul.

Anyone know of a good bookmarks manager for mac

I recently went through this because firefox slows to a crawl when I use 10 tabs to respond to facebook memes. Here's my findings.

Firefox: Plays webms and handles Sup Forums correctly, slows on loading 10 facebook tabs with 100% cpu
Safari: Handles 10 facebook tabs and Sup Forums works properly, but doesn't handle webm (maybe I need an update?)
Opera: Handles facebook tabs worse than safari but better than firefox. Sup Forums image expansion fucks with the scrolling. Don't remember if webm worked but I think so.
