Asian Christians scare me

East Asia is atheist yes

yes because koreans set up like a billion churches in my area
>drive one mile
>korean church

Retards will be retards

who the fuck cares about the religion of fucking korea 2bh

>Other

What do Buddhists even do

You said it
xvideos.com/video4214962/amazing_atheist

Complain about muslims

I heard that Koreans realises Christian has an advantage to emigrate to US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and EU.

Exactly that

he's only hurting himself, who cares

Don't hate, don't breed, don't kill.

That happens here too.
>inb4 haha but your country is a narco shithole XDD

It happens because of religious motives, not crimes.

no such thing in brazil and we're pretty religious too

this is just extreme

is vietnam really as fedora as the stats suggest? or is it like china where everybody (especially older people) still has their retarded old superstitions and rituals in which they believe, but they claim to "not be religious" because it's not in a conventional organized fashion (and because the government encourages this sort of stance)?

Doesn't mean they're not superstitious or believe in ghosts and shit

Being unaffiliated doesn't mean you're an atheist

Unaffiliated doesn't mean atheist, lot of East Asians have ancestor worship etc. There is deep spirituality there even if it doesn't necessarily follow the Christian model.

Only forced "atheist" nation is North Korea. Even then I wonder if they are really atheist......or just worshipping a "supreme leader". Communism/Socialism should be classified as a religion of its own. Scientology already went to court to prove you don't need a god to be a religion.

aren't both of your countries rapidly becoming less religious?

idgaf really

protestants are growing fast, tho

What is surprising?

Unaffiliated = Just general spiritual stuff. There's no need to formally affiliate most East Asians just have their own folklore, ancestor beliefs, superstitions, etc. It is what it is.

Buddhist = Came in from India, very very influential in East Asia. I think the Chinese emperor adopted it or something, hoenstly there are more Buddhists in East Asia than South Asia nowadays.

Christian = Came in from the West, very influential in South Korea. South Koreans are not as violent or imperialistic as Japan/China and so adopted Christianity more easily. I actually know a nun who is from South Korea she works at a bookstore near me.

Other = Muslim, Hindu, Wicca, Jewish, etc. whatever else.

>protestants are growing fast, tho
doesn't this worry you?

if you think Catholics are bad, wait til you see what protestants look like, especially in poorer countries

Viets (apart from Christians, monks and a few small religions) aren't actually religious.

This is beautiful. Wherever you are, thank you saffronchild, for your bravery.

>if you think Catholics are bad, wait til you see what protestants look like, especially in poorer countries

My country isn't "poor" but this is so right. Protestants here make Catholics look like an ordinary club.

yes because they're annoying

they're trying to dominate politics with their (ultra-)conservative views but nothing is supposed to change anyways

btw my whole family is protestant apart from some bad eggs in the younger generation

How can asian believe in a soul when they obviously have none.

vietnam please stop oppressing your Catholic minority

t. klaus hitler

How does it feel to live in a country where less than 0.1% of the population born elsewhere? Is it nice? Are things relatively peaceful now?

How so? Protestants jsut ape the general culture. Thats why every Protestant Church is celebrating their married gay ministers right now. The entire foundation of Protestantism is when the King of England wanted to divorce his wife but the Pope said no.

Evangelicals are getting really big worldwide, they do the talking in tongues things and spiritual swooning and such. People like it because its exciting and fun but its mostly a fad once the novelty wears off I don't think it will last too long.

>t. Hans-Kristoff Schumaker, slaughterer of 11 quadrillion Jews n' Slavs

Newer generations in urban areas, yes. But parts of the countryside are whole different story, they are living like 100 years in the past.

Communism/Socialism is a religion but they replace God with """glorious leader"" instead. And kils even more than the Inqisution and ISIS combined.

"Pride in one's own race – and that does not imply contempt for other races – is also a normal and healthy sentiment. I have never regarded the Chinese or the Japanese as being inferior to ourselves. They belong to ancient civilizations, and I admit freely that their past history is superior to our own. They have the right to be proud of their past, just as we have the right to be proud of the civilization to which we belong. Indeed, I believe the more steadfast the Chinese and the Japanese remain in their pride of race, the easier I shall find it to get on with them."

it's just a good religion to be a jesus freak

Maybe they aren't living 100 years in the past, maybe the "newer generations in urban areas" are living 100 years in the future, and the future just happens to suck.

Where do the crazy drug cartels who worship the "Virgin Death" (instead of Virgin Mother), fit in? Are they urban or rural?

t. Jürgen von Liechtenauer

They are tiny fringe fraction of the population, of the lower classes in urban areas that is. But even within lower classes, it is not a popular practice, unlike San Judas.

And it's Santa Muerte (Saint Death) not virgin, lel.

List of religions that like to pretend they aren't religions:

1) Communism/Socialism
2) Any kind of fandom where people dress up to go to conventions
3) Veganism and Environmentalism
4) Alt-Right

what.
the.
fuck.

