Lifting isn't cardio. Probably still better than nothing though when done reasonably. HIIT tends to be an unsustainable habit due to how much it sucks. Running is not bad for you
Jogging is aerobic cardio whereas HIIT or barbell complexes are anaerobic.
It's better to do hiit if you wish to preserve musclemass/make optimal gains.
Think the difference between a sprinter and a Marathon runner. One looks like an AIDs patient and the other has sizeable muscle mass. Which is which?