Oh I thought she was a pretty big deal for cartels. When I google up 'mexican folk religion' on GIS for example the first pictures are of "Saint Death", mixed in with some of the Virgin Mary. (I could have sworn it was supposed to be "Virgin Death" as a way of contrasting the two but I guess you are right on this one...). Either way, fuck the cartels and I am sorry for them hurting your country.

Catholics up here have San Judas too. For "desperate causes".

Some narcos are into weird shit (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolfo_Constanzo) but they are narcos, and not even the majority of them, just punctual cases.

Other narco stuff (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesús_Malverde). Malverde is more narco than Santa Muerte, but neither are really popular.

What about Mexican voodoo candles? The Mexican grocery store near me sells a lot of them that have some good stuff on them (like love candles etc) but some bad stuff on them (like cursing people with an evil spirit candes). Is this mainstream or is my local Mexican grocery store run by crazy people?

We don't. There are 2 (two) churchs near where i live.
Very peaceful, not in the sense of comfy but in the sense of no terrorists and gangs, there are thieves tho.
But in fact nobody treats that "God" like Allah or Jesus, they just seem him as a normal people.

Most people see it as crazy stuff, like troll figurines and the like.

We have a market full of things like that.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercado_de_Sonora

It's interesting, but most people don't buy into it. It definitely has some audience, tho, since this country is very superstitious.

But the thing is, the people running down any of these kinds of things are usually either very, very ignorant, to the point where they don't know where any of their retarded beliefs came from (voodoo, traditional chinese medicine, traditional mexican medicine, european folklore, etc.,you name it). They often lie, make misinterpretations and confuse very different shit to make up entirely different things out of thin air. Or, they are scammers who claim to be some sort of shaman. Or both.

But again, it isn't really popular either. The closest thing that it is actually somewhat popular is astrology.

Thanks for the answer, glad its not popular.

I don't mind superstition to a degree. Sometimes its fun like "its bad luck to see each other on the wedding day before the ceremony" or making a wish blowing out your birthday candles, throwing a coin into a fountain etc. These are fun and everyone has them.

Some of the Mexican voodoo candles I saw just seemed so malicious like asking the intranqiul spirit to haunt and torture people. Stopped seeming "fun" and started seeming kind of "mean".

Most of Mexican culture I like. You guys work very hard, you have good food and colorful culture. Only things I hate are the cartels and those voodo candles.

>not liking voodoo candles

what type of monster are you?

A memory candle or prayer candle (like at a gravesite etc) = Good. I light sometimes these too.

A good luck candle or a love candle = okay, all in good fun. Like yeah its kinda silly but whatever so is a lot of fun stuff.

Evil spirit haunt this person candle = WTF? Even if it DID work why would you want to sic evil spirits on someone?? The hell?

drug cartels are rural mostly m8

But Santa Muerte isn't. Santa Muerte is a chilango thing (Mexico City for those who don't know), mostly in Mercado de Sonora. But only about 2000 people visit it regularly because of Santa Muerte, out of 20 millions.

ohhhh OK I'm thinking of the wrong ones. I keep some of the Catholic saint candles in my place because I think they're neat. I mainly like the art.

ok, I thought you were talking about cartels, not santa muerte
and yes, santeria is for dumb people, I have a half sister that is into that shit, 3 kids, different fathers

Yeah I was looking at the candles at the Mexican grocery store because some of them do have nice art, pictures of the Saints or angels or whatever, and they are cheap so I thought maybe I could get some for a little bit of decoration.

But then I saw these other candles about trying to haunt and torment people. It's just not civilized, afaic. I don't care if you are urban/rural, religious/irreligious/spiritual/superstitious, young/old, whatever. Just seems wrong.

As a Korean its embarrassing how many xstians there are in my country. Xstianity must be purged from my country and every cross and chutch burned down.

Buddhism is ok.

>no terrorists and gangs
You don't have bike gangs over there?

>those nails
What a pussy, Jesus's nails were slightly smaller then his entire fucking palm

I just realized you can see his face and he's a man, those are feminine looking hands/arms to me.

But anyway, its just done as a memorial thing. To do a small hand piercing as a memory. No way would anyone ever want to recreate a real crucifixion, Jesus was also beaten half to death beforehand and got stabbed too. But I think its fine to do a memorial thing. Yeah the nail piercing is a little gross/intense but so is a lot of things, we do more extreme "body mods" for a lot less spiritually significant reasons.

Most American Christian when they want to remember Jesus just look at a cross. This guy actually got his hand nailed to the cross (probably both). That is something else.

t. Fedora

fuck off fake korean chink. china is your country, not korea you stupid deluded chink

Korea is part of China.

Strictly speaking, Korea has been a vassal state of China for long time in history.

Nice, good for them.
